  1. Your next assignment is to explain the difference between your and you're.
  2. You better have traded him like the Seahawks did, otherwise we'd be eating an $85 million cap hit. 😄
  3. If you have today's BN, check out page 4 where they mistakenly put a photo of Edward Snowden instead of Jack Teixeira.
  4. Back in 2020 Dan Shaughnessy wrote in the Boston Globe that Jake Fromm would replace Josh Allen.
  5. Kraft can get a lot of happy endings with that much money.
  6. I have a torn ticket & the program from the game. 1st $5,000 gets it. 😎
  7. The pick from KC had nothing to do with the Allen trade. The Allen trade consisted of trading the Bills 1st round pick (21) to Cincinnati along with Glenn for pick 12 & moving pick 12 with the Bills 2nd round pick & the 2nd round pick obtained from the Rams in the Watkins trade.
  8. I liked Tyrod until I watched him become what I called a wheel-spinner. When the Bills 1st signed Tyrod & I heard about some Ravens teammates saying glowing things about him, I sent a Bills fan friend an e-mail titled "We've found our franchise QB" and attached a photo of a tie-rod. He hadn't heard of the signing yet and his reply asked me why I sent him a photo of a car part.
  9. What nonsense? Go on Google & look up the movie Being There and then you'll understand that his post is a parody of Gardner-Johnson's name. I think it's really funny that he goes by C.J. to avoid the Chance the gardner AKA Chauncey Gardner references. One of my favorite movies. I like the ending where he walks on water because he doesn't know that people can't.
  10. So you're saying there's a Chance. Named after his father.
  11. Some pensions in NYS are taxable except for certain government pensions:https://states.aarp.org/new-york/state-taxes-guide Are pensions or retirement income taxed in New York? Yes, money withdrawn from pensions and 401(k)s, 403(b)s and IRAs are combined and taxed as regular income. Tax rates run from 4 percent to 10.9 percent, just like for other income. But federal, New York state pensions and military retirement pay are tax-exempt. For those 59½ or older, the first $20,000 of retirement income (from a corporate pension, an IRA, a 401(k) account or another retirement plan) is tax-exempt. Married couples get a double exemption (each spouse is eligible for the $20,000 exclusion) for a total of $40,000.
  12. So McDermott is #1? 😀
  13. Totten was a strike player and he's in a different category than guys who played in real games.
  14. This isn't baseball. The baseball equivalent is if the road team scores in the top of the 11th, the game ends. In baseball the home team still gets the bottom of the 11th, in football the team that defers doesn't get a 2nd chance if the receiving team scores on the 2nd possession. Huge difference between baseball & the NFL.
  15. Very simple answer why you always take the ball: If both teams don't score on the 1st drive, you have a distinct advantage in number of possessions & are much more likely to win the game. On the 1st 3 possessions you have 2 chances to score where if you defer, you may only have one. No coach in his right mind would give away that advantage.
  16. The real fault for the Mahomes trade is that the Pegulas didn't fire Whaley in January of 2017 and immediately replace him. What that meant is that McDermott was really in no position to draft a QB and tie the hands of the next GM, saddling him with a QB he didn't draft. If the Bills had hired Beane or someone else in January, they would have had enough time to give the new management time to scout the QB class of 2017 instead of waiting for the class of 2018. Instead, McDermott had to deal with being the de facto GM & when KC called, McDermott liked the idea of loading up on draft picks for what at the time was looked at as a loaded QB class. As it is, we created the monster in KC, but on the other hand we also got the best player in the 2018 draft. Still all things considered, it would have been better not giving KC the chance to draft Mahomes. However, if the Bills don't make the trade, chances are pretty good that another team would have, since Houston was able to trade for Watson at pick 12. The only way to have stopped KC from getting Mahomes would have been for the Bills to draft Mahomes themselves, something the GM situation precluded. Also anyone who thinks Mahomes wouldn't be as good with the Bills just needs to look at how well Josh was developed under Daboll.
  17. I wonder if the 49ers fans want to fire Shanahan today because he can't win vs Reid/Mahomes? He has the same problem McDermott has, the only difference is he's in the other conference, so he can go further in the playoffs before he gets to the Reid/Mahomes obstacle.
  18. Obviously, he's not making enough if he's asking to borrow $10,000. 😀 I've always done my taxes in January. Even when I owed, I'd send the payment in right away.
  19. Anyone who proposes a 1st time head coach needs to understand that in the history of the Bills franchise, the ONLY successful head coach who was never a pro football head coach before taking the Bills job is McDermott. 8 1st time head coaches failed before McDermott. So, the historical odds are 11% that a 1st time HC will succeed in Buffalo. Now if anyone wants to calculate the NFL percentage be my guest. Before McDermott, the 4 top coaches in Bills history all had prior AFL or NFL head coaching experience. Also, in the history of the Super Bowl, no coach has ever won it with 2 different franchises, so you also might not want former SB winners either. McDermott's record in the playoffs is mainly due to the Reid/Mahomes monster in KC. They've also been successful in stopping the 15 other AFC teams too in 3 of the last 4 years.
  20. I remember taking flak from the Brohm fans when I mentioned that I thought it was not possible that Russ Brandon had outsmarted all the other GMs, including the best ones in the league, when he signed Brohm off GB's practice squad. My logic was that a 2nd round QB pick who gets waived before his 2nd season & not claimed and then had spent the season on a practice squad with nobody else interested, was not some genius signing by Russ Brandon & our management team. They said things like Buddy Nix was the one behind the Brohm signing (like that was any better than Russ Brandon), that Brohm was projected as the #1 pick before his last year in college, and "I saw him play in college".
  21. Get a job with the IRS & your paycheck will be my loan to you. Or, you do retirement right and don't need any side job.
  22. If you're at poverty level, you don't pay SS taxes. If you're middle class, you're likely being taxed on 85% of your SS income. I've never been taxed at less than 85% of my SS income. Your Social Security benefits could be taxable, depending on your situation. According to the IRS, the best way to see if you’ll owe taxes on your Social Security income is to take one-half of your Social Security benefits and add that amount to all your other income. This includes tax-exempt interest. This number is known as your combined income, and this is how it’s calculated: Combined Income = Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) + Nontaxable Interest + 1/2 of Social Security benefits If your combined income is above a certain limit (the IRS calls this limit the base amount), you will need to pay at least some tax. The limit for 2023 and 2024 is $25,000 if you are a single filer, head of household or qualifying widow or widower with a dependent child. The 2023 and 2024 limit for joint filers is $32,000. However, if you’re married and file separately, you’ll likely have to pay taxes on your Social Security income. How to Calculate Your Social Security Income Taxes If your Social Security income is taxable, the amount you pay will depend on your total combined retirement income. However, you will never pay taxes on more than 85% of your Social Security income, though the income brackets will vary by filing status. If you file your income tax return as an individual with a total income that’s less than $25,000, you won’t have to pay taxes on your Social Security benefits. Single filers with a combined income of $25,000 to $34,000 must pay income taxes on up to 50% of their Social Security benefits. If your combined income is more than $34,000, you will pay taxes on up to 85% of your Social Security benefits. For married couples filing a joint return, you will pay taxes on up to 50% of your Social Security income if you have a combined income of $32,000 to $44,000. If you have a combined income of more than $44,000, you can expect to pay taxes on up to 85% of your Social Security payments.
  23. https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/could-couldnt-care-less Could vs. Couldn't We define could care less and couldn’t care less on the same page, with the single definition “used to indicate that one is not at all concerned about or interested in something.” We do not put these seemingly disparate idioms on the same page in order to save space, or so that we might cause you pain. We do it because one is simply a variant of the other, and they are used in a synonymous manner.
  24. Gary Marangi was the worst. Set an NFL record for QB futility in 1976 with a 35.3 completion % that most likely will never be broken. He replaced Joe Ferguson the 2nd half of the season after Fergy had a season ending injury and after 1976 never played another down. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MaraGa00.htm
  25. Reminds me of the days of Buddy Nix. Diminishes Marshawn Lynch's trade value before having to trade him. A few years late, trashes Fitzpatrick & backs himself into a corner that forces him to draft a QB & then drafts EJ Manuel.
