  1. Also according to rumors both McVay and Aaron Donald may retire now. But at the end of the day they have a ring and that's all the matters even if they suck for the next 5+ years nobody is going to care, even most Rams fans in the LA market because they have so many other teams to cling to in terms of bandwagon jumping.
  2. There will certainly be teams more inclined to mortgage their future for short term success given the 2021 Rams story. But despite all the 'star power' there was nothing truly impressive about the Rams this year and outside of blowing out a struggling Cardinals team in the first round, they could have easily lost every other game including the SB last night if a few plays go the other way as all were very close one score games including having to come from behind in the final minutes to win both the NFC championship and SB. I still think at the end of the day having a true star player on defense matters and if the Bills do try to mimic what the Rams did this year and take any big swings it must be for a dominant pass rusher.
  3. Yawn...somebody please wake me up when we actually make a change on defense that matters.
  4. I don't have a problem with Spain speaking on this subject because if anything it's another clear example of how this regime has grossly mismanaged their roster and been poor evaluators of talent. And between the Spain situation and trading Wyatt Teller you really have to wonder what they are looking at in terms of offensive line evaluation. Throw in poor FA signings like Feliciano and other bad draft picks like Cody Ford and it's puzzling to say the least.
  5. Several weeks later I'm still doing a lot of soul searching as a fan and can't imagine the entire Bills organization isn't in the same mindset. But there is no overreacting to such a horrendous loss that doesn't happen 99 times out of 100 in similar circumstances. And 10 years from now if this team is still in search of an elusive championship we may look back as the 2021 season being the best opportunity we had but will have to replay those 13 seconds in infamy similar to the 17 years between the music city miracle debacle and finally getting back to the postseason again.
  6. I think it was a step back for several reasons: 1) Allen wasn't as consistent during the regular season as previous year but he certainly made up for it in the playoffs. 2) The main goal was to get homefield throughout and the #1 seed and that was there for the taking this year especially with such a weak schedule but this team failed to do that which is one of many reasons their season ended again in KC. 3) Piggybacking off the 2nd point, this team started 4-1 and finished 4-0 but was a very bad 3-5 in between. This was a combination of many things but I still blame coaching for this and you can't take half the season off and truly expect to be a championship contender. 4) I still don't buy the idea that this team in the early stages of some sort of infinite SB window just because they've solved the QB position. This is a strange league you simply don't know what's going to happen each year especially with injuries, regime changes, roster turnover, etc so 2021 was a wasted opportunity. In the end though before the season started I predicted 12-5 and losing in the division round and I was spot on for the most part just off one loss. But I still think it's very realistic that 2020 was the peak for this regime and we could be looking at a new HC and/or GM as soon as 2023 if this team doesn't deliver this year.
  7. At some point you need fresh perspectives and it's almost like McDermott lives in his own little bubble and looking for mindless lackeys to do as their told. There's a whole other world in the NFL landscape besides Orchard Park and the Carolina Panthers organization in terms of finding player and coaching talent.
  8. Seems like a weak move by McDermott to promote from within when you are trying to fix a problem.
  9. The punting situation has been horrible under Farwell and too many valuable roster spots allocated to ST only type of guys like Matakevich, Jones, etc.
  10. If the Jags were stupid enough to get fleeced and make that deal than Beane and the Bills would be fools not to make that deal. If we are giving up quality draft picks though I still think the best route is to trade for a proven veteran like we did with Diggs. Need someone that can step in day one and transform this entire defense because of the attention they'll command and it also makes Oliver that much better in the process.
  11. There's plenty out there including Vic Fangio and Jim Schartz, I'd take either of him over Frazier and wouldn't think twice. Would have hired Martindale too but Daboll scooped him up already. Just think a different perspective is needed if this team is going to take the next step.
  12. Good news IMO. Now we can dump all these ST only guys like Matekavich who probably wasn't going to be here anyway given his contract.
  13. Yep the Jags certainly peaked that year and it was all downhill after. And even if you take Marrone's two season in Buffalo to account it wasn't all that impressive but 2014 probably should have been a playoff year here too because that defense was very good and the offense was good enough especially once Orton was in the lineup.
  14. Again it's not just about the '13 seconds'. It's about the 4+ quarters before that in which this defense was raped by the Chiefs and moved the ball at will for 500+ yards. And as much as everyone keeps pointing to the fluke victory in October which in hindsight is as hollow as it gets, you have to look at the complete body of work during Frazier's time here and that's one that rarely has played well or held up against above average/elite QB's in this league. Just lots of stat padding in between against rookies and backup caliber QB's and this year was the epitome of that. Like I've said for some time, it's no longer about regular season success (i.e. top 5 defensive rankings) and just getting to the playoffs. It's about getting to SB's and winning them now and still think a lot of fans don't understand this or want to admit that this current regime may have reached their ceiling and not capable of going any further. Hopefully the Pegula's do and have already sat down with Beane and McDermott and told them they need to deliver in 2022 or big changes are imminent.
  15. Beane could probably get as high as a 2nd rounder for him if another team truly believes in Edmunds talent and thinks he's miscast in the Bills defense. Either way any talk of him still waiting to 'break out' for the Bills in this current scheme is delusional at best and Edmunds has shown exactly who he is.
  16. If they have they really have a funny way of showing it. I get if they were waiting to see if there was a chance of him landing a HC job so the problem could fix itself but now is the time to move on and make a change if it's going to happen and McDermott is serious about evolving and taking the next step (and beating the Chiefs in a game that actually matters).
  17. This alone is reason enough to have fired Frazier by now, at least that is what a franchise with true championship aspirations what have done. At this point though if McDermott truly wants to seal his long term fate in Buffalo and stay attached to Frazier good for him because the irony is there won't be a long term future for them here unless the Pegula's are truly oblivious to the reality around them.
  18. Interesting that he has publicly said the only QB he would consider playing for now is Joe Burrow. Why not Allen and the Bills especially with the prospect of playing back home?
  19. It's still hard to fathom that Marrone came with a blown late 4th quarter lead of taking the Jags to the Superbowl just 5 years ago. Not sure if he's ever going to climb the HC mantle again in this league but he's definitely had a certain degree of success in this league.
  20. As far as I'm concerned McDermott is sealing his own fate by not making a change this offseason. But at the same time maybe it's not Frazier which again is a direct indictment on McDermott if he's truly pulling the strings on the defensive side and the main force behind the predicable bend but don't break crap.
  21. The NFL is still all about cycles and while I agree in theory that heavy blitzing can be a recipe for disaster against QB's that know how to beat them, the overall theme in any modern NFL scheme is having a capable pass rush with your front 3 or 4 so you aren't blitzing like crazy or when you do blitz you are either forcing an incompletion, getting a turnover, sack, etc more times than not. This is why Baltimore was very successful prior to 2021 before they were hit by injuries and also some some of their key players depart in free agency like Judon who transformed the Pats defense big time this year before tailing off late in the season. Either way I'd take Martindale's defense anyday over a whatever exactly you call McDermott and Fraziers's defense that has been the main reason we've failed to advance in the postseason the last few years and will likely be the same story again in 2022 as long as we have to face the Chiefs and other teams with elite QB's.
  22. I think this is pretty accurate, if anything there wasn't really any major contributors this year outside of Brown who wasn't even expected to be a factor but was somewhat forced in the lineup by default because of how bad the oline was early in the year. At some point though Beane needs to be under the microscope because outside of Allen, you can argue he's not had any real big time hits in the draft in terms of finding star players, or even above average NFL players for that matter. And if Groot and/or Basham doesn't become a big time impact player next year that's essentially 3 wasted high draft picks on the dline in 2 years because doesn't look like Epensa is going to amount to much in this league through 2 seasons. Meanwhile the team we are still chasing in the AFC continues to have excellent drafts on a year basis including finding two future all pros in Creed Humprhey and Nick Bolton last year.
  23. If you really believe this was the number one defense in the league last year you weren't paying attention. The stats couldn't be more misleading given the sheer amount of garbage we played at the QB position on opposing team, quite possibly the easiest slate you'll ever see in terms of rookies/backups/journeymen, etc. The point is that when you look at what Frazier has done against above average/elite NFL starters during his time in Buffalo he's failed miserably including just about every playoff game minus the Ravens last year and there's an asterisk in that one since Jackson got hurt and didn't finish the game.
  24. Like I said, he's been a decent player and probably has the potential to do more. Probably should have done more quite frankly but there there were many mouths to feed here and this coaching staff seems to gravitate towards giving veterans as much playing time as possible even when there are younger, better players available. But to assume he's going to go from an average of @ 25 catches/200 yards/1 TD per season and even double that is wishful thinking even in an offense that gives him more snaps. If he were to do that though either in Buffalo or elsewhere it's another major indictment on this coaching staff.
  25. It looked like Murray was truly turning the corner and one his way to superstardom this past season but ultimately his flaws caught up to him so I would not be shocked one bit if he's rethinking his NFL future. And you take away the stupid hail mary against the Bills and the hype isn't nearly what it's cracked up to be with him.
