I thought this was well thought out and fairly reasonable. But even as someone who loves Mahomes, 19-0??? ? stick to reasonable predictions like Josh Allen being the NFL Mvp. I would guess most fan bases see the Bills as average to below average. Just need to prove them wrong but how do we view the Lions? Kinda the same thing.

I don’t listen that much to GR but my take on the Allen pick is the far overwhelming evidence is guys like him struggle to become consistent NFL qbs. And the Bills aren’t exactly a model franchise in developing qbs. He has all the tools and has a great attitude. But as much as some people want to take a victory lap, a 52% and 67 qb rating doesn’t mean he’s made it. And while I have doubts, nothing would make me happier (and I assume Schoop because it’s not fun talking about an irrelevant team) that Allen proves to be the guy.

Starting this thread is going to show him!!! i used to hate him but it sometimes makes interesting points. I just can’t believe how sensitive some fans are. The preseason doesn’t mean anything and we see it every year. And whether you agree with him, he does at least have some reasoning behind his thoughts.

It’s not high school football. You need to win ultimately. Dick Jauron had a nice atmosphere here. 7-9, I guess he’s fine. 6-10 or worse, barring a major injury, should really give some thought to changing the coach.

Because Fox Sports is so much better!!! Step 1 on anything negative about the Bills, attack the credibility of the source. Step 2 completely misread what is being said. I don’t think there is anyway the Bills are going 4-12. But if they do, why in the world would you keep McDermott? People treat the guy like he’s the next Belichick here. What innovative thighs has he shown that he can’t be replaced? we aren’t going 4-12 so this is all moot. McDermott is a nice guy but I haven’t really seen anything elite about his coaching style. There are like 5 head coaches who matter in the NFL.

I just wanted to put out I’ve never seen a wide reaction to a post in the history of this board. It’s kinda amazing to see. i still have worries about being young Jauron. He also has been downright awful on challenges and we get destroyed in far too many games. This is a huge year to show if he is a good head coach or just a good DC.

It was Gale Gilbert. the bills were so good, they were off limits when we played. I miss that. ?. My go to were the Houston Oilers. I love the run and shoot.

I will say looking st the list of backups, it shows how awful the qb depth is. But it’s like if Barkley is 5, he shouldn’t be a 7 or 8 because he is surrounded by 4 and 5s (though if you’re drunk ?).

Developing two top 10 pick qbs at NDSU and Wyoming is amazing and shows the myth that Allen received bad coaching. And if Allen has a sophomore slump, he might be out of the nfl.

John, I think it’s kinda silly to ignore a whole worth of evidence for one game against the Jets (who fired everyone) and a couple of preseason games, where most qbs can look good. I’m fine with him as a backup and I’m sure he is great in the locker room. Woods was a baller. I think he is much better than Zay. He was tough and never dropped anything. Zay seems like the opposite of this. But I’m fine with him getting another year. but imagine if we didn’t trade up for Zay and just took JuJu or Kupp? ?

Foot injuries are awful for receivers. He played well at the end of last year but he makes me nervous. Hopefully, it’s not serious.

At the same point, someone needed to catch the ball. There are guys who get numbers but it doesn’t mean they’re good. But he’s a sunk cost so I’m fine with keeping him at this point and hoping he gets it. But McBeane are bad at scouting the receiver position.

We did with Sammy and worried why Tyrod regressed. We should have traded MCCoy 2 years ago. But now, both guys are more valuable to the Bills than anything they would get back. Keep’em.

MAybe it’s my bias to watching him play at UB, but I want the Bills to keep him. What did people expect? He was super raw coming out. But In terms of developmental qbs, he’s exactly what you want. And he fits really well with Allen.

I hated the idea of us drafting him high because some people just fell in love with his combine numbers. I do think he is in a good place in Seattle where he will occasionally make some huge plays for them. But I don’t think he can ever be a 1. The guy i wish we took is Hakeem Butler. He would look great in this roster with the other guys we have and I believe has number 1 ability or a great compliment #2.

Fair points but it was pretty obviously he was a disaster in Pittsburgh. Ryan Clark has been talking about how awful of a teammate he was for years.

I agree with you a million percent (though maybe as some suggested he’s just trying to get out of camp. Training camp sucks for vets). I never wanted him and that’s why it is crazy these guys who preach culture tried to get him in the first place. I still think they need a true 1 and are doing Allen a disservice. But I guess we have to see this season play out. ✌️

And this is why the preseason is completely meaningless. Still any football is awesome. Ryan Fitzpatrick is Joe Montana compared to Matt Barkley. And I liked Barkley the best in his draft. When he had to play for the Bears, he was on pace to throw 28 ints in a season! I get the excitement but Allen hasn’t proven anything and Barkley has proven he is a borderline nfl qb. You could do worse but top flight backup QBs aren’t sitting on their couch 7 weeks into the season.

Beef on weck with 5 wings i really don’t pay attention to the oline unless it’s truly that bad. They looked solid as a whole. Was he really that bad? He definitely is beefy.

It’s preseason. He is the most interesting story in the nfl. The sad sad part is that crazy man will still end up with good numbers.

It’s like that crazy hot girl you would give anything to date. You try everything to date here and she just laughs at you and says no. Then she ends up dating your friend and you are super depressed and getting laughed at by everyone. Then she burns down your friends house and keys his car.
