  1. The guy can play both sides. If Brown ends up elevating his game, at worst we have one great backup tackle; at best we have Dawkin's replacement in a year or two for a lot less money. Great problem to have: too many good tackles.
  2. I would gladly give up a 4th to get a tackle that may be the best in the class. Draft MLB in the second, WR in the 3rd and that's a good draft right there.
  3. Sanders' blitzing prowess is a huge point of difference, but other than that (which could be huge) they may be similar.
  4. Whether it's Wright or someone else, I'd be happier going tackle in the first round. Offense is more important today and getting cheaper tackle labor through the draft vs. free agency will be more cost effective than getting cheaper MLB labor. Draft the higher-paid position all other things being equal or close.
  5. "“Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson, a likely top-five pick, says that Tennessee’s Darnell Wright is the best OT he faced in college. Anderson mentioned how much better Wright got year-to-year. Pointed to his ability to mirror rushers and anchor at his size.” https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2023/04/source-buffalo-bills-to-host-tennessee-ot-darnell-wright-on-top-30-visit.html
  6. The ability for our MLB to blitz well could be a significant element in the team's ability to pressure elite QBs. I'm not college fan but the little I've read and seen of Sanders looks very good. That said, I'd be happy taking a good O-lineman in the first.
  7. Obviously not a big deal but cool to see a back wearing 4. On a playing note, I think Cook will have a consistent impact this year with better blocking and more opportunities. I think he can be a weapon as a runner or pass catcher in a variety of packages and sometimes with Harris on the field.
  8. Nice summary. Not deep in analysis but better than a lot of "journalists" offer. Good to hear he thinks Sherfield (formerly with Miami) can help and is a good run blocker. Not getting my hopes up but if one of the two guards is better than what we've been used to and one of the two WRs can contribute I'll be happy. I feel pretty good about Harris and think he will improve the run game.
  9. I know this sounds trite but I hope you and your family are doing ok. I've lost people early too but that's way too soon. You are, sadly, one of the few who can empathize with Dawson.
  10. If we have another early playoff exit sign me up... [read in a Chris Rock voice] Yeah, I said it. I said it!
  11. I'm both baffled and disappointed with the Bernard pick but... I checked Milano's scouting report and lo and behold he ran just a 4.67 at 223 lb. So — and to be clear I'm not saying this will happen — maybe they're projecting Bernard to be another Milano-style linebacker. That's my only guess. Taking a guy in the third as a backup and special teams player is madness. Let's hope we're all wrong about Bernard and McBeane come out outsmarting us on this one.
  12. Well, I've looked at the top-10 receiver duos in the league and Davis' numbers stick out as the worst for consistency with maybe the exception of 32-year-old Thielen in Minny — and with Cousins throwing to him. Also, and I think this is huge, we have a top-3 QB in Allen so I don't want our number two guy posting merely acceptable or average numbers — I want him to have dominant numbers as a reflection of who is throwing to him. I — and many others — strongly disagree that Davis' numbers are "the nature of random numbers." Some athletes are streaky and others are consistent. I think consistency is a huge virtue as a number two guy because there will be games and teams who figure out how to minimize Diggs — and that's when we need the number two guy to step up. And what, God forbid, if Diggs gets hurt? Belichick has been famous for taking away a team's top weapon and others will do it to us too. We need a guy that gives us a dependable high-end receiving weapon. Maybe that will be Knox (we need to throw to him more to find out) but until then, it has to be our number two WR. I think most observers and fans here don't think that Davis is a high-end number two guy. You do and that's your right but many, including myself, think differently and want a replacement.
  13. If what the victim alleges is true, I hope Willie loses all his TV deals and sponsorships. That apology is meaningless and what every criminal says after he's caught.
  14. Show me another #2 receiver with a top quarterback that had a stretch of 6 games last year with 4 game under 40 yards receiving. I looked at the top-10 receiver combos last year and NO ONE was as inconsistent as Gabe. And that's with Josh Allen throwing to him. Please show me a top QB with a number two guy with the long stretches of low-yardage games like Gabe.
  15. Exactly. I think most people believe we'd be better off with a consistent chain mover from out #2 guy then someone who explodes for 171 yards one game but in a six-week span puts up this yardage (and near the end of the season): 33 35 74 171 13 37 Really? Some of you want that 171 yard big game from Davis and you're good with with four out of six games with 37 yards or less? Really, that's good #2 production? Not for me. Way too much pressure on Diggs to have monster games and for Josh to run for first downs. Give me a #2 guy that gets 60 to 80 yards from Josh freakin' Allen most weeks. But keep looking at yardage totals and tell yourself he's what the BIlls need.
  16. He'll get to learn from two great but aging (and sometimes injured) safeties. If he doesn't see the field much this year, that's ok for both sides. Good to have a younger player with upside in the system.
  17. With the high winds in Highmark Stadium I'd be worried that he might blow away.
  18. Anyone decent left in free agency? Or could this suggest a promotion internally to starter for one of the younger guys?
  19. So Harty, as small as he is, will play some outside and not just be in the slot? Thanks again.
  20. Anyone care to do a summary or share a couple salient points for those of us who don't subscribe?
  21. If the team really likes someone in the draft they think will be there, say, in the fourth round, I can see this working — though assuming a player you like in the draft will be there when he's "value" is always a risk. I get that more money to spend somewhere else helps, like MLB, but the interior D-line is vital; who do you like in free agency that can reasonably do most of what Ed does at a lower cost? Well, I think we need close to the same production because the QBs we struggle with can unload the ball in a hurry and inside pressure may be the best way to get to them. How much did Campbell play DT (versus DE) recently? If he can fill in middle and do a good job for $2 million, sure.
  22. It's not $10.7 million after you factor in his replacement. Who replaces Ed and how much does he cost? If you can get the same production from a $5 million player, you save $5 million. But I'm not sure we can.
  23. Campbell, 36, was released by the Baltimore Ravens this offseason after making 14 starts with the team in 2022. Last season, the defensive lineman recorded 36 total tackles (4 TFL), 5.5 sacks, 14 QB hits, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles. If signed by the Bills, the 3-time All-Pro would not count against the Bills in terms of 2024 compensatory picks. Those numbers ai't bad for an old guy. For a low cost, I liked him as depth and a mentor to Groot.
  24. Good one! Is your name an ST reference, btw?
  25. For most of the 2022 season, Josh was nowhere near the best QB in the league.
