  1. I would have though after his last performance vs. the Pats that he would have bought some goodwill from everyone. I guess I was wrong. Not saying he's the second coming of Bo Jackson, but I think Hines will be a decent change backup this season. And I bet he'll have a few long runs too.
  2. Playing for 5 different teams since 2019 will make you look old. But regardless of age, that's a huge issue that no one wants him for more than a year.
  3. Yikes. That's a huge disparity. I'm sure someone will say that we mostly throw to Davis deeper and that explains it but I don't think that's everything. You need your number two to put up better numbers than that.
  4. I absolutely agree. Just don't use a 1st on a slot guy. It's nuts that we have Diggs turning 30 this year and no one being groomed to replace him. Maybe Davis was hoped to be that guy, but with a QB like Allen we should be taking a shot every year at a potentially starting outside receiver and hopefully a guy with good traits. I think most people are in agreement we can take a slot guy but not in the first. I think.
  5. I'm not saying Shakir is a good #2, but what makes him a less than ideal slot guy? He seems to have the quickness, decent speed, good hands, smart...
  6. Where TF is "The Pill"?
  7. Interesting angle. But Shakir could be that guy and had pretty good scouting reports last year. So do we double down and draft someone just for the sake of slot competition with Shakir? Or did the staff suddenly lose faith in him after seeing him every day for a year. I won't be against drafting a slot guy but I hope it's not with the first. Shore up the O-line and draft a slot guy in the third or fourth.
  8. This can only be because they're not sure of Harris' availability. I hope Harris stays healthy for most of the year as I like him a lot.
  9. In this case we could use the 3rd overall to draft a pass rusher to replace Rousseau and that would mean that Hopkins only costs us two firsts and two seconds! Or we could just wait for the Cards to cut him.
  10. Does anyone recall McDermott or Beane being asked what the ideal role would be for Bernard? I think a fan base having to speculate on what role a third-round pick could fulfill, if he progresses the way management hopes. If so, someone please share. If not, it's kinda nuts that some significant draft capital was spent and the fan base/journalists don't know exactly why. it's not like this should be pentagon secrets. A decent journalist should ask flat out, "if Bernard becomes the player you hope he will be, will he one day start and in what position?"
  11. Probably not. Sorry, posted the Bernard comment in wrong thread. Will delete in this one and move...
  12. Dumb move if he thinks Huntley can help the Ravens be a contender.
  13. Guys, I don't think most people commenting here understand what the Cover 1 mock draft was about... It was dealing with a random computer-generated mock and they had to pick from the remaining players that the computer left them each round. The three guys said several times that the generation was NOT kind to them in the first two rounds. And a no-trade rule. This is NOT who they advocate the Bills should pick; it was just a fun exercise of playing with some draft generator and justifying who the Bills should take based on where the board happened to fall. The Cover 1 guy said he wanted WR, O-line or MLB first round. But none of the players the guys liked at those positions happened to be left at 27. They also acknowledged that Beane wound not wait if a guy he really like was a few spots away; Beane would swing a trade. Relax. They're not saying pick edge with 27th overall.
  14. We were a top-5 team last year but unless we're fully healthy — with Von, Hyde and Poyer — winning a championship is going to be very tough. Top 5 beats where we were for almost two decades but it ain't good enough without good health and good luck. Maybe new talent this year, and good health, will change that.
  15. A player with elite size/speed who is a hard worker is a great combo. I'd be ok with giving up a third to get that if Beane thinks he can succeed at the next level. Even if it takes him a couple years to really hit his potential (I'm not saying he doesn't contribute in the first couple years though), by then we can let Steff go and free up a lot of cap space.
  16. I've read here many times by knowledgeable posters that Torrence is not a fit for our O-line scheme. So what's happening? 1) The fans' scouting is off. 2) The Bills pros' scouting is off. 3) The Bills know he's not a natural fit but want to take him and make him work in our scheme all the same (they have a history, like with AJ and Basham of trying to change early-round picks). 4) The Bills want to change their O-line scheme. 5) It's a red herring to throw off our true drafting intentions. I'm curious what those with more expertise think as this seems like a disconnect.
  17. Bryce Ford-Wheaton is 221 lb. Holy cow. That size/speed/weight combo is enticing. If he's a 4th round project(ion), considering the Bills pick at the bottom of each round, is it reasonable to spend a third on him?
  18. Buffalo News article (may be behind paywall) where McVay has some nice things to say about Edwards: https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/new-bills-offensive-lineman-david-edwards-was-critical-factor-for-rams-coach-sean-mcvay-said/article_96141a2c-ce83-11ed-b1eb-8bce2010a129.html A couple highlights: “Aaron Kromer was instrumental in his development,” McVay said. “And so, I know he's really excited to be able to get him back with him.” “He's been a critical factor at the left guard spot for us for a long period of time,” McVay said. “(The Bills are) getting a great player, great person, great athleticism, for the size that he plays with, on the inside.”
  19. First of all, I must say that this tradition is quite the phenomenon: "The 21st annual Name 2 players Brandon Beane will select in the 2023 NFL Draft" The fact that this board had been predicting who Beane will select in the 2023 draft for 21 years is astounding — most players weren't even born when the tradition started. And Beane was probably just emptying trash bins in some locker room, a long way from running the Bills. Here are my entries: 1. Darnell Wright 2. Johathan Mingo
  20. The guy can play both sides. If Brown ends up elevating his game, at worst we have one great backup tackle; at best we have Dawkin's replacement in a year or two for a lot less money. Great problem to have: too many good tackles.
  21. I would gladly give up a 4th to get a tackle that may be the best in the class. Draft MLB in the second, WR in the 3rd and that's a good draft right there.
  22. Sanders' blitzing prowess is a huge point of difference, but other than that (which could be huge) they may be similar.
  23. Whether it's Wright or someone else, I'd be happier going tackle in the first round. Offense is more important today and getting cheaper tackle labor through the draft vs. free agency will be more cost effective than getting cheaper MLB labor. Draft the higher-paid position all other things being equal or close.
