  1. I dont know it is in your neck of the woods, but used car lots here in SWV are ghost towns. The Toyota dealership used to have 30-40 used vehicles on the lot. Today there were 4 when I drove by. A "mom & pop" used car place has 8 when they usually have 25-30 used vehicles. As far as leasing goes, Now that Mrs. Lew and I are retired our work driving mileage has gone from a combined 800 miles per week to less than 80 miles per week. The mileage factor was the key blockage to us ever leasing a vehicle. Now I would consider it. Good luck to the OP. As one poster indicated, it really helps to do your homework. I collected data for 2 months before I bought the Outback in 2018.
  2. Tudors Biscuit World is everywhere here in WV. A major contributor to the high obesity level in the Mountain State. Biscuits are large and have a large variety of combinations. My favorite includes fried bologna, egg and cheese. It is called "The Politician"
  3. Another favorite is the telemarketer will ask if they can reduce my mortgage interest rates. I'll ask, Can you go below "0.00 % " as my house is paid for. End of call. Last year we bought new house phones. (Yes I still have a landline). One of the features was the ability to "block" calls. We filled up that feature in 2 weeks.. One of the best things is to stay on the line as long as possible, since some of these callers get paid by the number of calls they make.
  4. For the most part I ignore the calls. But every now and then I'll begin a conversation in German. And yes a great deal of German profanity occurs. The call quickly ends even before the profanity
  5. I gave the gas mower to my SIL who just bought a house in our neighborhood.
  6. Update.. I pulled the plug and bought the Ego mower that is last years model. It is self propelled and has a bagger, mulcher or side discharge system. The battery took an hour to fully charge out of the box. The mower itself is light. I mean really light. The height of the mower deck is easy to adjust with one controller. I had it set one setting higher than my old mower, so the grass is higher than previous mowing. I have set it down one setting for the next mowing. It took 45 minutes to mow and that is normal. And the mower is very quiet. I gave my gas mower to SIL who is moving into the neighborhood. As far as the illegal aliens , there are not that many here in SWV other than those folks from KY who head to WV for work.
  7. We are headed to Lewiston in August for our 50 year HS reunion. Yes, Mrs. Lew and I are HS Sweethearts. Tha'ts about it. Our time has been and will be spent in "grandma & grandpa" mode. A cruise is planned for 2022.
  8. Mrs. Lew had her second shot (Pfizer) 2 weeks ago and sore arm only. I had my second (Pfizer) on Wed 4.14 and no adverse affects. Not even the sore arm issue. We have been very healthy during this situation and my thoughts are leaning towards increased vitamin C and D intake. Also, I got my first ever regular flu shot in the fall.
  9. A neighbor of mine had one of these years ago and the cord was a pain. Yard had to be a perfect rectangle to go back and forth and moving the cord.
  10. I am considering replacing my 12 year old gas mower with an electric mower. I mow approximately 0.33 acre on slightly sloped lawn (WV). Tall fescue grass. What , if any, experiences have any one had with an electric mower. Thanks
  11. I downloaded this the other day and have thoroughly what I have read so far. 8 chapters. Plus I showed my 8 year old grandson how a Kindle works and he is interested.
  12. This will be a very short film.
  13. Where have you been my long lost son? Mrs. Lew is the same
  14. I got first shot on Wednesday...No effects. not even sore arm. I am lucky. Better half got her second Pfizer shot on Thursday and no effects other than sore arm. Daughter got her first Pfizer on Thursday and no effects reported
  15. Old Yeller Brian's Song
  16. I am scheduled for my first shot on Wed at a Mom & Pop pharmacy that has been a leader in shot distribution in my neck of the woods. My much better half gets her 2nd shot on Thursday at drive through event at the National Guard Armory.
  17. My earliest memory was in the 62 or 63 season. My dad and coworkers shared season tickets and I was able to go to a few games. One memory is that after a field goal or a extra point was kicked, the ball would go into the stands and security would chase down the ball. One kid who caught the ball was really fast. Somebody in the stands yelled, "Sign him up now we need a half back" Then the idea of nets to catch the ball was developed. We used to go to Chin's Chinese restaurant in downtown before the game and even though I was 8, I really liked Chinese food. In 65 their group tickets were 2nd row behind the visitors bench. Horrible idea as players would stand on the benches blocking the view of those in the front rows.
  18. I was at that game. Lots of snowball battles in the stands.
  19. Seneca Hickory Stick is a fine course. Each time I have played there, the greens have been in top condition.
  20. and THE best tailgating in the NFL.
  21. When I referee a Middle school soccer match, I'll ask a player what grade they are in. No matter what year, I reply that I loved grade X and was there 3 years. Quizzical looks and some laughter occur as the player realizes I am kidding with them. Your joke about 7 years in HS was great
  22. Back in the day, growing up we did not have midget , peewee or Tyro football. We just played in the yard, full tackle and no equipment. In 9th grade the school started its first freshman team and I played on that. It was the first time any of us used equipment. Those shoulder pads were huge. Played 2 more years then blew out my knee on the FIRST day of practice senior year. I am not a fan of the little kids playing full tackle games until they are 12-13 years old.
  23. Great pics. Thanks for the memories.
  24. I was fortunate to see Return to Forever in college in 1975. Little did I know how good they were. I was just a young whippersnapper then and did not know better RIP to one of the giants in the musical world.
