I dislike a lot of people's politics, but I'd be hard pressed to find someone I abhorred enough to make me abandon the team. Maybe the Koch brothers. Not just a loud mouth sideshow of a presidential candidate. Go Bills forever. i feel the same way as you except substitute "george soros" for the "koch brothers". The statement that tipped his hand was that he said "Somebody could come out and bid through the roof for the Bills, something crazy. In which case, I’m sorry I can’t do anything about that. You have to be sane. But maybe there’s not going to be any other bids. You never know with these things." It sounds like he would buy the team if he could get it for a bargain. He's a businessman. He will throw out a lowball offer with hopes of making a huge profit. Like any business opportunity, he will have his minions analyze the situation and do their due diligence. They will invest if they see a clear opportunity for profit. Any businessman would do the same. To be an owner in the NFL you have to be passionate about it. The dollars and cents might not always add up (especially if you have a bad small market team) so there has to be some intrinsic value for a billionaire to want to invest when there are plenty of other business opportunities with higher rewards. For most owners it's because they love the game. For others, it's like having a shiny new car that you can show off and say look how rich I am. For Trump to buy the team he would need some kind of motivation besides making money and I don't think that is how he does business. I think his motivation is money and if someone offers more than what he values the team at then oh well, at least he got a lot of free publicity and he looks like a good guy to the people of Buffalo for trying to save their team which buys votes in case he ever runs for office. Additionally as an owner he wold have a say in any rule changes, plus the other owners also want to make money as well so they are like minded. And finding quality people you can trust is harder in football than in business? You don't really believe in the current global economy is is harder to run a NFL team than a business, do you? I was not implying the rules rules. I was implying the differences in football. Todays hot coaches are flamed out in two years because the game is evolving so fast right now for various reasons. Coaches like Dick LeBeau and Bill Belicheck survive the game because they are truly masters of their craft. The Harbaugh brothers are an example. They're good coaches, some of the best in the league and they're really not all that amazing, are they? Finding competent managers in any field is tough. Finding competent managers who are driven to remain atop their field is even tougher. Finding competent managers driven enough to remain top in their field while developing systems to defeat their counterpart who is more or less their equal. They say with 10,000 hours of experience you become an expert and I cannot imagine anyone on a coaching staff in today's league having less then 10,000 hours of football experience. These are the cream of the crop pitted against each other in a survivor lasts another year occupation. It'd be akin to taking the top 50 businesses in this country and pit them right up against each other. It is apples and oranges - the NFL and corporate America - but it is no way a take away to say that the CEO's of our nations biggest industries are less then that of our NFL execs and coaches. Think about it: This is not charity, in the mind of a Trump, this is a once in a lifetime FOR HIM We have an NFL franchise…there are only 32 in existence…he's been dying to be in the owners club…it's the only club he can't get into….we all know the USFL story. We have one of the 7 wonders of the world….there are only 7, hence the title. MASSIVE tourism dollars go from Buf Airport- straight to Canada every year and nobody even thinks to do do anything on the US side. Pure potential. On the Canadian side, there are higher end hotels and casinos…casinos on the US side….and a bad need for credibility in the luxury hotel space (just ask Tommy Brady and his vagina).hmmm…The Donald may know a thing or two about lux hotels and casinos. This guy has dealt in NYC/Palm Beach/Miami/Northern NJ Real estate dollars his entire career….his cost basis:upside in this area is quite attractive. Because it's the only NY State NFL franchise…he can beat up the politicians and probably get some county/state level help - tax benefits for adding jobs…financing etc. There's virgin real estate opportunity all along the waterfront. and….lastly….do not think for one second that THE Donald is not dreaming of cutting the ribbon on TRUMP STADIUM: Niagara Falls NY. The only thing that bothers me about it is that he's too flashy for Buffalo. I would much rather have a local ownership that understands the fan base. It would be a little bit of selling our souls to the devil. At the same time, we all complain that we do not get any national attention, we are never taken seriously, we are the butt of the jokes for decades, were cheap, we can't keep talent here, etc. etc. Things take a dramatic turn with Trump….for better or worse. In some ways, a football franchise reflects the consciousness of their owner, and Trump is not anyone I'd want near something I love. This is both laughable and sad.
