  1. I've played football and rugby. it'll happen on accident sure (like head on head collisions) but with some practice and an enforced rule, i think it will happen less. people said what you said about going too high or low on the qb in the pocket. now, if you are saying the rules are overly officious, sure i agree, but we've seen less insane hits on QBs than there used to be, so they can do something about hip drops too.
  2. you can "hip drop" your hips away from his legs, will be an effective tackle as well. i think this is enforceable if they make it the grab, the drag, and the body onto the back of the legs. eliminate one of the 3, no flag.
  3. you bring up some good points, but i feel like we lose, or barely win, the games where davis breaks out. if him doing better doesn't make our team results better, then i gotta think he's not making the team better.
  4. ive not been following college football, so i dunno about this guy, but the likelyhood of any given guy busting out is like close to 50%, and of the remaining 50%, you got lots of room for good but not great. i say we trade everything and draft him.
  5. it probably is impossible, even if we had something to trade for him and he wanted to come here, due to the cap. that said, diggs addams and davis, w kinkaid and cook and allen is a legit unstoppable O. in games where we play bad like we did vs jags, giants, and jets, we'd still put up 30+ points.
  6. a three possession second half is crazy. missing long field goals has a much more negative impact than i think it is thought too, especially for us.
  7. so, the nfl has almost entirely copied what mcd (and others, lets be honest) more or less pioneered, the disguise coverage deep safety very balanced 4-3 D. that can be run more or less aggressively, but everyone is 4-3 nickel base now. So ya, it makes sense they put this stuf fin to slow down mahomes and allen (and have done so, for the most part). to me our issue is the oc and allen together don't read things presnap to punish the d for being biased in their D. we sort of try to beat all defenses w every play, but if the other team is playing advantage football taking one thing away, it should leave them soft vs something else and we don't do a good enough job of reading that and exploiting it. not having a zone buster like bease makes us hold the ball too long vs zone, josh not running doesn't punish man enough, and imo a big issue is our protections are simple and exploitable, so when there are long developing zone beater routes, we might get a stunt and overload on the spencer brown side, and then we have what we did vs jax. it's all correctable, but do we have the coaching to do it?
  8. at 17:00 or so we faced man coverage and people were covered, josh had a huge running late to his left. if he can just identify man coverage and his general advantage or disadvantage, and green lights himself a few more times, we win this and the jags game in a laugher.
  9. having zero athletes on O besides cook and diggs is an issue. davis is ok deep, but is not fast or big. knox is an athlete, but just can't catch. maybe kinkaid will work out, but honestly, we shoulda let hines and harty walk, and signed hopkins or someone. we'd be 4-1 or 5-0
  10. its gotta be easier to d us when we don't run the best (or tied) running qb in the nfl, can't do a screen play, and are allergic to quick slants. you just avoid man D, disguise what you are doing, and let the bills call something stupid. not to say we aren't good on O, we are near the best, but we are too ready to beat ourselves.
  11. Einstein (name appropriately) pointed out how the g men were very determined in what they were doing, biting on nothing, and stunting and gaming up front to disrupt longer routes. if they aren't gonna bite, running out of an under center formation would be productive, which it was, but we decided to not bother with all of that, and to just play into the D's trap instead. we need some zone beaters, and to figure out where our run game gives us the best returns. imo we can absolutely run the ball, but we power into loaded boxes and do foolish things like a telegraphed sprint draw from shot gun over and over. to me, josh's biggest weakness is reading the pre snap d and adjusting protections or audibling into a better play for the situation. its clear we need to run play action, and we need to actually run the ball. the runs and passes should look identical to the d, and the thing is they don't. we have such tendencies that guys just know what we are doing.
  12. aside from miami, this is the theme of our O. the plays we call do not set up future plays, nor make sense in the context of the score, time, and field location. dorsey is playing madden like my 7 year old son. just calls whatever pass or run pops up first.
  13. Dorsey is too slow on the uptake. he has to learn to adapt better. i don't know that he's worse than dabo tho. i remember harping on about dabo just like calling random plays, not rhythm and no bread and butter stuff, same w dorsey.
  14. aside from far too many junk play calls (shotgun runs right into the d has happened like 6 times off the dome, and each ended a drive), imo our real issue is the Ds know our routes, and most of all our protections stink. every time an overload, a creative stunt, or some kind of pressure or coverage disguise is put out there, we just don't pick it up cleanly. Josh does not process stuff before the snap well enough, and blah pass rush teams can create pressure off of design because we just don't pick it up. im starting to get on board this wagon (im pretty much on). josh and some of the guys we have are getting a bit wasted.
  15. mcd's d is about the front. he can slap in a blah lb and not drop off too too badly from milano (yes, it's a drop off, but im impressed w how it's not fatal w dodson), and he's had more undrafted and late round dbs than i can think of. his prize possession on D is the fleet of wreckers up front. he's finally got that, i think he moves a guy only if we get some top flight corner or mayhaps an ultra talented WR out of it. otherwise, he wants his bread and butter to be stacked high.
  16. i totally didnt' see it that way until i watched some replays and the all 22. he had like 2 key not great throws, plenty of great ones, and if he did anything wrong it was not audible out of runs vs a human wall of defenders. if cook and or knox have avg games we win that.
  17. so are injuries. i read something -- a lack of sleep is like a 200+% increase factor for injuries.
  18. we lost 3 total games in the regs in 2022 by a total of 8 points. in 2021 we lost to the jags when the stank and at one point were 7-6 in 2022 we went into the playoffs with no confidence and kinda stole games late vs new england and hosting miami w a guy from the stands at qb. in 2021 we were only consecutive disastrous blunders from beating kc in kc and hosting an afc chip game with insane momentum. i feel pretty bad about this season right now, but there is a whole lot of football to be played. one thing, we can block and when we do it right, we can run. that's all new.
  19. This is a reasonable point, but where our o really failed was on first down, and up the gut runs out of shotgun. We just don't out pressure on the opponents d when we don't move the ball on first down. On our two late scoring drives, you could tell out the gate they were good because we hit plays right away, and fairly quickly. On the rest save one it was just slow and meandering or we got blown up fast. The shotgun hand offs for losses or maybe a short gain gave to go. They serve no purpose, they make the d account for nothing. No one has ever bought our play action out of shotgun, rpos and under center play action kills guys, but that one play just has to go. I think the two are related. Good ds just know a few of our tendencies and attack because that's they only way to stop us. Mcd needs to scout our own o like he did Miami and show Dorsey what has to get cut out.
  20. So, we really do suck hard in close games. We need to get a big lead, and we usually do. At that point it's a question if so we hold on, or do we let it slip away (jets game this year, minni prior year, etc). Not worried about our loss as much as the injuries. Just way too many top guys out, and potentially for the season. Josh Allen was not sharp, if he were we'd have had one or two more tds a d win the game. Allen has not showed the ability to be consistent. Our whole team is that way. We are total can crushers. We're not an easy out, but we save our best football for when the outcome of the game is not in the balance. It's getting very uninspiring and I hate to be that guy, but you look at the head coach when that happens
  21. gillis is a fan of/buddies with spencer brown too. he's also had some terrifying/hilarious run ins w richie incognito
  22. i suspect tre is done as a bill, and possibly done w football all together. given his cap, how he is not who he was a few years ago, and two massive season ending injuries and a lot of time missed, i think you walk away
  23. our coaching now is better than it was when we lost the 21 second game. offense and defense, and i think HC too as mcD seems to have learned some lessons. with floyd, von, and even tiny bernard (i can't believe im saying that) we also have playmakers on D we didn't have back then. on O, the biggest issue w our team after the 2020 and 2021 season was 1) blocking, and 2) we just could not get production from the TE and RB positions. we've made huge strides there, altho we don't have the TE production i kinda expected, if fools are gonna let diggs get open, that doesn't really matter so much.
  24. it's pretty clearly red zone offense IMO, out of the list. no rushing josh on 4th and 1 is a bit of a sin IMO, he's too good at it to stop without getting stopped. also, if i was adding an item to the list, it would be 1st down offense. we are awful on 1st this season. i've gotta think a small change in that gives us big returns.
  25. off my face don't where i am, because im in Ibiza with GunnerBills man. off my face don't where i am, because im in Ibiza with GunnerBills man. off my face don't where i am, because im in Ibiza with GunnerBills man.
