Max997
What? I thought same thing but I think he is talking about Shanahan in Washington And no he won't be fired, has built in excuse of RG3 coming off injury
NDBUFFCUSEFAN
I am guessing OP is referring to Shanahan getting canned this week. I highly doubt that is a possibility, if every team that got blown out by Denver fired their coach Dick Jauron would be coaching by week 15. Captain Hindsight
Based on what? Shanny s a fine coach. That RG3 trade is crippling their defense but Shannahan is in no danger
dayman
They won't fire Shanny yet but anyone can see it is 1 or 2 year away max and this little push won't end with even 1 playoff victory this year or next.
BuffaloBillsForever
As much as we bash Hacketts poor playcalls, it pales in comparison to Shanahan last night. Having his son tied to him must drive Redskins fans nuts.
NoSaint
Based on what? Shanny s a fine coach. That RG3 trade is crippling their defense but Shannahan is in no danger that and being penalized ridiculous amounts of cap space due to the uncapped year fiasco. traded away cheap good players, and cant afford vets to fill the holes til next year. Captain Hindsight
He may be in more danger now. The trade for RG3 was smart in the sense they got their guy, but if EJ turns into a good starter and we got Kiko and Woods too, who got the better deal? RJ (not THAT RJ)
Shanny will not be fired, but I think it is quite possible he decides not to come back next year. That Skins team has a lot of holes, and I rather doubt he has the patience to wait two or three drafts to get a team together. He may pull the plug so he can give the job to his son…. plenzmd1
On Kirwins show yesterday,Laura Okmin (reporter i think for Fox..she was great)who said no pressure on Shanny at all. However, the media may be turning on RGIII just a bit. Edited November 8, 2013 by plenzmd1

BADOLBILZ
He may be in more danger now. The trade for RG3 was smart in the sense they got their guy, but if EJ turns into a good starter and we got Kiko and Woods too, who got the better deal? History says the team with the great starter got the better deal. Obviously, Manuel is kind of an awkward mess right now compared to guys like RGIII, Luck, Kaepernick and Wilson. But I think teams liked his mental make-up the way the Giants liked Phil Simms when they drafted him long ago. Simms never had the ceiling of the great QB's of the day, but he turned into an elite game manager/leader. That may end up being EJ's ceiling........and if Whaley surrounds him with great talent that may be enough. That hasn't been the case for the past decade......great QB's are winning the SB's.....but there is no rule that says you can't win one without an elite QB. But unfortunately it is not easy to keep talented teams together the way it was in the 1980's so in the long term.....chances are the team with the better QB gets more shots at making the playoffs/winning SB's. Joe Buffalo
Shanahan is safe. Redskins fans are still enamored with the name and past success that he had with the Broncos. Their fans get that their defense is on the old side and can only play one half of a football game. They'll make moves to reload the D this coming offseason and see how it goes next year. Shanahan has at least one year left before they start calling for his head.

atlbillsfan1975
Watching the way RGIII and Shanahan have been together reminds me of the Dan Reeves Vick era in Atl. A once great HC with a very talented QB. Both teams lacked D's and both QB's came into the league and set it on fire, but then progressed slowly. Because they are down 36m over two years and lacking draft picks and are remaining remotely competitive is a pretty good reason for them to be optimistic long term. 18m this year could've signed them 3-4 good starters. atlbillsfan1975
Very solid take. The other similarity is the Falcons also traded up with the chargers to grab Vick. Chargers grabbed Tomlinson and i believe Brees in the second due to the Falcons trade IIRC.
Jasonp325
Are you crazy? They lost to Minnesota, are 3-6 and are in the worst division in football. That's not competitive. Of their 6 loses, almost none of them were 'competitive'. They squeeked by Oakland; beat a Chicago team that had to bring in a back up QB mid game and were 6inches from losing at home to SD. The talent is there. The coaching is bad!

Example, in terms that bills fans will grasp quick - you could have levitre and Byrd added to that roster with room to spare, or you could do branch, Lawson, mckelvin and Stevie (4 starting caliber talents!) or even Mario Williams and branch (a premier top paid in the league player at a premier position and room to spare) 18m a year in salary cap hits is HUGE.
