The problem with AB is still no word on what will happen once he signs and not sure the league can announce a suspension for an unsigned player. Maybe teams will know what is the plan, but to me signing someone like him would only be worth it if he's more of a luxury pick that you don't need till around Nov in case of injury or for depth. Allen too is young enough t hat he needs as much time as possible with his WR's and having a guy suspended for maybe 1/2 a seaso nwon't help much. Agree that Dalton will want to start and want starting money. But if he finds that market doesn't exist for him, then who knows. And even if no starting spots available, then would next look to a Tenn like situation where the starter is on rather shaky ground like Tannerhill did last year. This year, those spots could be Bears, Rams, Lions,, Tampa, and maybe Pittsburgh if turns out a year away at Big Bens age is too much and he's lost it.

Tend to agree. Think what will be somewhat telling is what they do about Spain, if they let him walk, then likely Ford is popping inside at one of the spots and Felicinao at the other and may switch left to right there. Ford had his moments as a rookie, both good and bad. The last six weeks he went up against some pretty stiff competition and held his own. They may feel they've seen he has the ability to improve enough to be the answer or maybe not. If Spain is re-signed it allows them to somewhat hedge their bets. They could then leave Ford at RT, basically the same starting five as last season, but if he doesn't improve enough next year, you could still platoon him with Ty and then in 2021, don't resign Feliciano and then move Ford inside, but you gave hi ma two year try out. I think we'll see an improved team in 2020 talent wise, but still may be one year away from really being able to win the Super Bowl, so one more year with Ford as RT doesn't hurt the team that much

Jags 2 steps closer to London move
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Zerovoltz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that would work as can easily get flights out of Dulles to London, probably 1 to 1.5 hours less flying time too. Though could see it being an easier sell for fans from London to book a trip once a year to Miami than DC Would the NFL really care as the money is just as good from opposition fans. The Chargers may care, but could see the other 31 teams saying this is great. Get the same amount of money and one less game a year in hostile environment. -
What Are We Going To Do for Backup QB Next Year?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, you never know when someone will find the next Brady, though do wonder if it's really finding the next Brady or is it having a guy like Belchick coaching him. I wonder what would have happened in NE if Bledsoe hadn't got hurt, pretty much season ending. The tone of the OP's thread was more that we need to improve on Barkley, doubt he' or many others here would be very happy with the next Mullins type. Sounds like he's hoping for someone like an Andy Dalton signing and my take is that will only happen if one of these guys gets desperate and doesn't find any opportunities to start someplace else. There's also something to be said for the fact that Barkley has been in the offense for close to 2 years now and understands it. If you were to bring in someone with a fair amount of experience again I'll pick on Dalton, not too worried about him learning it, but if your choice is between Barkley and someone with limited experience and no past connection to the offense, personally I'd prefer sticking with Barkley. -
NFL moving Combine workouts to prime time

Good for the players and coaches, allows them to sleep in after hitting the strip clubs the prior night. -
On a somewhat similar thing, for those who recall when Marv had prostate cancer a few writers came to him before it was announced and asked as they were hearing rumors about it. He asked them to sit on the story until after the coming weeks game. He then announced it the following week and was gone for about three to four weeks and Elijah Pitts took over as temp coach. But no one in the media who did know about it spoke a word until he gave the all clear. On the Polian story, I thought RW fired him in November not the beginning of the season. And really didn't fire him, but just told him the team was letting him go at the end of the year. I do think there are more of these situations that still do occur than we ever realize, but go unreported.

I think your logic is a bit of a stretch. IMO the reason they went with the receivers they did and not play say a Duke more, or draft a WR last year is they knew Josh is still learning and didn't want to burden him with someone else who is lacking experience too and may add to confusion for Josh. I think that may also be the reaso nthey stuck wih Foster as long as they did as he and Allen had some chemistry for the year prior.

What Are We Going To Do for Backup QB Next Year?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would you prefer Nick Mullens or Matt Moore? They are the backups for the Chiefs and 49er's. Do you think either of those teams would have made the SB playing their backup? How many teams wouldn't be in big trouble if they needed to rely on their backup for more than a week or two? Matt Moore certainly has more experience than Barkley, but not sure how much was good. On top of that Barkley played one game with mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers and a very stripped down game plan. If they get someone else, great, but not anything near the top of their priority list. Buffalo isn't a desired place to come as you know barring injury Allen is the starter all year so if you want to have the opportunity to start, it's not here. Where as this past year, Fitz and Tannerhill went to places that had starters who were on somewhat shaky ground so they knew they may get a chance to take over and they did. Can see a guy like a Dalton, Winston, Cam, Flacco, etc if any are cut looking for places like the Tenn and Miami 's of this year. -
Jaguars Give Up 2 home games next year

I spoke with all three, they are not happy. On the other hand, if the fan base was really buying tickets like crazy, would they have ever moved any games to begin with? -
Free Agency - March 18 - Who do you want?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL Your math works out fine as long as all "play makers" you want to sign will agree to one year contracts. If not you're saving $16 mil this year and instead paying better players this season. But what about what you pay them in future years and at the same time, need to play White, Milano, Allen, Edwards Dawkins just to name a few that are all on rookie contracts. Maybe in Madden your concept works. -
Greg Olsen visiting Bills, Redskins, Seahawks
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Article in the Athletic the other day about the Bills TE's. Talked about bringing in Olson, but thought it only makes sense as long as it doesn't in any way slow down Knox's development. He acknowledged the drops but also talked about how few TE's in the league have the over all skill set Knox provides, also stated Knox is ranked 3rd in the league in yards after the catch for TE's. Also stated highly unlikely the Bills would go after any TE for more than a one year deal so that leaves out the Hooper's of the world. -
Yeah I looked for him too. Not sure everyone was there though either. Yes he was there, didn't see him the first look at the QB's 2nd time did see him. He kind of looked the smallest of them all.

When you mention "Billionaire greed," are you referring to the owners only or the owners plus the players? The players have to agree to it, so it's also greed on their part as they are getting something in return, more money among other things they want. So if both sides are happy, why shouldn't the fans get the enjoyment of an extra week of meaningful games. Richard Sherman can talk all he wants but ultimately it's something the majority of the players want, more money, to get that they are giving something in return. Do wish the article stated what the "10 things" are the players are getting in return, or at least what they are rumored to be.

Jordan Reed (worth a shot?)
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Today's edition of the Athletic had a review of the TE's on the roster. One of the things stressed more than one time in his write up (which I agree with )was don't make nay moves that would reduce the snaps Knox is one the field for. While he acknowledged the drops being an issue that needs to improve, the article stated that he has the skill set very few TE's in the league have and he needs to plays as much as possible to further develop. Think it said he is in the top three in yards after the catch of all TE's league wide. So don't make moves that would reduce his snap count which makes alot of sense. -
