It's the difference between a $500M and a $800M price tag. It"s a toy. Spare me the cold weather advantage line. No one actually likes cold games and the advantage for the Bills is a myth. Went to the casino on the US side one night a few years ago and thought the downtown area literally appeared wasted. A stadium would likely come "cheap" there. Tear all those abandoned buildings down and bring in something that would pump some money, from both sides of the border, into the area. He is bosom buddies with Governor Cuomo and headed the New York State Thruway Authority. Putting the stadium in Niagara Falls would allow the Gov. to swing millions of dollars in state aid to WNY and eliminate the eyesore that surrounds the state park at the Falls, all while lining the pockets of one of his best friends - win/win? You betcha! Oh, and if Jeremy Jacobs becomes the new owner a Niagara Falls stadium would be just mere steps from the NY State Park where his Delaware North controls all concessions - meaning he would make hundreds of thousands in AND out of the stadium each game day. The only way the Falls works is with significant public subsidy and that would mean state subsidy because Niagara County is about 1/4 the population and unlikely to offer the same level of investment Erie County would. Does the state step in and subsidize this? If they are interested, which I doubt, you CAN rule the Falls out. Sure you can't rule them out if you ignore all reality but if you consider the context and that an new owner will have significant say, the Falls is dead in the water. And if it's state funded, does the state want to deal with corruption in Falls govt and the local trades..... doubt it. The long term failures of the Falls are entirely the resilt of bad leadership in local govt, I doubt it is ever given honest consideration. First, Milstein is persona non grata with state and local officials over his lack of investment in his properties. They aren't going to reward his speculation with a handsome golden parachute. As for a dome, I do wish that those calling for a retractable roof that would somehow be opened for bad weather would realize that there is no way that will happen. Never in the history of retractable domes has any stadium been opened for bad weather. I can't even think of any moments when a surprise storm hit an opened dome, though am happy to hear stories. I think there is little chance it leaves Erie County. You think Buffalo politics is effed up, try NF for size. I think you build a new Staduim either downtown Buffalo or right next to the Ralph. Or even expanding UB's stadium in Amherst. I like that idea. There is plenty of That way Both teams would use it . And it has wide roads for easy access already. And it has nice hotels already there with plenty of room to build more. Plus the Mall , Niagara Falls Blvd. business would make big money. Trust me , Canadians know where to shop lol. I haven't been to the Ralph in a couple of years now so I don't remember correctly, but I believe they are the vendor at RWS as well. Mickey Posted April 11, 2014 Share Posted April 11, 2014 The traffic problems getting in and out of Niagara Falls would be insane, I don't think they have the infrastructure to handle that many vehicles. That county is a notoriously unfriendly and unfair place to try a case in if you are being sued by an alleged injured worker. A stadium on the Rochester side of Buffalo positioned relatively close to the thruway would make it much easier for fans from Syracuse and Rochester to come to games and it would separate the game traffic with all the folks from Buffalo coming and going on the west side and the people from Rochester, Syracuse, Geneva, Canandaigua, etc. etc. coming and going on the east side. Our family all had seasons for a long, long time but the trip from Syracuse to Orchard Park and back through all that traffic was just too long of a day for kids, older folks and the handi-abled, especially in bad weather.
