  1. Game ball to Buffalo Joe for playing in his 1st NFL game.
  2. Nick: It's now conventional wisdom you're a troll who gives hot takes for ratings.
  3. Caleb Williams out of the 1st round. 7 months away from a hit & run charge?
  4. In 2019 I thought NE was going to blow out the Jets in their 2nd meeting of the season. I went to the casino & was able to buy different points. I tiered the bets with the maximum NE -18.5 with the odds better the more points I gave. I would have gone even higher if they didn't cap the points at 18.5. NE won 33-0 and I cashed all my bets. Good luck, I hope you're right.
  5. Suddenly, Sam Darnold is playing like a top 3 pick when we need Minnesota to have a high draft pick. Remember when we thought the Vikings would be horrible and our 2nd round pick from the Diggs trade would be in the low 30s? It will be interesting to see what happens with Darnold after this season if he continues to play at a high level. Would Minnesota consider re-signing him to a big contract & putting McCarthy on the trade market or let Darnold walk in free agency. I could see the Giants making a big play for him if he's a UFA. Imagine him coming back to NY and winning as Giants QB while the Jets have nobody once Rodgers retires.
  6. I didn't get anything, but I was horrible in my pools. 3-11 so far and knocked out of suicide by the Giants, or should I say knocked out of suicide because I didn't realize. how washed up Watson is.
  7. I can handle watching with 1 or 2 Bills fans but I don't like bars where I can't hear the sound. Once in a while Petrino will come up from Beacon when the game is on here but not in NYC. I'm fine with that. When the game isn't on home TV, I'll go to OTB where they have booths with individual TVs. I used to watch the games there with the late Maury May Jr. (son of the old Buffalo News harness writer) but he passed in 2020 so now even at OTB, I watch it alone.
  8. Greg Joseph. Gano is hurt. So much for finding a replacement kicker in season-for all you replace Bass people.
  9. Carolina is so bad, they might have to move to the UFL.
  10. We may or may not be stuck with Bass. If he gets really bad (and I don't think one bad kick so far qualifies) they'll have no choice but to replace him. Now, in season, they'll have to settle for someone not good enough to make an opening day roster, but if Bass goes bad, they'll have no choice.
  11. No team is trading their kicker to the Bills. Might as well ask them to trade their best WRs too.
  12. I expect Elam to be traded during this season.
  13. I think we Bills fans can relate to the Panthers fans. In 2004 Bills GM Tom Donahoe wanted to draft Ben Roethlisberger but couldn't find a way to trade up (I still blame him for not offering enough to entice a team ahead of Pittsburgh to trade with him). So, after Pittsburgh drafts Roethlisberger 2 picks before the Bills, Donahoe trades up later in the 1st round to draft J P Losman giving his 2005 pick to Dallas. In 2005 the Bills pick sent to Dallas is #20. At #24 Green Bay picks Aaron Rodgers.
  14. He played well his rookie & 3rd seasons. In year 4 he was playing with an injury & gutted it out. So, after a mediocre sophomore season and an injury plagued 4th season, Cleveland went for Watson when he was available, dumping the guy who played when he really shouldn't have. Now he was bad in Carolina, but every QB who plays in Carolina looks bad. Years ago, when a 1st or 2nd round QB was dumped by the team that drafted him while still on his rookie contract, it was a career death sentence. Suddenly, guys like Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are coming back from the NFL graveyard. Who knows, maybe somewhere in SoCal Josh Rosen is getting his hopes up for a comeback where he can finally prove there really were 9 mistakes ahead of him. 😄
  15. This reminds me a lot of EJ Manuel's 2nd season here. Benched for a veteran by a coach who has seen enough of him to realize he's a bust & replacing him before the coach loses the locker room. Also similar to when Kelly Holcomb replaced JP Losman. It doesn't take a coach very long to have a QB who sucks in games & practice enough so that the coach goes into self preservation mode & benches the young guy because the veteran "gives us the best chance of winning Sunday"
  16. Will Levis is 2 for 2 getting game balls. Unfortunately for Tennessee, it's their opponents awarding him game balls. I looked at the QB depth charts & it's amazing how many bad QBs occupy other teams' rosters.
  17. I think Caleb Williams shares a similar problem with Bryce Young, the last two #1 picks. Even though he's bigger than Young, they're both undersized for an NFL QB. If you draft an undersized QB & the put him behind an average or below average O-line, he isn't going to make it. While I still don't buy that you can ruin a QB, you surely can put him on the path to a short career with a really bad O-line. My best case that you can't ruin a QB by sending him out as a rookie with a bad O-line & no talent around him is our own Josh Allen. The 2018 Bills had what might have been the worst O-line in team history. They also had no receivers & Josh was running for his life half the time. The fact that he made a guy like Robert Foster look like a legit NFL WR, showed that even as a rookie with bad stats, he was already elevating the players around him. Josh was just unbreakable as are most talented QBs. If they can't learn to be better by experiencing adversity, they were never destined for stardom to begin with.
  18. Just about every QB who people say was ruined didn't have the ability to be an NFL QB and fans just don't want to admit their team is no good at scouting QBs. Now a QB may end up on a team that stunted their growth, but they didn't ruin him. The best example from current players is Baker, who played for two of the worst teams for a QB. He wasn't ruined, just had a temporary roadblock. Look at a guy like Josh Rosen. Anyone who says he was ruined should never be allowed to watch another NFL game. We didn't ruin EJ or JP. They were picked by lousy GMs and bad scouts.
  19. You'll be waiting a while for McDaniel since he recently signed an extension & has a built-in excuse with Tua out. Saleh is on thin ice in NJ. You may get your wish pretty soon on that one. Chances are he & GM Douglas will both be let go.
  20. I'm concerned the cops will pull the Bills bus over and handcuff all the Bills starters. 😀
  21. In the middle of the game, I got a call from someone in Springville, so I picked it up and it was someone conducting a survey. I told her "I'm watching the Bills game, I don't have time for a survey." The Bills won because I chose them over a phone survey.
  22. Let's give Watson a break. He's no Brett Favre, and maybe that's a good thing. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/browns-deshaun-watson-says-loss-of-father-friend-took-emotional-toll-heading-into-week-1-game-vs-cowboys/ar-AA1qgYPj?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=HCTS&cvid=2be384ce24f3492c816944328065ff8e&ei=142 Watson had a lot more on his mind than just the football game, losing his father and a former teammate the week leading up to the season opener. The 28-year-old said he isn't using it as an excuse, but the deaths took an emotional toll on him. "At the end of the day, football is definitely something that you got to take very, very seriously and it's our job, it's our career, but you know, there are other things that are bigger than this," Watson said, via SI.com. "I lost my dad Friday. I lost my brother, my teammate yesterday, Diondre Overton, only 26 years old. So, yeah, I mean, it's been a long week ... it wasn't even really about football."
  23. This is so stupid. How many coaches make it 7 years? I'm guessing not many. It's not that the players get tired since there's so much player turnover. It's more because coaches are hired by underachieving teams & it's tough to turn a team around enough not to get fired within 7 years when you start with a bad team. The only teams that keep coaches around that long are teams that acquired a franchise QB before the coach could get fired. A franchise QB can carry a coach for many seasons. Maybe the real stat is no coach has lasted 7 years without a franchise QB.
  24. He going to be arrested after the game for stealing millions from the Browns.
  25. We lost about 1/3 of our entrants. I have 2 entries & had the Bills & Bears & was down 14 & 17 points early & pulled out both games. I also had a bet on the Bears -4 & it was looking very bleak at 17-0, but the D & special teams came through for the Bears, although the throw on the pick 6 by Levis was a boneheaded play. The game got turned around by Simone Biles' husband on special teams.
