Status of AFC: Should Bills Go All In For 2019?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you could get him for a 3rd, would it be worth it, worst case he's a rental for the year, let him go then, wouldn't the Bills get a 3rd back for him as a comp pick? Unless they signed another 1st rounder FA, then it offsets?? -
You could actually play everyone in your conference one time for 15 game total, plus one team from other conference or like college has it, 16th game is against your "rival" If they went to an 18 game schedule wouldn't be too bad then as 15 games in conference, plus 3 games assistant opposite conference. Within 5 years you'd play all the teams in opposite conference. Or maybe better yet, if it ain't broke don't fix it! Obviously many here including myself are counting our chickens before they are even close to hatched, this year may hurt us, but can see in another years could help you too.
-
But the counter argument to that is you don't play equal schedules. The Bills have an advantage playing the NFC east this year while the AFC west plays the NFC north where all 4 teams are very good. Likely no one in the NFC north will have a great record either as unlikely anyone sweeps the division there too. Even the AFC north plays the NFC west which has three solid teams. Yes is sucks but also the reason why the road team often does win the wild card game as they often are the better team.

Injury updates - Morse, Milano, Murphy, Ford
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe that's why he was called for holding, needed the other guy to keep him from falling over! ? Is amazing how often these guys are left for dead and two plays later back in the game. Maybe they watch too much soccer! -
Since you brought them up, are they still negative or are the wins forcing them to say nicer things about the team? Usually there's a thread here about them being terrible, but didn't read anything.

[Vague Title] You know what's great?

The only games I'm certain they will be the underdog in is at NE and Dallas (assuming this isn't the beginning of a Dallas death spiral) Philly and Baltimore at home will be close on points, maybe Buffalo +1 assuming both teams continue on their existing path. At Cleveland and Pitt likely a slight dog, though if Bills are like 9-3 and Pitt 3-7, could see the Bills favored then too. -
What are we missing offensively?

Agree completely! Think overall the issue is still not quite enough talent, one more draft/FA haul is needed. By year end maybe Ford will be the answer at RT, but overall think they'd be better moving him to guard and getting a legit RT. Maybe then they don't re-sign Spain? WR is likely 2 to 3 times better than last year, but still not quite there. If Williams does continue to improve that may help alot. Maybe Williams will become last years Foster. Speaking of, am starting to wonder if one of these days I'll be seeing a post here "Foster to IR", think if Williams continues to improve may happen, particularly if other position suffers short term 2 to 4 week injury injuries and they need to make some moves to free up roster slot. -
Agree, coaches never get fired after a win. I am glad he was fired now, per your scenario, they beat the Fish, then lose the next week and he's fired. Next game up Buffalo. Hate to play a team the first or even 2nd week after they fire coach or even change starting QB's as teams often then play their most inspired game then. Redskins have three weeks to get the joy out of their system. I didn't see anything mentioned who was named the interim coach?

Jets fans do not live in reality.

Any chance Gase gets the boot at season end? -
Read that after what Brown said about Kraft, Kraft stated he'll never pay him. For the sake of argument, assume Brown wins the appeal, what would happen if NE didn't pay him? Can the league force them to pay him or garnish the money from the teams revenue sharing check or would Brown have to go to court and sue for the money? May be something brown would be afraid to do as too much of his life may be exposed to the point he'd be suspended again.

Did you read what I wrote?? Seems the thought process by the coaching staff is offensively, the team is still weak, young QB who's still learning, somewhat shaky play on the O-line, top that off with injuries, and WR corp that's 2 to 3 X better than last year, but still probably overall rated in the bottom half of all teams. Is it going to bite them some point, yes but they aren't going to be risky as there's just not enough talent there yet overall. Maybe towards the end of the seaosn, they will feel different.
-
Think the Int's will get better with time, though he'll always be somewhat of a gunslinger which isn't the worst problem to have so likely he'll always have more Int's than others. His completion percentage is much better than expected so far and he can make throws very few others can make. He's also seems to be well liked by his team mates too and seems to be good as a leader .

What a great way to head into the bye ?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BillsBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
12-4 could give them the 3rd best record in the conference, but unfortunately they'd be rewarded with the 5th seed and a road playoff game agasint a team with a worse record. But that does happen many years and those are the ones the road team often does win. I'm not so sure of a split in them either maybe 2-4, but still would give them an 11-5 which probably would still give them the #5 seed. Will depend how much they actually improve as the seaosn goes on. If the offense starts playing better and scoring more points, then maybe. -
Yeah an one Int away from Tenn being the one kicking the FG too. Yes the good Josh was playing but the Int in Q-3 looked more like the old Josh. And now you're asking him to press. I just think they are going to try and do everything they can to make sure Josh and the offense in general doesn't lose the game for them.

Think if Aaron Rogers were behind center things would be different! Seems the thought process by the coaching staff is offensively, the team is still weak, young QB who's still learning, somewhat shaky play on the O-line, top that off with injuries, and WR corp that's 2 to 3 X better than last year, but still probably overall rated in the bottom half of all teams. So the thinking is lets not go and lose games, play conservative and that extends through the 3rd Q of games too. Then they realize OK we need to start playing again. So far for the most part it's worked, it's nerve wracking, but consider the overall tlanet and experience on the offensive side of the ball, may not be a bad idea, though d owish they'd be a little more aggressive in Q-3

Didn't quite catch the starting lineup on TV, not that it means much, but did they show 2 TE and only 2 WR, not Zay? -
Duke signed to active roster
