Brady just slammed the Buffalo area

People look in the mirror. If you weren't born in Buffalo there would be no reason to ever live or even visit there. The hotels are crap. The restaurants are crap. The airport is small and has very few direct flights to anywhere. Compare them to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, or Toronto. People have said we are at the bottom of the list. Buffalo isn't even on the list.

For me the defining charm of Buffalo has been the people. I have lived in Ohio and now the Pacific NW and travelled the entire country. Nowhere are the people as friendly as in western NY.

Not moving back anytime soon though....

You've gone too far!

Thats kinda harsh.

The Restaurants don't suck.

I always thought it was

Toronto

Cleveland

Buffalo

Pittsburgh

Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? It sucks and the people are dickheads. Then you have the CMU people that think their geniuses but they all wish they got into MIT.

I was just watching NFL network live coverage of the Wednesday press conference. Brady was talking about how his parents were very supportive and how they traveled to his games in college and then when he became a starter in the pros. He then said "my (dad) even traveled to Buffalo. I don't know if you guys have ever been to Buffalo, but the hotels in Buffalo are not the nicest places in the world."

Anyone else hear this?

screw him, not because he doesn't like the hotels--because really, if you're worth $100m and you can't find a place that you want to stay in any city in the country, you're an elitist. i'm not sure what his roots are, humble or otherwise, but he and gisele are first class hypocrites. old gisele has been nominated an eco-ambassador by the UN, meanwhile throwing up a 20,000 square foot mansion that is supposedly 'eco-friendly'. what sort of chump buys into this garbage. eco-friendly? you know what's eco friendly? buy something already built and move in. buy something NOT the size of your average shopping mall.

i hope he gets bed bugs on his jimmy in indy.

Because the buffalo folks in this thread have proven to be awesome. Just giving a hard time, everyone has hometown pride and buffalo is a cool place but in general... Not a great destination unless you have friends/family/ties to the area.

Dude, I hate Brady but its hard to argue with him there.

Hotels in Buffalo suck. Adam's Mark, and the EB Greens hotel and that Marriott, aren't that good. I've stayed at all of them and I travel for a living.

The best one in the Buffalo area was the Indeblu hotel out near UB, but I think that one is shut down now. Even the Mansion on Delaware is a little run down.

Indeblu? How about Hotel Indigo. Adams Mark was supposed to be remodled to Crowne Plaza standards!?!?!?

Perhaps Tom Brady is used to hotels that have heated toilet seat and bidet. I don't know of any hotels is WNY that have them.

Whoa, whoa. You are DEFINITELY wrong on a lot of levels. First, the restaurants here are incredible. Better than NYC and Chicago? No. As good as or better than any other city in North America that I've been to? Yes. Second, within the last two years, the city has received rave reviews from architecture tourists, garden tourists (yeah, there's such a thing, apparently), and the travel sections of two leading (and by leading, I mean international: the Toronto Star and the New York Times) newspapers.

And I'm not being defensive about Buffalo: I'm one of the people admitting that Brady was right about the hotels.

Please, by all means, stay in Seattle or wherever.

Don't disagree about the architecture. There are some very beautiful buildings in Buffalo. My grandfather helped build several of them.

When you're used to staying in the types of hotels his money allows him to I imagine there isn't a place in Buffalo up to his standards. If you've ever stayed at a Four Seasons, St Regis or a Ritz Carlton you'll know what I mean. But to bring it up in an interview is pretty shallow.

This is completely true, honesty is fine, but going out of his way to single out Buffalo? Brady has played in other "terrible" cities, why not mention them? why Buffalo?

Probably because he has stayed in Buffalo once a year every year since...2001? Pretty sure the accomodations in NY and Miami (the other cities he stays in once a year) are a little nicer. He only stays in the other "terrible cities once every 4 years or so. So Buffalo stands out. But yeah, in the spirit of the OP, I'll jump on board. Brady's a jerk.

He was also discussing where his dad had stayed.

You guys are taking this the wrong way. That means in 11 years of staying in Buffalo, not one hotel has given Brady a nice room or made his stay enjoyable. We should be congratulating our local hotels for doing their part to help the team.

The way I look at it is plenty of cities have things that could be made fun of it. Brady's hometown is the gay capital of the US (not that there's anything wrong with that  ). LA is filled with gangs, pollution, and traffic. IN NYC, you pay $3,000/ month to live in a box and have to ride public transportation everywhere. Philly is called Philty. Boston has a reptuation as one of the most racist cities in America. So you can't get upset if someone makes fun of Buffalo. And a lot of the parts that outsiders see are pretty crappy. However if you take someone on Elmwood near the art gallery and Delaware Park, there are mansions that compare to any where in the country (Buffalo had the highest per captia of millionaries in the US at the turn of the century).

Basically, I think it's pretty weak to talk about someone's hometown but you can't get bent out of shape. I love the pride people have Buffalo and I take that everywhere I go. I do think it is funny that Brady is mocking the hometown of his best weapon though.

I think it also depends on the person as well. You can put me anywhere in the world and I'll make a good night of it. Brady and most pro athletes come in town for a night to play a game the next morning. They aren't exploring the city. Also most of the Buffalo hot spots aren't near the hotels.

Which century? and am being serious.
