  1. i think if i know a couple more bits of info (is oher broke now? what else happened to sour the relationship between all of them? any other sordid biz details for that family) i could predict who is in the "right/wrong" and how this will play out. i suppose it could also be a total misunderstanding. like, did they try to do the right thing and his agent or adviser or some such decided to push him another way, or did the film company just screw him over themselves? juicy!
  2. ya, that's true. i'm thinking post 2017 season it's been so long.
  3. assuming we can run block some and our new big backs and a growing cook give us a bit of power, an EP offense run by josh allen out of a two TE single back set is a scary scary sight. if diggs and harty are the WRs (won't be a problem of lack of blocking w the big bodies near the line) you have match up speed and agility issues at both TE slots (how many nfl teams can say that?), RB, both WR, and allen himself is a problem.
  4. This is the second high profile trade w the gmen we failed to ink. the first was to the 2nd pick in 2017 where we targeted allen. big baller is so aggressive!
  5. i presume dc is gonna suck on O, but that's cuz they sucked on O before. even a great OC is gonna have an uphill climb (no idea how good beinemy actually is) i do remember bill parcels saying you always start out as mean as you are gonna be. you can get softer later, and people will appreciate it. if you start out nice and get meaner, people will resent you and not buy you being serious. from that POV, he's prolly starting out as best as he can.
  6. on d we are worse at MLB, but (right now, based on where we were last season) way better at pass rush, similar to better at corner, and way better at safety. on O we are better by a bit at RT (healthy brown vs banged up, don't have too much expectation here tho), way better at both OG positions. WR we are a little bit better (the ghosts of brown and bease getting signed on our super bowl run tell us everything), TE we are much better, and RB we are better (cook growing, our vets now are better than devin) but not by much given hines went down. what matters, aside from allen and diggs and the usual, more than anything tho, is our D line has to get pressure on passers and our OL has to block. if that happens, we can win the chip. if it doesn't we are going to have to be near perfect in other areas.
  7. well, i said he is over playing how effortless it all is for him. he trains like a psycho and that's been known about him since he was in highschool ( think his dad or uncle or someone was an NFL pro). my bet is he's just a person w a small appetite, and as such he can get away w eating all the junk he wants because he just doesn't want that much junk. with supplements and healthy food at the training center and so on, he'll get enough nutrients to keep him going. i remember brock lasner was ufc champ having learned 3 submissions and how to close a fist, but he had literally no idea how to actually fight but his power and talent was enough to get him to the top. then, he lost half his guts after getting diverticulitis (crazily, he defended his belt once after that, which is just insane). talking to rogan or someone after the fact, he explained you have to eat your vegetables, it can't just be meat and potatoes -- i can see a similar end for Dk and other players who eat like trash. over time they will accumulate health issues from a horrible diet and high physical output, but if it doesnt' impact their actual nfl performance that much no one really cares. and of course with respect to your point about DK not being natural (brock wasn't either, he popped at least twice) -- my basic assumption is anyone who makes real money off of their body's performance or appearance is doing just about anything they can to maximize that. IMO the people who are not using/never used any kind of PED or whatever else can enhance performance are few and far between.
  8. not only was LF a turtle of a man calling the D and getting predictable and lame in big situations, but i sure it made the players less confident. Corch mcd is putting his nuts on the line this season, there will be zero place to hide if his very expensive D falls apart again. I think he's going to show improve, but it will have to play out for us to see.
  9. what an apt comparison. perhaps a counterpoint (but perhaps not) i remember the hard knocks dallas cowboys a while back, TO was one of the few cowboy players in the one scene who didn't have to drop some weight to hit goal. guys asked him how it was possible, and he said "because i don't need to eat everything i see". he went to a fast food joint, and had a card that told him what he could eat within his calorie ranges and such, and he ordered off of it, and drove off. it was less food that i would eat (way way less at the time) but that's why he never had to cut in camp to hit playing weight I think DK eats garbage, but basically self regulates enough to not eat so much of it it makes him fat. in terms of nutrients, he prolly gets enough vitamins and such and healthy food during the season at the team facilities that he's fine. also, i think he over plays how easy going and not detail oriented he is. pete caroll wouldn't sign him to a huge contract if he just didn't give an f or do what he's told. pretty amazing guy tho, really happy we drafted cody ford instead of him. :<
  10. rbs get smashed to bits, but honestly they should all be spending a lot more time learning how to be short area WRs, growing up too. if RBs were like marshall faulk and therman thomas now, guys who can run but also block and be slot wrs and hbacks, they'd be getting a lot more cash and a lot more glory. the fact that a good but not all pro guard in the nfl gets 10mm, and a top flight tackle gets 20, shows you that the front offices think the blocking is the better part of the run game, and now the passing game is by far the better part of the offense.
  11. great thread! i have to say, at first i was really questioning McBean thinking they were making a dumb old school stubborn move of just doubling down on the same mistake over and over/fighting last years battles, but now maybe they are right. im talking about the move by mccorch to double down on the D by bringing in pass rushers/resigning oliver, re upping poy etc, and making the lil movement at MLB letting edmunds walk, and most of all taking over play calling. I think the POV there is the O w allen is elite, and will always be so. our D on paper is number one, but on the field especially in playoffs we fold. if we are 1 full st deviation above the NFL in terms of points per drive, then a high ranking d should put us in the drivers seat, but we have the number one and most def not in that seat. the best part is we will either prove the concept or prove mccoach doesn't have it this season.
  12. offensive weapon production was our most obvious problem last year (signing brown and bease out of the UPS application process proves this) but our 3 biggest team weaknesses were 1 blocking 2 pass rush down the stretch 3 defensive predictability/passiveness/inability to adjust they've thrown the kitchen sink at these items over the past 3 years. we signed dude from the rams, von is coming back, and aj, groot, and the young guys on the team (not to mention resigning oliver, not that i'm a huge booster of his) are in a position to show what they got. on OL, the basically got 2 new IOL starters, and we have some kind of competition at RT, and obv we hope brown's back is healed on D scheme/coaching, we made the biggest change (at least one year late IMO). removing the wood of frasier and having the top guy in the organization clapping at the d in his scheme is the most aggressive thing a head coach can do. does anyone remember when the giants HC blew out the OC and called offensive plays himself? that lead to the giants to getting to the superbowl. they lost badly to the ravens, but the talent level on that giants team was like barely top 10. the OC that got the boot was sean payton, who is obviously a good coach. it just wanst working and the change made a very positive impact for them. I think McD might be able to get the same impact this year
  13. i don't know how much they will play him, but i expect cook to be a monster when he does play. im still baffled by hines, they just don't want to throw rb passes or use him it seems. i think elam is a starter if not all year then most of the year. i suspect tre might get either hurt again, or sat for banford to start over him at some point.
  14. well, mcd took the big step up this offseason getting rid of our dead weight wooden DC. he's dual hatting now, this is his shot to be remembered forever as a champion.
  15. Or, it will prove the naysayers wrong. McD has taken on a much bigger role than what is being discussed in the media (not here obv, we love to chat about this ish!) having his DC leave to take over the D with the moves we have made is him jumping in front to put his stamp on the team. if we fall short of the afc chip game, i think there is some hard times ahead at OBD. if we make the super blow and lose, i really don't know, if we win it all, then it's fandemonium.
  16. i trust our team to draft, sign, and develop secondary players better than literally anyone else.
  17. a fixture on the buffet line for sure.
  18. i was wondering if someone would chime in w a story about what they did to get a kiko alonso jersey in the stadium parking lot (remember that news article?) i was wondering if someone would chime in w a story about what they did to get a kiko alonso jersey in the stadium parking lot (remember that news article?)
  19. our super high dvoa shows that at our best we can beat anyone at any time in any situation, largely a function of our big play reducing D and our big play producing unicorn qb. we tend to lose the same way, where we face a decent team who finds a weak spot and just keeps pressing it and we have no answer and allen tries playing on his head and making the impossible happen (sometimes too soon in the game, where he forces mistakes) and a block gets blown or someone drops a pass and we come up just short (or the d does the equivalent). the exciting part is we can fix this by handling some of the more basic business as usual football stuff w some blocking and running and adjustments on D. i really think this year we made enough moves and mcd taking over the d will give the team a nasty and aggressive edge that will suit us better overall.
  20. lol, good point. these guys spin a narrative, but are too lazy to spend 10 minutes covering the loose ends.
  21. OK, so i think we can say that our defensive roster is officially better than last season. minus edmunds, but plus floyd, LB out of Tulane, rapp, more seasoning for our two rook CBs, healthy poy hyde and white (not to mention von). On O, it's not a huge diff, but i think improvement at two OG positions and hopefully brown having a functioning back turns our late year OL from cheeks to mid pack. RB and TE, as well as WR depth have improved as well. as much as i feel that our last two seasons were our shot, and felt deflated after we stunk out the stadium from the jump vs cinci, based on the cap to come due in the future and the moves made all offseason, this is like an extra chance at the chip, let's hope we make it happen.
  22. should not surprise anyone. i mean, he had athletic traits out of control since the day we drafted him, and has had flashes but is simply not very productive. that more or less leaves his mentality/brains.
  23. what's with the frazier ball washing here? the bills dump tons of resources into the D, so of course they are going to have an at least good D. it's not like he took 11 UDFA and made them world beaters. Generally good regular season rankings coupled with horrible lapses to end the past 3 seasons while our O has been en fuego w allen means he's just not good enough, and that's why he got thrown out the door. he gets the guys (very well paid highly drafted guys, no less) well prepared to play on game day, but never adjusts and is predictable.
  24. i don't get some of the comments here -- the bills O was much more consistent especially running the ball at the end of 2022 than 2021. we were crazy up and down in 2021, we just had two super hot performances by allen in the playoffs, and i think if we beat KC in that game w win the chip (sad). we were more effective running under dorsey with nearly no net difference in results and that's why our record was better. we were 7-6 at one point in 2021, and we had some stinkers on o even late in the year. the moves might not work out, the coaches might not be as good as i think they can be, guys could get injured, etc etc, but the direction of travel is obvious: we added OL talent, we added pass catchers, and we added big strong thumping RBs. this team wants to run the EP offense to perfection, and that includes two TE sets, running to hold the lead and demoralize, and using match ups and play calling to exploit mismatches. i have no doubt we will see hero ball from josh, and that he will be the whole team at least some of the time, and obv he's gonna put up all timer highlights, but mcd wants to attack more on D and frustrate and grind out opponents more on O. I for one think the experiment will work soundly.
  25. honestly -- i heard JK say that and i figured he was just a bit old school. then after reams of offseason data, analysis, and the above OP, it's pretty flipping clear we simply don't run the ball well enough, especially late in the year/playoffs. allen is the entire team way way way too often. if nothing changes on O except we bridge the gap in terms of RB production between us and KC as shown above in this thread, that puts us pretty strongly on a super bowl run.
