  1. Silly Bronocs... Picking an OLB over a DT. Rules of building a defense 101: all things being equal, you NEVER pass up the athletic big man, in favor of any other position on defense. Athletic big men who are strong and powerful, are perhaps the most difficult to find.
  2. Great!! Now if he ever sees the field, he can be pancaked by CJ Spiller!
  3. Shhhh... You're going to rile up the Kelsay fanboys. They'll come out of the woodwork to try and convince you that Kelsay's a solid and effective starter. Quite simply: Donte Whitner was a more productive SS, than Kelsay is as a DE/OLB.
  4. It really is sad isn't it? I hadn't thought about the ramifications of keeping Kelsay in the lineup, until you pointed them out. We really moved a promising young OLB (Moats) to backup ILB in favor of keeping Kelsay on the field. Carrington, who is much bigger, stronger, and younger, has to play OLB so that Kelsay can remain on the field at DE. Younger, faster, and more promising players, like Danny Batten, can't compete with Moats at OLB, because Kelsay remains on the field. I don't understand the lovefest for the life of me. We've already demonstrated that we're in favor of playing youth and potential over average to above average veteran players. I don't even consider Kelsay average and that's the scary part of the equation. If anything, Kelsay is a backup and should assume that role.
  5. It happens to the best of 'em: . Unfortunately for Maybin, he's without Merriman's history of success.
  6. I would put Kyle Williams over Aaron Schobel right now. We haven't had a player on the DL who wreaked consistent havoc in a while. Schobel was famous for meaningless sacks and wide loops to the QB. Kyle Williams brings it up the middle every down and is too much to handle for most interior lineman. I could NEVER say that Aaron Schobel was too much to handle for most LTs.
  7. Rice On Moss
  8. Who knew 3 years later, he'd still be without his first NFL sack? Incredible. I hope he managed his money wisely, because he'll need it for his second profession. Wish I could go back in time and undo this colossal disaster. Wish some other team had taken this problem off our hands, or better yet, I wish the Bills had a FO that was smart enough to avert a disaster in the making. I believe they do now. I hope they do now.
  9. Jauron wouldn't even play Maybin when he was here and he was his own freakin' draft pick! No way does he lobby for a trade.
  10. Some people are losing their minds around here... Apparently I was watching a Buffalo Bills team from a parallel universe. Chris Kelsay our most effective pass rusher?! Bwahahaha. I almost spit up my cereal! Kyle Williams was our most disruptive pass rusher last season and this isn't even up for debate. I'm not talking about sacks either, Williams made a living in the opponent's backfield. Not only has Kelsay never been a sack artist, but his wide loops to the quarterback have rendered him ineffective more often than not. He has never gotten a lot of pressure off the edge. When other players force the QB to him, he can't even finish the play. I could go on and on all day. Chris Kelsay couldn't hold Phil Hansen's jock.
  11. Correction: you start off with Wang, add Levitre, and then you have Wood. So the proper order is Wang, Levitre, Wood.
  12. If he had the work ethic and mindset of Jerry Rice, he would undoubtedly be the greatest WR of all time. But then again, that's what makes Jerry Rice, Jerry Rice. As it stands now, Moss is probably the most physically gifted WR to ever play the game.
  13. You probably won't find this out until after the pads go on...
  14. I've been watching the Bills religiously since '96, so I'm sorry to have to ask this... Who is John McCargo?! Is he the water boy?
  15. With Jauron being the DC for Whitner's hometown Browns, you would've thought that would've been a done deal already. Remember this: Whitner passed up a $5M/yr offer from the Bills, stating that they were "far apart" in negotiations. I'll be very interested in seeing what he ultimately signs for on the open market...
  16. True, but at that time Peters was still playing TE. If he had came in as a LT and they saw the potential he had (although raw), I think he would've made the 53 man roster. As another poster stated, Mike Jasper will not be cut UNLESS he absolutely stinks. I mean ABSOLUTELY. No man that big, agile, powerful, athletic, heavy, etc., etc., etc., exists in the NFL. Based on his numbers alone, he's the most athletic DT in the league. He also has great stamina, playing over 90 snaps/game at OG at Bethel. We'll see how his story shakes out, but I hope he has the potential to contribute in some way...
  17. I saw Brian Duncan (Texas Tech LB) play a couple of times and came away very impressed. He was a definite standout for the Red Raiders and I'm glad he'll have an opportunity to further his playing career in Buffalo. He has a real shot...
  18. I put this in the shout box, but might as well put it under the thread dedicated to Evans' Top 10 Performance. We tend to forget just how good Evans is, but in watching him shred the BAL defense, I did notice one thing about his comeback/out/short routes - they need to be more sudden. He takes pitter patter steps at the end of these routes whilst Steve Johnson has a sudden stop to his short game. It makes all the difference and is the reason why Johnson got the majority of short passes thrown his way. If close enough, a DB can jump a route if the WR takes a few steps to stop his route. A DB has no chance to jump a route on a sudden stop - unless he guesses correctly...
  19. Jasper is the most hyped 7th rounder in the history of the Buffalo Bills. I hope the dude lives up to every bit of the hype...
  20. According to these definitions, you CAN NOT hit them. It explicitly states, "a defender can't hit a QB in the act of throwing a pass, or right after the QB throws the pass." You also have to give the receiver time to avoid the oncoming hit, immediately after he has caught the ball. These are new amendments. We're not talking about launching yourself at these players, helmet to helmet, or whatever, those rules already existed. The "Touching of the QB's Helmet" rule was taken away to do away with the ticky tack personal foul calls that directly affect games. Sacks weren't sacks, because a player's hand may have grazed the QB's helmet. Again, these rules are not how you can't hit a player, but when you can't hit a player.
  21. I found this Q&A very interesting... I have a few problems with those issues in bold... 1) You can no longer hit a QB who's in the act of throwing the football?! Seriously?! This is how fumbles occur. These are exciting times for the defense and to take away the ability to hit a player while he is passing is absolutely absurd. Possibly the worst amendment to hit the rulebook. Ever. 2) A well timed hit after a receiver catches the ball, thereby dislodging the ball from the receiver, is no longer legal. The receiver must be given time to ward off the contact. Terrible. 3) A runner whose forward progress has been stopped? This is so subjective that it's ridiculous. How many times have we seen a player get hit, forward progress stopped, no whistle, get hit again, and break through those tackles to daylight...? If a player is hit and no longer moving forward, but the whistle has yet to blow, another defender should absolutely have the right to hit that player again. This is the NFL, players break tackles ALL the time. Hence the phrase, "I just kept my feet moving". 4) Are kickers and punters not football players? Are they not allowed to tackle the returner? Anybody on that field is fair game to be hit. 5) A player who receives a blindside hit from a player moving toward his own endzone... This is obviously the, "Hines Ward Rule". Now you can't block a player unless he looks at you. Great. Roger Goodell, how long will it be until your league is comparable to flag football, or two hand touch? You are taking away much of the game's physicality and some of these amendments are absolutely unnecessary. The game is getting worse ladies and gentlemen, not better.
  22. I can't rightly argue bout nothin' you spoke on, but this here be The Stadium Wall. Folks 'round here like gettin' out dem pitch foks and get ta jumpin' on other folks dat think a playa got potential. Truf is, these naysayers 'round here, ain't no betta than a Patriots fan runnin' 'round like a roosta lookin' for his chicken. This here fella rootin' for you Jasper. Eat dem quarterbacks!
  23. I guess you're not aware of the Bills winning streak against the Bengals...
  24. It never rains in Southern California.
  25. Does anyone believe the league would be in this current situation if former players' rep Gene Upshaw (RIP) and former commish Paul Tagliabue were still running the show? Very doubtful. I think this labor issue speaks directly to DeMaurice Smith and Roger Goodell, in failing at their positions to get deals done.
