My daughter was in a hit and run accident this weekend

Recommended Posts

John so happy to hear that she was only mildly injured and hopefully nothing lasting beyond a little time to get through the soreness and bumps or bruises she suffered.

Sadly the chances are that the person who hit her was drunk. S/he will may be caught because hiding that kind of damage to a car is hard to accomplish. At the same time I guess it's conceivable that the person responsible will completely avoid accountability.

Still within this dark cloud it is very nice to know you still have your daughter. Give her a gentle hug tonight and some harder ones after she fully recovers. I know from other posts where you mention her that you are a great Dad, love her dearly and are nothing less than proud of the woman she is becoming.

Glad she's OK John. Hopefully the other driver gets what's coming to them.

One thing I'll add...don't be surprised if she's very timid behind the wheel for a bit. Be patient with her...my daughter still "hits the brakes" when I'm driving & her accident was a couple years back.

Coming home late from a friends house late Saturday night my daughter on a two lane road someone came over the divider and hit my daughters car nearly head on.......

Car rolled 3 times and landed on its roof......driver didnt even stop to see if she was alive or dead.

There is still hope for for people in this world because rather then leave my daughter like that on a dark highway people pulled over......called 911 (and me)

Car was completely totalled but somehow some way my daughter made it out of this without any cuts (she was just covered in glass I dont even know how that is possible) whiplash, and bruising.

Lucky to be alive actually.....the girl was wearing her seatbelt (kids do listen every once in a while)

i am very happy that she is ok (under the circumstances). I dread when my kids are old enough to drive given all the nuts out there that have no business driving.

I, too, pass along my best to you and your daughter - scary doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of it I'm sure....

A big congrats to the folks who design cars - it's amazing the type of wrecks people not only live through, but make it out of relatively unscathed. It's a testament to good engineering that you can be hit head on, have your car flip multiple times and not even have to spend time in the hospital - truly amazing.

I am assuminig she was NOT hit head on or the other guy would have been caught. I think they were going to hit her and she swerved to avoid the other vehicle... The other vehicle drove on.

JfH... So glad that your daughter is okay! Last month coming home from work @ midnight a vehicle was going down the expressway the wrong way! Thank God I was in the right lane and they were in the left... You just don't expect to see another car coming @ you on a divided highway!

EDIT: JfH did she actually trade paint with the other driver? If so, how did they not crash too? Unless they just brushed againist her and she swerved? How did they keep going without sustaining damage?

Glad she's ok. Chances are she didn't have any cuts because of the glass. The "breakaway glass" breaks into small pieces and generally aren't sharp enough to cut like that. That's how they are engineered. I learned that at Corning Museum of Glass ;-) glad she's ok though. I'm betting the driver was drunk or high or a criminal and didn't want to get caught and risk going to prison for years.

Maybe someone should ask where Marcell and Marshawn were that night.

This. There is no doubt the driver was drunk, that is probably why they never stopped. Glad the daughter is okay, I hope they catch whoever did this. Just horrible.

Glad to hear she's ok. It's pretty awesome how far automobile safety has come. :)

Hopefully the person who did this is brought to justice.

So true. If the two vehicles actually touched, there should be paint from both on her vehicle... How in the heck did the other car just drive on, it had to sustain some damage, big damage if it was nearly head on! Hope they catch the person... I wonder if the authorities can watch all the body shops in the area and see what comes in?

Details are a bit sketchy for me as the car has been taken away by the insurance company now to their own tow yard.....but pictures were taken and it appears to have clipped my car in the side of the front rather then head on.......so damage was done to the other vehicle but not enough that they couldnt drive away.

From what I understand the highway patrol is watching the body shops. There wouldnt be any cameras on the accident because that part of that road is very rural......its between cities.

by the way....that car was my Hyundai Accent.....so a very small car

Thanks John! That is what I was thinking (clipped)... I hope they catch the guy. Again, maybe they can watch body shops, etc...

So glad your daughter is okay...
