My quick take. At the beginning of the 2018 season i was wishing the Bills had Tyree instead Josh Allen. By the end of the season I'm very glad the Bills have Josh Allen as their starting QB. Tyree will be a project and I no longer see him as having the same skills as Allen.

UB’s Tyree Jackson has declared for the NFL draft
zow2 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in College Football
Wow. Figured he’d try to elevate his status with one more year of college. But that could also backfire based on how his game was trending. Good luck to Tyree. -
Buffalo's reputation amongst free agents
zow2 replied to clayboy54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a recent video piece on the Bills facilities, with particular attention on the cafeteria/dining/menu options and nutritional expert. The guys they interviewed...some draft picks and free agents said they were blown away and the Bills have the best setup and food in the league. So if someone bases their opinions of team facilities on a visitors lockerroom that’s absurd. -
Agree. Lamar Jackson gets credit for sparking his team and being an awesome running QB. Allen gets a bit of a red flag for running too much. His running stats as well as Allen's should be looked at as their entire productivity as QB's. Moving the chains with a run evens out any poor passes and drops in my opinion.,,,but it's not really viewed that way. Now, there's no doubt Allen must get his completion % higher as he moves forward if he ever wants to lead Buffalo to a SB victory. The running will level off, it always does. But for the 2018 season, When i look at the first downs he gained and the chunk run plays... he was very good, especially in those final 6 games. In my view of his play, Allen finished with 18 TDs, 12 INTs. Lamar finished with 11 and 3. That's pretty darn good.

Better pieces around Allen will be nice, but it's also about Nagy and the type of plays being called. Trubisky went from a 59% passer to over 66%. That's huge.
-
The Bills need to study what the Bears did for Trubisky in his 2nd season. I think they are similar style QBs. But Trubisky does have some very good players around him and a big play defense to support the O.

Saw this coming a few years ago. The problem is you just had huge amounts of Bama and Clemson fans travel to the Orange and Cotton Bowls. So now you're asking the fanbases to travel way out to San Jose on short notice. Fans that have already probably spent thousands over the past few years following these teams advance to Bowls and the NCG. Not gonna happen and as others have said, the local population and alums of these school can't fill up a whole stadium. Obviously this probably would be fine if the game were in Atlanta or Charlotte since people could drive in the day of the game...but out west no way. If the playoffs expand they will have to host games on the campus of the higher seed or keep the games regional until the title game.

Tired of both programs to be honest, but I respect the fact that they can remain on top year after year. CFB is a sport that's not all that easy to maintain this dominance....so many players, graduations, transfers, etc.. I think the main reason both teams are dominant is in the trenches. They both have NFL dudes all over...and the D-lines especially. I'm kinda rooting for Clemson but i see Bama winning this years version, 31-27.

He doesn't seem overwhelmed out there in the least bit so I think it can improve as he gets more comfortable. But yeah, if he cannot get his completion % up, he will have to make up for it by continuing to move the chains with his legs. That's OK for now, but as you said,,,, down the road the legs will get a few miles on them and defenders coming out of college will only get faster.

All Rookies QB's final stats and prorated to 16 games
zow2 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting.. i favored Rosen as the pick going into the draft but glad we got JA. As the season played out it was clear that a big athletic QB is great,,,,he can get those 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1's, dive over the goaline etc... and make plays to escape pressure. You don't see Rosen being able to do that. He will have to be a pocket passer and get much better. Mayfield has been awesome...his ball placement is mostly right on point. Darnold is good and will get better. Jackson has a solid team around him but he's been a huge spark and playing better than i thought he would. This seems like a really good 1st round QB class. Maybe the best one in years. -
I said it about Vick & Tyrod to an extent.. and you can say it about Allen and Lamar Jackson as well. I feel like QBs that run so effectively,... their yardage should almost be attributed to their passing numbers. In other words, If Allen throws for 197 yards and runs for 100, that's really equivalent to about 300 yards.. So is that much different than Luck throwing for 300yds but running for zero? I'm not saying Allen is Luck, but the passing numbers for JA will look minuscule in comparison but he's really moving the football effectively. Casual fans reading just stats won't see that. Now on the flip side, we all know QBs that run that much eventually need to settle down. Maybe they get 3-4 years of running wild and then they will have to become better from the pocket... and they should with experience.

At this point is Kiko even much different than Vontaze Burfict ? I mean c'mon, even when Kiko doesn't land a direct hit he seems to give that little extra side business that the fans rarely see.

So will Eagles fans be donating in large sums to the “Khalil Mack foundation”or whatever cause?!? The Bears hooked the Eagles today. They played hard.

Our coach...say what you want but he's a class act.
zow2 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bill Cowher agrees. He said on the postgame show that McD is a very good coach and perfect for this city, as well as Allen. -

Funny, when Allen runs wild we hear that he runs too much...be a QB! When Lamar Jackson is running like a maniac the masses love it. He’s doing what he needs to do to move the chains and win games. -

People that are fine with the pick six for draft position are morons. You want to see our franchise QB throw some nice passes and win the damn game. That was awful. And when we had the momentum on O the coaches got super conservative This game is a repeat of the Jets game. Early momentum, get conservative, defense wilts, Haush goes short on an easy FG. There ya go. -
Phew. I’m thanking Saban for Bama taking the knee at the end. Safely covered OK +14 because of that. The crowd who bet the over must’ve been so angry.
-
I have ND in a Bowl teaser and they can’t cover +19.5 points?!? Ugh. What an egg they are laying.
-
So long KJ. We will definitely miss this you and this years offense. Anyone else leaving? The waterboy?

I look forward to watching a new QB get developed at UB and it will be fun to watch Tyree at a P5 team like Auburn or wherever. Let's see what he can do. These programs dying to get him should be a bit cautious. He had some real talent around him at UB and could not raise em up, losing 3 of his last 4 games against better competition. Can't wait to watch that Iron Bowl... Tua vs. Tyree. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the last 10 games of the season (8 MAC games, Army & Troy) Tyree Jackson completed 52.3% of his passes, threw 13 TDs 9 INTs, and threw for under 200 yards in 5 out of 10 games.

Buffalo News: PFF Breaks Down Josh Allen's Accuracy "Issue"
zow2 replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My main issue with Allen as he learns the ropes is that he goes for the home run throw too often. Just make the easy pass when it's there, move the chains. You see it every week with Luck, Brees, Rodgers, etc.. they take what's there...not always forcing a low% downfield throw. -
Well, if true that's just a dumb take by daddy-O. As the season went on the Bulls O-line and running game were the best units on the field, not the QB. The coaches allowed Jackson to continue throwing with leads and all it did was lead to quick 3-and-outs with poor throws and decision making (INT's, fumbles). The D crumbled late season as well. Not sure why the DB's were so badly exposed. Anyway that same coach holding his kid back is also the reason the Bulls have been rebuilt into one of the better MAC programs. Credit to Leipold because this team would be bottom of the MAC without his leadership and staff. He's also the same coach who recruited two awesome freshman RB's and more athletic players across the board.
-
Whose to say some transfer QB or graduate transfer won’t be enticed by UB if Tyree leaves? i think the QB position would be wide open and no one knows how Leipold thinks. Guys who have hung around P5 programs and barely played now have options. It’s unlikely but Ya just never know what will happen if Tyree leaves.
