I do find if very interesting as anytime a person is not a fan of the local team and is a fan of a team from another area, the local team fans are the worst in their mind. I know people in Western NY who are fans of other teams, Browns Vikings, and Miami come to mind and everything you just stated about the Steeler fans they think the same of Bills fans. Can still recall the one person calling the Bills fair weather fans as there were games in the 90's era that weren't even sold out. Face it neither the Houston or Jax playoff games sold out. They tell you how obnoxious Bills fans treat them if they go to a game in Buffalo and root for the other team and wear their colors. So it's all relative IMO Yeah but even with extra byes, still have to be able to work the dates out between the two affected teams. Granted it does improve the probability of making it work out.

So what exactly was the proper contingency plan? Better yet what is the exact virus playbook, because without knowing extraly what the virus will do next, how can you have better plans? I agree with you they didn't have a plan for: If seven days after the first positive test, a team then has two days of no positive tests, but then on (what would it be) day 9 and 10 they have two more days of positive tests, then three days of no positive tests, then another positive test the next day. You're correct, they didn't have a plan in place to deal with that situation. But what if on day 9, instead of two days off no positive, it was three days before the next positive, was a new plan needed for that outcome? The plan was simple you needed to have two days of no positive tests, then team can get back to normal. Why such a simple plan because it's the only plan they know will work as they don't know what the virus will do next. Is the reason Tenn keeps having positive tests because they broke the rules and secretly met or did they all come from the first outbreak? Who knows?? Could they have added in a bye week every four weeks, sure in hind sight it's easy to say, but what if they weren't needed? How many people would be screaming at no football this weekend. If they had done that, this weekend would have been a bye, so what games would have been played? ZERO! as the teams that right now that have had issues are still all in the issue state. So Tenn could play Steelers along with the NE Denver game week 9 and the Bills week 13. I'm sure the networks would have loved that deal, what do they do with all the extra time slots now with no games? Actually wouldn't surprise me if a big reason they didn't add extra league wide byes was because of major push back from the networks if not needed. Likely the compromise they made with the networks is if needed, they will add an extra week towards season end. A fall back too is to cancel games between teams not going to make the playoffs, then shift things around so maybe there is a week where Jax is playing Houston, that game gets canceled and games moved so we now play Tenn that week. Jax Houston can be played the first weekend of the playoffs so all the players still get paid. By week 14 or so will know of some teams that aren't in the playoffs.

Do we make a trade or wing it?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Cubanmist's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If there's a trade made it might be for a LB or possibly CB, but likely with a team that has a fairly high level backup, someone who can and has started in the past, who can do the same here and step in to replace either Milano or Edwards if needed. Likely not a starter unless it's with a team who's starter becomes a FA at seasons end. We don't need a 3rd starting LB as we don't use three LB's very often, maybe just a better quality backup. CB, lets see how Norman plays these next two games, if he continues like last week, Wallace becomes a strong backup or nickel and the remaining ones drop down a slot on the pecking order so need goes away there. -
Around the NFL. Sunday Gameday

Off Topic, but..... Just watched the give out the Larry O'Brien trophy to the Lakers. Not nearly as impressive as watching two guys carry out the Stanley Cup wearing a black tux with white gloves. Here's it was two guys in khakis with a key chain on his belt. -
And the issue with players not getting paid if the games not played. Yes the time off may help them recover from some injuries, but not the same as true team practices. A few sessions in shorts isn't the same particularly since players were without a pre-season and mini camp. If I were the Bills I'd run the hurry-up as much as they can and test their conditioning.

My guess at AFC rankings after Tues.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd tend to agree with you on the rankings! NFL rankings are kind of like college football rankings. The only way you move up is if someone above you loses, but even then you don't jump that far. KC lost but one loss isn't enough to drop a team from one all the way to four. The fact that Baltimore was ahead of Buffalo before this weekend started and they won, likely they will stay ahead. Two of the Bills wins weren't against very impressive teams either although Miami win is looking better these days. If the Bills beat Tenn and KC, they will then jump Baltimore regardless of what they do and move up to at least #2 , maybe even #1 as that would be more impressive. -
Actually don't believe that has anything to do with it. First off the NE- Denver game was originally a 1:00 game so wouldn't have been Nance and Romo anyway. But the main reason there was a mini feature about this in the CBS Pregame show at noon. Today was the first time since 1994 that CBS broadcast a Dallas Giants game! Before 1994 every year the NFC games were on CBS so every year they had two Giant Dallas games and they were often two of the most watched games on CBS. During the pregame they actually played a clip from the last game they televised between them, Madden and Summerall were broadcasting. Dallas won on a field goal in OT which gave them the division. Think that may have been the last time the Bills went to the SB against Dallas or maybe the year after. For those old enough to remember from back in the 60's until 1994 CBS broadcast the NFL and then the NFC games, NBC had all the AFL and then AFC games. Fox then outbid CBS and got the NFC games after 1994 and the AFC games were still on NBC. Actually just read a story the other day about Fox's first broadcast and how/why they won the bid, was kind of a cool story. At that point many cities did not yet have a local Fox affiliate so Fox deliberately over bid to assure they'd win the contract as it forced many local affiliates to switch over to become a Fox station. That was why they over bid as knew they'd make up the money once these stations all switched over. There was s video with the story showing the very first pregame show, Bradshaw road in on a horse onto the set. Maybe two years later NBC contract was up, CBS then way over bid and got the AFC games, and NBC was now out of the football business. A few years later Sunday Night football was born and NBC was back in the game.

Wow just saw the listing of all the schedule changes. Whoever figured all these out to make it work deserves a big bonus! -

Either the Bills defense is better than we thought or KC defense is pretty bad. Admittedly the Raiders have some key players back that they didn't have last week. -
I thought about that too but that's the week they just moved the Pitt Tenn game to. Plus think they'd not want to have a team in same division playing less games. So when looking at tie breakers we'd have one less game played within division that Pats. I don't have a problem with that if different number of games in conference or total, but would think within division would want the same. Actually Jets have bye week 11 to, so maybe we play Jet game that day? Who knows when Jets then have bye?

So what do you think will happen if I go to CBSAA on my other TV that doesn't have a ROKU attached so would be accessing directly through the app on my TV. Once I set it in the ROKU will all my usage points use the Buffalo location? Or will others default to real location of TV or will direct access on TV still open Buffalo station? It probably wouldn't matter as can just use the one TV with the ROKU for all Bills games as long as accessing on TV app doesn't reset all devices including ROKU to location of TV
-
So what would I potentially lose having the Buffalo station as my CBS All Access all the time. Certainly daytime TV schedule differs, but prime time is the same 99% of the time I'd imagine. Sports coverage would differ obviously and the local news and weather. I'd get to see blizzard warnings again!! Access to any of their older streaming library would all be the same I'd imagine?

I wonder though if non playoff teams that have games within themselves will still play them Week 18 strictly for revenues. They will tell all the players, you can play these games or not, but if you don't it likely will reduce next years salary cap by $X amount. Maybe won't matter if below the minimum agreed to though do wonder if 2020 lost revenues could somehow also affect 2022 cap? -
What are teams allowed to do during that shutdown? Can they continue to practice at their facility? If not then likely will need another 2 weeks to get them back into game shape, something that they may just be getting into now. And once they reconvene, what's going to change to prevent this from happening again? Other than the unauthorized practices, there's nothing to say it didn't start in a way where Tenn did nothing wrong. A players child brought it home from school, etc.

True but at least the Browns are winning. Mayfield Allen and Jackson are the only three from that QB class that are having much of any success. Rosen and Rudolph are pretty much busts and Darnold is on very shaky ground. He likely gets one more shot with a new coach to turn things around before he goes to the bust pile too.

OK but 10-5 beats 10-6 so it all evens out. It works both ways so fair. BTW did read an article the other day too that the league is already looking at this method to determine final standings. What's the better solution? Have the Bills play Tenn week 18 while the rest of the playoff teams have a bye? Maybe by then 75% of the league will need make up games, but if the number is that high, then very unlikely it's all one game per team, likely some teams have more than one game to make up.
