  1. This Bates saga is a bit strange and raises a few questions in that either Beane did not think he would get much interest on the market and/or doesn't care if we lose him to another team. Bates was a key piece of the oline rounding into form at the end of the season and into the playoffs but you still have to wonder if he's legit 16+ game starting material. If he does leave guard becomes another major priority along with DB.
  2. Damn where on earth is there going to be room on this roster for draft picks this year???
  3. I seriously hope this isn't the case considering the massive hole this team has right now at the DB position.....
  4. Even if that's the case the Colts were a playoff team under those circumstances a few years ago, one that outplayed the Bills for the most part and could have easily won that game in Buffalo too. With that said the conference might be too loaded for the Colts to make noise this year unless Ryan has an MVP type of season there.
  5. Agree, plus would he even want to come back here? Could have sworn he made negative comments about the area when he left but that was some time ago and might not matter at this point especially if the market drys up and his options dwindle.
  6. AFC is going to be loaded from top to bottom, and in the AFCS you get the sense that there very well only be one team that gets to the playoffs from that division this year given the strength of the other 3 divisions in terms of WC's. With that said, this is a move that could pay big dividends for the Colts especially if the change of scenery angle revitalizes Ryan's career. He really only needs to be a pseudo game manager type of QB in Indy behind their physical running game and defense for this to work.
  7. Seems more like a camp body, won't be surprised if we draft a RB again this year somewhere in rounds 4-7.
  8. It's still insane that we paid a guy like Murphy almost $10M per season to be a rotational 5 sack a season type of guy. This is why getting a proven commodity like Von Miller at $17M a year is almost a steal.
  9. IMO this team needs to sign two capable veteran DB's sooner than later. Because it's truly wishful thinking to assume White is going to be ready at the start of the season or anywhere close to 100%. He probably won't come back until midseason and be close to his old self until December/January if that. Therefore there is no way this team is going into the season with Jackson and and a rookie DB as their starting tandem after overhauling the dline once again making a splash with Von Miller.
  10. Pretty much, if he looks good in summer great if not he's released without hurting the cap situation.
  11. I knew Barkley couldn't be the real back up target....very solid move here and a guy that can win games especially on a roster built like this one.
  12. This. Not only are they guaranteeing him Mahomes/Allen type of money (and still think he's not close to being in the same class), they are basically saying they don't give a ***** about the allegations or any pending suspensions. Also remember this is a guy that signed a guaranteed contract already with another team and decided he didn't want to play for them anymore (likely because of said allegations and because that team was entering a full blown rebuilding mode). Funny too how Watson magically changed his mind about going to Cleveland once the contract became 'guaranteed' because obviously other teams were smart of enough to want contingencies. Either way karma has a way of sorting itself out and don't be surprised if he tears an ACL especially after not playing football in so long by the time he sees the field again.
  13. There's nothing I've seen from the Dolphins or Pats in FA so far that indicates they have closed the gap on the Bills or even playing in the same league but bad luck and injuries can change everything. I do agree though that between the AFCW and AFCN you will likely see all the wildcards come from those 2 divisions meaning only the AFCS and AFCE division winners get in the tourney this year.
  14. If true guess this team is supremely confident in Allen continuing to stay healthy for 17+ game season.
  15. He's made the probowl which I guess means something. But I've said all along, it's not that he's bad as much as it's he's a JAG type of player on this team. But if another team views him as a more natural fit in their scheme and that he's out of place in Buffalo (which I also believe is the case) why wouldn't they give up a 2nd round pick for him especially since he's still very young. A 2nd round pick is best case, but I would also do it for a 3rd rounder especially if the decision has been made we aren't resigning him long term anyway.
  16. Brady about to have the easiest path to the SB which is why he obviously came back for another year.
  17. Considering there will probably be at least 3 PO teams that come out of the AFCW this year it's going to be very tough for the Browns to make the playoffs unless it's via division title and still see nothing on paper that indicates they are better than a (healthy) Ravens and Bengals team right now to surpass either of them.
  18. 100% accurate and what I said too. Watson is an upgrade over Mayfield, but is he even a fit there given their a built to be a physical, power running team? What happens to that now and who is he even going to throw the ball to? I actually feel sorry for the Browns fans who suffered many years like Buffalo because this situation has disaster written all over it and still can't fathom why any team would give up so much for a guy who signed a big extension already and quit on his team and demanded to be traded. Going to be hilarious when he does the same thing in Cleveland when they are no better than 3rd place in their division this year.
  19. I still think Watson is overrated and his only playoff win came against the Bills when Allen wasn't nearly the QB he is today and yet we probably should have won that game. Also good chance Watson is still suspended by the NFL at some point and this is now another loaded division with the defending AFC champions, a healthy Ravens squad and Steelers team that still has a playoff caliber roster with an upgrade at QB now. In other words don't be surprised if the Browns aren't even in the playoffs again this year.
  20. Declining player metric wise, wanted to be reunited with his oline coach and compete for a ring. Add to the fact he probably was smart enough to understand his market this deal isn't that much of a surprise. Worst case for the Bills is he's just a drop in replacement for Wiliams and/or placeholder for a rookie we draft next month.
  21. Weird this guy would sign here again knowing he's probably a long shot to make the team just like last year.
  22. That's part of my point in trading him so he can be on a team that's a better fit (i.e. playing behind larger bodies in a 3-4/4-3). Still think he belongs outside anyway in either of these type of schemes. Because obviously we just signed a bunch of DT's that are similar to what we've had in recent years that fit McD/Frazier scheme, therefore nothing should be expected to change if Edmunds is still here.
  23. Actually in Star's defense he did have a few big games in terms of game changing plays (cowboys thanksgiving game comes to mind) but in his role he was supposed to be more of a true 'space eater', but in this case because of his ridiculous contract he was more of a 'salary cap eater' here.
  24. Your last sentence sums it up perfectly and why Beane has no business paying a guy like this $12 million this season and likely much more on a long term extension. Most fans like myself were patient the first few years buying into the 'he's still only 19/20 years old and growing into his frame' idea. But we are now entering the 5th year of the Edmunds experiment still waiting for something that's simply not coming especially since LB is one of the easiest positions to transition from the college to pro level. At some point you just need a fresh start and that would benefit both sides here especially for a team that realizes any potential Edmunds may still have is going to be in a different defense/scheme.
  25. Looks like the Patriots are going to have to settle for scraps and dumpster diving like the Bills used to for many years when they couldn't land bigger names.
