Andrew Van Ginkel gets paid. One year $23 Million extension

He did, in the 7th round. You have to stick around for the entire draft. -

He can get some back if he's Mr. Irrelevant. For example American Express "I thought I'd go #1 before the draft, but instead I became Mr. Irrelevant. But, when I walk into a store with this card, I'm Mr. Relevant again." -

The race blaming for his fall is all over the internet-mostly said by people who don't watch sports & are always looking to stir things up on a topic they know nothing about. It's like the people who see a story on the news that has nothing to do with their agenda, but condemn the person who the story is about to make what is usually a ridiculous point. They do this on all sorts of topics they are ignorant of. -

Very similar to the 1978 NFL draft. People have bought into Warren Moon's story for decades that nobody in the NFL would play him at QB because of his race, somehow forgetting the facts that Moon signed with the CFL BEFORE the NFL draft (the real reason he went undrafted) & that Doug Williams, the 1st QB selected in the 1978 draft, was a 1st round pick the same year. -

Must be a COVID thing that I missed because when I saw he played 4 years already, I thought he was done with college ball. -

He's already used up all his college eligibility. Do you want to see college veterans who eventually retire from playing a decade or 2 of college ball? 😄 -

Mel has aged about 10 years each round Shedeur went undrafted. If he goes undrafted, Mel will look like this by the end of the draft: -

Cleveland has 1 more 3rd round pick & Las Vegas has 2 back to back comp picks. Shedeur doesn't make it out of the 3rd round. -
Chris Berman used to tip the Bills pick on the ESPN broadcast before the Bills turned in the card. He'd say a "cab driver" told him. The best one was when the guys on the broadcast were getting ready for the Bills pick & Berman says "how about John Fina?" a guy who was so far off Mel Kiper's radar that he didn't even get a writeup in Kiper's draft report.

Willis was touted as a 1st round pick. He was even said to be "The next Josh Allen" even though he's about half the size😄. From the middle of the 1st, the guys on ESPN kept mentioning him & trying to guess where he'd go. The Shedeur Sanders hype is very similar to Willis regardless of their differences on the field. -
Bills First Rnd pick in 2025 draft: Maxwell Hairston - CB - Kentucky
Albany,n.y. replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nope. Taiwan Jones (no relation to the former Bills player), played linebacker at Michigan State before spending two seasons with the New York Jets (2015-16). -

My favorite draft guru was Dave Te' Thomas, who died 4 & 1/2 years ago. I 1st heard Dave Te' on a radio show & saw him on various cable sports shows. In the late 1990s I was a subscriber to his "Poor Man's Guide to the NFL Draft" that he later renamed the NFL Draft Report. During one interview he gave out a phone number to order his draft report. I called the number from my desk at work and he answered the phone himself. One of the 1st things he said was the price, which was around $70, much more expensive than the other guides. I figured I'd try it to see if it was worth it (it was!) and then he started talking about football & a lot of other stuff. He talked about how they thought he was going to die from cancer & one publication even announced his death while he was hospitalized. After about 45 minutes I had to get back to work and we ended our conversation. When the Poor Man's Guide arrived at my apartment's door, it came in multiple boxes. There were comprehensive reports on a lot of prospects totaling hundreds of pages. In later years his work was on the internet as he no longer published his printed guide. Dave Te' battled cancer for about 25 years before passing on 10/14/2020. One of his last drafts was 2018, he had the right QB as "the cream of the crop". https://www.bigblueview.com/2018/4/21/17264242/nfl-draft-report-josh-allen-cream-of-quarterback-crop-2018-nfl-draft-sam-darnold-josh-rosen

We don't need a QB or LS, but we really need a PUNTER. The ghost of Al Davis says go for it.

With stories like this, more like No I. It seems like the elementary school kids were busy during their Easter break. -
Years ago, before I found a place where I can have my own TV with sound on, I used to go to satellite bars & listen on the radio which was ahead of the TV. Sometimes I couldn't help myself & started cheering and telling my friends "wait until you see this". Sometimes I'm on the phone with Petrino & one of us has an earlier home broadcast feed (usually him because he gets the NYC channel). I don't mind being told ahead of time, because I don't have a suspense gene. I prefer to know ASAP & I even will go on the internet when I'm home watching a movie to find out how it ends. You can't spoil anything for me.

This is more proof of the uselessness of QB stats. You need to be tied to a chair & forced to watch hours of Kelly playing & Cousins playing and you will be cured of your obsession of stats.

A bargain. Not only do you get a nice house, but you can go next door & tell the coach what he's doing wrong. A disgruntled fan's dream house.

What is your favorite serendipitous draft story?
Albany,n.y. replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Remember, Elway would have traded pick 5 to the Bills if B. Chubb was off the board. So not only was Elway not taking Allen, but he was going to trade the pick to the Bills so the Bills could draft Allen. One of the all time best stories involves Brett Favre. Jets head of player personnel, Ron Wolf, loved Brett Favre, but the Jets didn't have a 1st round pick. Atlanta drafts Favre 1 pick before the Jets in the 2nd round. A year later Wolf gets the GB GM job & trades for Favre who goes on to have a HOF career. -
