Five out of 80 Bills players are put on the list, essentially before entering the facility. This proves that the risks are there whether the season is canceled or not. I would guess that players that want to put themselves in a bubble for 6 months are safer to opt out. Whereas players that would go work out at a gym and then attend Zeke's parties afterwards may be safer with a season where there is constant testing and more guidance. It's nice that the players have a couple reasonable options to make this choice for themselves. Trying to have a season under these conditions is going to require teams to pivot at times, but is reasonable especially considering both players and owners want to proceed.

The hope is to get all these guys that are coming in from all parts of the country negative before practicing starts. Once negative, each player is responsible for their own bubble. There is a playbook for that (social distancing, masks, avoid indoor gatherings, blah, blah, blah) and hopefully players are capable of executing. The team is responsible for making sure one or two players that fail don't infect 80 other individualized bubbles. If you have 78 uninfected guys practicing together, the risk is zero. That's the hope. With testing being imperfect, so goes the plan.

Star Lotulelei opting out for 2020
Rock'em Sock'em replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if this can be mitigated... * "Replace" Star with a 1M player, similar to Corey Liuget last year. * Move the balance, 7.1M of cap space, from this year to next year. * Pay our Star's 7M of guarantees in 2021/2022 using the carryover created this year. -

Raheem Mostert requests trade
Rock'em Sock'em replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
RB is a crazy position. It's super important, but also relatively easy and cheap to fill. Is there a single team that does not have a RB of Mostert's caliber? Gus Edwards was #2 RB last year in YPC. Breida, who also played for SF in 2019 was #5. -

Reason the Dolphins fired their OC
Rock'em Sock'em replied to Nihilarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Typically terminology and long play calls make an offense to be perceived to be more complex. The longer play calls can give a team more freedom to change blocking assignments, formation, motions, alternate plays, and snap count while essentially running the same concepts - and communicating all of that withing 10-15 seconds in the huddle. It works for both run and pass. Buffalo's offense does not appear to be complex to me, but perhaps there is simply more verbiage in the play calls. -
Anybody want to go on record about Josh?
Rock'em Sock'em replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Curious. Do you see Josh Allen's 2019 season as far better or far worse than Stafford's 2019 season? Originally, I figured you were insinuating that Stafford was far better. From a career perspective, JA has a few years to go to catch Stafford. I personally think JA is one of the five best young QBs in the NFL and his arrow is pointing up still. -
Buffalo Bills Official 2020 Schedule
Rock'em Sock'em replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Killer schedule. Besides the four primetime games, there is some good news: * No games against teams coming off bye, but the Bills play LAC week 10 after a bye. * No games against teams coming off a mini-bye, but the Bills play NYJ week 7 after playing KC. * Thursday night game is at home following @TENN. Remember the days where the Bills would face several teams coming off bye or mini-bye each year? It happened for more than a couple years in a row. I'm not sure how much say each front-office has in the overall schedule, but I have a feeling the change is in part due to coach MD's competitive spirit compared to his predecessors and other coaches around the league. -
Can our #2 WR consistently beat one on one coverage
Rock'em Sock'em replied to Old Coot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's see, to have an explosive offense I feel you need: Enough good WRs so that the primary receiver gets open regularly on any given play and the others are generally open as well. A line that doesn't blow up more than a few plays per game and that can block for short yardage runs. A quarterback that is a play maker and durable. At least two playmakers besides the quarterback that are a threat to score or have multiple long gains each drive. Better to have three. Ability to adapt and counterpunch by executing screens and draws and such to combat pressure packages. It would be a pleasant surprise if we take a large leap in the rankings, but it can happen. We have most of the ingredients. And Yes, Brown can win enough against #2 CBs to be effective. -
To me the closest comparison is Carlos Dunlap. Should be fun to watch him and root for him over the next few years.

The Bills 2020 Draft in Perspective
Rock'em Sock'em replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you, very well written! The Bills have found a really nice balance between drafting for need, finding value, and finding guys that they scouted and feel good about. -
He was a top talent. Since then, knee and back surgeries introduced concern. And his handling of the "one thing you would change about yourself" question at the combine shows poor decision making and immaturity. We'll see what happens.

If BB/NE succeed and TB/TB fail this year, that would be a plausible conclusion. -
Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia

Curious, who did you have them taking in the 3rd, if not Moss? -
Fournette has 1 year left on his contract. A team that is position for picking up comp picks in 2022 will likely get an extra mid rounder then. So if the Bills like him on a $4M one year rental, it's not a bad trade for a late round pick this year. Yannick is a good player, no doubt, but perhaps he's not worth both a top draft pick as well as top dollar.
