Packers QB Jordan Love - sprained MCL out 3-6 weeks
Albany,n.y. replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's also half the size of Josh. 😄 -
Corrected

It would be more accurate if the top half said "Jets fans on opening day before kickoff"

Do you wonder if the league is fixed?
Albany,n.y. replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've got some great news: I got a call from a mole deep in Goodell's office & he told me the NFL is fixing this season so that the Bills will be Super Bowl Champions. So save the week after the Super Bowl for celebrations. If I was still working, I'd put in vacation time now. -
The good news is they've been putting the best Monday Night Football games on ABC. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, it's easy to go to the store of your choice, get an indoor digital antenna, change the input to TV & get any over the air station on your TV. A while ago, Verizon cut off our ABC station in a dispute with the station's owners & I set up one of my TVs so that I can switch the input from cable to TV & I don't have to worry about losing any over the air stations.

Which interests you more this season... SNF or MNF???
Albany,n.y. replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Totally depends on the teams. Whenever the Bills play, I'm watching. If an AFC East team is playing, I'm more interested. I don't watch most of the NFC night games. -
When you're in a playoff team mode with a franchise QB in his 20s, there is no need to keep a developmental QB on the roster when you only carry 2 QBs. You want a veteran with starting experience, not some inexperienced novice with no chance of winning any games. That's the Bills model ever since Josh attained franchise QB status & will probably stay that way until Josh gets closer to the end of his career. Brett Favre started 13 games in his 1st season in GB. He was a backup his rookie year in Atlanta & was quickly traded to GB in the offseason between his rookie & sophomore seasons. GB gave up a #1 pick to get Favre. Their plan was never for him to be a backup very long & he was a starter a month into the season.
-
Let's look at your examples: The 1990 Giants were pre-free agency and had a backup who was stuck on the team for years & barely played in the 7 years he was on the team. The 2001 Patriots entered the season with a sophomore backup QB who threw 3 passes his rookie year and completed 1 for 6 yards. The 2017 Eagles had re-signed a former Eagle who had 1 good year with the Eagles earlier in his career & who had flopped with the Rams & had his option dropped after 1 season with the Chiefs. At the time he re-signed with Philly, he was basically Mitch Trubisky.

Yes, I'm sure, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it. Practice squad players pass through waivers, the Bills never waived Williams, players deactivated on Sundays are not on the practice squad. So, here's my proof from the 1998 media guide page 121 " PRO: A young defensive tackle who made the team as a rookie free agent a year ago...has appeared in one career game on special teams...will battle for a roster spot in preseason and looks to make a greater contribution in'98. 1997: Signed with the Bills as a rookie free agent and made the team after a strong preseason...was on the 53 man roster for all 16 games...was deactivated for every contest except one...played in his only NFL game to date vs Den. (10/26) when he saw action on the kick return team. "

Pat Williams was never on a practice squad.

Kurt Warner was never on a practice squad.

From Ralph's bio in the 1960 guide: "a young Detroit trucking and insurance executive".

That was last year.

https://static.www.nfl.com/league/apps/league-site/media-guides/2024/2024-Record-and-Fact-Book.pdf I was able to link the NFL Record and Fact Book

BUF.pdf (nfl.com) The link isn't working (2nd time today I couldn't link by copying address). Go to NFL.com, scroll down to media, click on media guides & hit the Bills one. Here's a link that you can read many years Bills media guides (47 of the 65 media guides are available). You have to click on the year's media guide and read it page by page: https://www.retroseasons.com/library/buffalo-bills-media-guide/

Remember when he was the next Josh Allen? Malik Willis: The next Josh Allen? - The Stadium Wall - Two Bills Drive Edit: I can't get this to link, it's on page 334 of The Stadium Wall. Here was my response: Albany,n.y. Posted February 2, 2022 I think he's the next Bo Levi Mitchell, the QB who Canadians wanted the Bills to sign before they drafted Josh. Good luck in the CFL Malik.

Like betting it on Bills games😃

Only if the Broncos are willing to give us their 1st round pick to take Wilson off their hands. I'd rather have Wilson the soccer ball than Zach Wilson.
-
He became a faster version of Josh Rosen. 😄

Not looking good: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/trey-lance-cinco-interceptions-top-10-cowboys-chargers-observations/ar-AA1pnnFA 1. TREY TALK - After almost three full preseason games, it's clear that Lance ain't "it." Definitely not the Cowboys' No. 2 quarterback of the present, nor the No. 1 quarterback of their future. Time and again this preseason - and again Saturday - Lance just wasn't accurate with his passes or savvy with his reads. He missed wide-open receivers with overthrows. He put the ball on the back hip of receivers running crossing routes, forcing them to significantly throttle down. And he complicated matters with poor decisions, throwing two interceptions with late deliveries to dangerous locations - including one pick in the end zone in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter he threw a Pick 6 to a linebacker he appeared to have never seen. To be fair, he also lofted a nice fade route for a score and another perfect pass dropped in the end zone by receiver Deontay Burnett. But it was far more woe than whoa! He accounted for 413 total yards of offense, but also what has to be a franchise-record for interceptions in a preseason game with one-two-three-four-FIVE. His signature play: a 46-yard touchdown sprint on a run-pass-option in which he didn't have to make a move and was never touched down the sideline. The Cowboys - especially Jerry - would have loved Lance to win the backup job from Cooper Rush. But it wasn't even close. In three games he went 77 of 113 (68 percent) for 662 yards, two touchdowns, five interceptions, six sacks and 170 yards rushing. Harsh truth: At this point in his development, Lance is a much better NFL running back than he is an NFL quarterback. Him in the shotgun is like the Wildcat, but not by design. Can the Cowboys draw up a specific package of plays to cater to Lance's elite athleticism? He can't be trusted with Red Zone passes, but his legs are a unique asset. He's Taysom Hill, with more wiggle and less physicality.

Do Athletes endorsements affect your purchasing?
Albany,n.y. replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've never bought anything or boycotted anything based on a celebrity endorsement. It's always the product that sells itself, not the endorser. If the product was good, I'd buy it no matter who sold it-I don't believe in boycotts of any product. -
Mitch is here for one reason-Josh Allen likes him (as evidenced by the fact Mitch & his wife were on the short list of invitees to Josh's Halloween party the last time they were in Buffalo). That's the #1 prerequisite for the Bills backup QB, similar to when Kelly was QB & Reich was one of his BFFs.
-
How could you possibly know that? The guy has hardly played & when he did, he was pretty awful. As of today, there's no evidence that Trey Lance is a major upgrade over anybody.
-
It got their GM fired. I imagine he still has nightmares about using the S2 test that helped him decide to pick an undersized QB over a guy who did poorly on an unreliable test.

Some Patriots fans think their 6th round QB Joe Milton III (JMIII) will have a better NFL career than Drake Maye.
