Barnwell: Progress Report on 2018 1st Round QBs
zow2 replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn't read the entire article. Just hope Allen continues to get better. One thing i mentioned yesterday in a thread is I expect Kiko Alonso to cheap shot Allen or go head hunting when Miami comes north on Dec. 30th. The fact that he highlighted Kiko getting embarrassed in his article, re-emphasizes that. -
Any Buyer's Remorse From Teams That Drafted QB in Round 1?
zow2 replied to Flip Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kinda' cool that it seems like all 5 QB's selected were taken in the perfect order per their level of play thus far. Baker Mayfield looks like the best of the bunch. My only question is how much better will he get? Seems like he's playing really good ball and maybe this is near his ceiling. I'm not sure why I feel that way, it's just a hunch. Jets fans love Darnold and they could not be more pleased that they selected Sam over Josh Allen. I do think Darnold gets better and could surpass Mayfield at some point when the Jets have a plan. I thought Josh Allen was project for two years from now but he's looked pretty good. His running is just fantastic and his arm is as advertised. His accuracy while not polished is better than i thought it would be. Some throws he zips right in there but all too often are dropped. I do think Josh get A LOT better and this is probably the worst QB'ing we will see from him.(I hope!). You could definitely make an argument for flipping Lamar Jackson for Rosen in the #4 spot. Jackson has the much better team and his running ability makes up for any passing deficiencies. When Rosen sticks his foot in the ground and makes a quick, decisive throw, he looks good. I think he will show big improvement going forward but I do think he looks small out there in a way... and has a tough time overcoming a bad line. -
Yeah, as discussed in the Allen thread he's going to get the Cam Newton treatment. Look, Josh is making guys look like fools out there w his running. He's probably talking some trash. The defenders want to kick his a$$. Watch Kiko Alonso when we play Miami again. I guarantee he will find a way to give Allen a cheap shot, a head shot at some point.

I think Minnesota fans went to his house with torches and pitch-forks after last nights game. They hated DeFilippo and were yelling for him to be fired. I really don't think he can make guys run better, block better, pass better, etc... But maybe his schemes sucked. Who knows?!

That's my main problem with this. It's weird airing something like this over social media. If someone has a problem with a company's product or a service then sure, go on social media and @ them. But for personal stuff?!? C'mon.

I'm over it. It's a man's game and people get hit hard. It was completely unnecessary, but it happened and luckily Haush doesn't appear to be seriously injured. If the guy hit me like that I'd probably have a cracked vertebrae. I'm more pissed about the little extra business they seemed to give Allen while he was still in the pocket,,,

Minnesota got hosed on the Bobby Wagner blocked FG. Shoulda been a 15 yd penalty for clearly using leverage. Another game changing play by the refs.

Jets "playing to the whistle" cost Bills the game
zow2 replied to hmsmystic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. And just like with Cam,....if the opposing defense roughs up Josh Allen 5 times and gets flagged 2 times for it, that’s a win for the defense. Allen still feels the pain for those unflagged cheap shots. -
2nd night in a row of high flying NFC prime time action. NOT
-
Maybe he's doing some unauthorized party-stuff and not sanctioned by the team? Who knows. Kinda gets weird when people air their bad/hurt feelings on social media. I imagine the Bills organization doesn't go out of their way to piss on former players that gave their heart to the team. So something must've gone bad.

Jets "playing to the whistle" cost Bills the game

The Jets were way physical. No doubt they were the team that was embarrassed last time and wanted to avenge it. I guess Dion Dawkins was the only cheap-shot artist on the field according to NY. I was pissed that Edmunds played two hand touch instead of smacking Darnold after his TD pass on the crazy scramble. At no point did the Bills match the Jets physicality. Trash talking doesn't count. -
I can't break down Josh Allen's metrics, but from the eye test, for me... He looks like a better QB than I thought he would. Quite honestly, from all the pre-draft analysis I thought this guy was gonna suck! He's proving that to be wrong. Allen looks like a competent NFL QB to me and that's very promising considering this is his rookie season. No doubt he's had some flub passes, but he's also had several darts right into the hands or chest of his receivers and they get dropped, or called back due to a penalty. His numbers look worse compared to what I've actually seen on the field. His rushing game might not get factored in to his overall rating but it is part of his game and he's picked up a bunch of first downs with his legs.

Jordan Jenkins threatened to kill Dion Dawkins
zow2 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh Thank you for bringing that up. I thought the exact same thing at the time. The Jets are playing physical all day and killing Allen every chance they get. They even crush our kicker. Bills don't lay an extra hit on Darnold all day long. When Edmunds is steamrolling towards Darnold he completely lays off and doesn't finish the play. I guess he is Mr. nice guy? All i can think is that it was 3rd and goal and Edmunds didn't want to get flagged for a late hit. Understandable but jeez, he was close enough to initiate some contact, just not high or driving him into the ground. -
Has a WR made a great catch this season????
zow2 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the point is this...and was made on the radio this morning as well. The receivers are dropping plenty of balls that should be caught. They are almost never making a catch on a poor throw. They rarely if ever bail out Josh Allen with some great catches. -
A successful run game would do wonders for Allen
zow2 replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of things would do wonders for Allen and the offense,,,including a better rushing attack. But overall, Josh is fine. He will be solid. I was critical of him being the QB we drafted but he looks good for the most part. If you watched Trubisky and Goff last night they were both crap. It happens to all QBs. They aren't going to have 16 good games and all the QBs need some help from a decent Oline or rushing attack. -
Thats a solid take. I pretty much agree w you. I don’t blame him for just letting his natural instincts take over in his rookie season. He’s trying anything to win. Next year hopefully the game slows down and he can read and react to coverage faster. He’s in hero-mode right now and he’s taking a beating for it. If he gets hit on the brain 5 times in a game and the refs call it twice, that’s a win for the defense.
-
It's been noticeable since preseason and it happens every week. He either takes a wicked head shot in the pocket while getting sacked or just running around back there. Or, he will get his head slammed against the turf after he releases the ball or maybe on an unnecessary roughness play. This type of playing is just not sustainable. His brains will be scrambled by year 2. Not that Darnold is anything to behold but he goes through his progressions quickly and gets the ball out fast. He's not making himself a target. I can't really assess Allen's game going forward until I can tell what kind of passer he will be? He's definitely showing signs of being a decent passer,,,and if the receivers wouldn't drop some easy receptions he would have better numbers. It's his rookie year and hes trying to make plays, I get it. But Josh Allen will have to clean this up in 2019 and start throwing the football more and protecting his head and body.

Pregame thread: Wk 14 Jets at Bills
zow2 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We give up like 175 yds last week and 248 yds this week and lose both games. That’s brutal man -
What are you talking about? I never said it was a moral victory. Jets dominated 2nd half and earned it. If playoffs were on the line I’d be pissed but they weren’t
-
McD is a fine coach. Stop with the knee jerk reactions over a meaningless tough loss. The Jets played hard. They earned it

Disappointed by the loss but it was a close game and neither team going anywhere this season. Jets played hard obviously wanted to avenge that earlier embarrassment. Darnold played better in crunch time. Allen was ok but some killer drops and inaccuracies too -

If reversed, Josh Allen gets lit up at the end of that, Bills didn’t put a hand on Darnold -

Allen’s completion % takes a hit but how many good passes are dropped or called back due to penalty? He had to lead the league in that -
