Fitzpatrick's veiled criticism of Dorsey?
colin replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall
facts. I like the kinda takes you (and alpha and a few others) post. kind of gut feel stuff mixed w observable data. not the like more structured/theoretical stuff we are all inundated with. i lose my ish at dorsey, and then i look at our stats for his entire term here, and they are basically just like dabol but more consistent, so i think he just needs a boot in the butt to elimiate the bad plays -
giving the Bucs the short sideline throws on their final possession
colin replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
our team is horrible in key situational football scenarios. for all our ability to score at the end of halfs, allen is what, 0-6 in over time games? we have competent coaches all week, but on game day we have some real morons. -
Fitzpatrick's veiled criticism of Dorsey?

I didn't agree w this at first, and frankly not certain i do now, but this is a good point. to me the real failing of dorsey tonight was showing a lack of feel for the game. 2nd and long runs out of shot gun for no gain/loss, shot gun run on 3rd and inches at the goal line, and this goofy quick screen to the te on 4th and 1 on the goal line is just all a bit goofy. if allen sneaks 2 times in a row, i'd say we have about a 90% chance of getting over a yard. The Knox injury unfortunately has changed this offense for the better
colin replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
i like the guy, and he's great to watch when he's doing well, but he's honestly a square peg in a round hole and it's not working. he never caught a td in college, played on a team w dk and aj, so we just assumed he wasn't targetted as much. he's a sick athlete, but not a sick football player. our offense is better with other guys on the field, now that we have kinkaid at least. -
We're such a stupid loser team sometimes

i really have to cancel my subscription. such a garbage rag. -
i agree w the above, but as it has been pointed out, our d is playing awful and that is mcd's calling card. if he doesn't get the d turned around hard w a quickness, then im gonna count myself among the haters and say we need to move on from him.
-
the pats smart plan and allen's bad pick on the first play is why we didn't boat race the pats. if we had 3 more not terrible drives we put up like 35 points. the d being utter cheeks is why we lost. our d has sucked monkey member since the miami game. this is on mcd. losing top players means we won't be a top 5 d, i get it, but if your claim to fame is being a genius dc, you gotta get what you have to about average, and be able to stop a team cold a couple times a game when needed. vs jax and the pats, we just got trucked.
-
i get blackpilled in the moment, im guilty of that. looking at this team the way a handicapper does, the defense simply has to get back to competency, and you have the match up nightmare we've been for 4 seasons now. at times it feels like it will never happen, but adding a guy or two before the deadline would help, DT followed by corner and then WR (or RT, but i don't think that's possible right now) would make the biggest impact. if our d just pulled its head out on a couple drives we win 2 more games even with the trash we have put up. i just hope mcd can get taht going, but my faith is not high at the moment.
-
i keep thinking the o is falling apart, but the more i read and look into it, the more awful the d looks. a couple early scores will help w that, but mcd has to get the guys who are healthy lined up and going the right places.
-
the handicappers still have us as big favs, like we were the last two weeks. i think the read through is vegas figures we will right out defensive struggles, which will lead to us running up the score on teams again. i hope they are right, because we have dumped so much into the d, we have to get some kind of return

Josh’s stats so far - the Ken Dorsey Offense
colin replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
i think you misread that alpha. those offensive numbers are only weeks 5-7! i rewatched some stuff from those games. the issue is our D is doing what it did in allen's first year here, just getting boat raced constantly. that was the year mcd stepped in and took duties (from time to time) from frazier. i really hope he can right this ship like he did that one, because our d is just the worst it's been since then. missing guys or not, we let mc jones dog walk us on like 3 or 4 different drives. if we are built to stop the big play, we can't just not allow it over the top, we have to do something to prevent it underneath too. screens and sweeps going for 30 yards due to lack of flowing to the ball is just inexcusable. it's basic football and our coaches have to get who they have healthy to play it. -
Kincaid Was Great Against the Pats* - And It Could Have Been Even Better

if the o just features cook and kinkaid, along w diggs and a runner in allen, it isn't possible to stop it consistently. -

i think this kid is a star, if we pass to him 7 times a game he will lead the nfl. the whole EP offense is based around match ups and a lot of that is TE. i really want him, diggs, cook, and allen to be the whole show. -

dorsey is bothersome, but honestly, his offensive stats last year and this year are close enough to dabol's it's not like we lost andy reid and picked up dennison. the big issue, and it was an issue under dabol too, is that we just don't have a scheme that puts us in an advantage position. everything new england did vs us on d and on o was a function of scheme and execution of that scheme. pre snap reads, basic play action, screens and sweeps when linebackers weren't being disciplined, easy quick developing passes based on the pre snap line up, etc. for us, it seems like we just call something, which nearly every second down is the wrong thing and the d has it dead, or we go hurry up and allen just uses allen powers to do allen things. we would be 2 wins better if we just elimated the bad play on offense as much as can be done. but without a base/identity to fall back on and to get ahead of the sticks, every play we have is like a flip of a magic 8 ball, might work, might not, and we have no idea when we flip it. -
Shakir needs to be given some of Gabe’s snaps…prove me wrong
colin replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
we are running stuff that doesnt' work, we are running stuff that does work, and we are running some real goof stuff that needs to get gone. we still can score on anyone, allen is still allen. im for whatever change up will loosen things up. one thing, we nee allen, cook, diggs, and dalton w the ball in their hands making plays more, not less. bringing in murray to run picks and knox to drop targets just isn't working. allen isnt' running at all now. that's a serious weapon we haven't taken the safety off of yet. i do think if we can get better prepared pre snap sooner (we figure it out, but late in the game), and just design stuff to hit those 3 weapons and allen, we can be monsters again. on d, we need mcd to earn his paycheck -

the way mcd teams get up and down, and get run out of the building a time or two every year, makes me think we are NOT consistent in our preparation, certainly not in mind set at least. i think this team went ape for miami, and kinda shot their wad. there was a real hangover, guys didn't sleep well getting to london, and lack of sleep is the number one predictor of injuries, so there we go. our team, and our qb, are front runners. when we get up on people, we murder them (look at all the next gen stats for years), but when a team can have any advantage on us, our d wilts and our O struggles. so, i do think we just played down to our opposition 3 games in a row due to lack of prep, -
Never thought I’d say this. Sean McDermott is a stupid coach.

watching a replay of the final drive, you san say what you want about guys being hurt, but mac the turd was throwing right on time to guys streaking open all off of pre snap reads. the opening screen play for half the friggen field had nothing to do w guys being hurt, it was an obvious d call that the pats read because we don't change jack, and unprepared players making mistakes. when the chips are down, mcd comes up short and is an open book to well coached teams. -

dorsey should be drawing up plays to get the ball to diggs, kinkaid, and cook over all others. -
that's true, but the rams have an offensive genius HC, and they never had a qb like we do. spent big for goff, and spent way bigger than we ever have for staffy. to me the issue is mcd is too fussy about who plays what position and how on his D, and so he has to over pay for older less athletic guys. it seems just too fragile schematically, where we get trucked by literally the worst offense in the nfl if we have some injuries. and that's why i think we have these awful contracts which means we are stuck w gabe as our only guy when diggs is doubled. at least kincaid come out today
-
Loool It's crazy to me how every single one of the bills injuries is to a player who simply cannot be replaced, yet other teams lose guys and somehow still play well
