  1. I feel that guys who have played on both sides of the ball in college gain a better understanding of the game. Richard Sherman (wr to cb) and JJ Watt (te to de) particularly benefitted because they have a better insight into the technique of the guy they're lined up against.
  2. Back in the "Legion of Boom" era it was clear that the leaders of the defense did not like Wilson. However, considering what has come to light over the last couple years regarding Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman, maybe Russell wasn't the problem.
  3. Over the past decade, it's become apparent that Quarterbacks have gained an enormous amount of leverage within their organizations due to the fact that there simply aren't enough good qb's to go around. The Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson contract dances every offseason have become tiring and now we have another qb joining in without even having earned that clout. I hope we realize how lucky we are to have a guy like Josh Allen who handled his contract situation with class and never threw his organization or teammates under the bus.
  4. Cheap ✓ Young ✓ Still has upside ✓ I would prefer a veteran with a better track record, but we could do much worse.
  5. The Dolphins getting any kind of franchise qb will make the division less of a cakewalk. They actually have a pretty decent roster with a lot of young talent and could become an instant contender.
  6. I assumed we would resign Harrison Phillips and sign a 2nd tier speed rusher in free agency (Derek Barnett, Justin Houston, Charles Harris, Arden Key) Add a veteran TE since rookies take so long to develop at that position (Maxx Williams or Mo Allie-Cox) Add a vet wr coming off a down year who wants to improve his stock (DJ Chark, Allen Robinson, JuJu, Michael Gallup) Add Ryan Fitzpatrick as backup qb so he can finish his career in Buffalo Even with this modest free agency, we would need to restructure a couple of our top contracts to get under the cap
  7. I used the PFF Mock Simulator with no trades: 1:25 Andrew Booth CB 2:57 Travis Jones DT 3:89 Skyy Moore WR 4:127 Dylan Parham G 5:166 Tariq Woolen CB 6:184 Hassan Haskins HB 6:202 Luke Fortner C 7:242 Matt Araiza P
  8. I would prefer to stick with the hot hand. If Ed Oliver is getting consistent pressure, then keep him in there until he gets tired. Make players earn their pass-rushing reps instead of arbitrarily splitting them.
  9. WR in the first two rounds is pretty much a foregone conclusion unless we are able to somehow sign one of the tops guys (Adams, Allen Robinson, Juju, Mike Williams) and keep their salary under the cap constraints. Out of Treylon Burks, Jameson Williams, and Jahan Dotson, at least one of these guys should be available at #25. If we end up taking a small speed receiver early, I would also like to get Justyn Ross in the 3rd to add some size to our wr group. His stock has gone down, but I think he still hasn't reached his ceiling.
  10. This is probably the most realistic mock free agency that I've seen so far. However, this would still probably require cutting Feliciano and extending or restructuring Diggs' contract. I think this would cause us to go after an outside WR, CB, and TE early in the draft.
  11. Christian Kirk wr from the Cardinals Josh is recruiting him right now
  12. Unlike the Rams, our window is a decade long. I think this team's success is sustainable and I wouldn't mortgage our future by dealing picks unless it's for a young player that we extend for a long-term deal. Von Miller played well for the Rams down the stretch, but trading a 2nd and 3rd round pick for half a season of play will hurt them in the long-term. I think we are more likely to trade away players for picks as draft day approaches (Edmunds, Morse, Beasley, Ford)
  13. I was hoping the Bills could get him, but I guess he preferred to coach on a team with an aggressive 3-4 front. What linebackers coach wouldn't want TJ Watt?
  14. It's hard to tell how the CB's will be slotted until we get combine results and a bad 40 time could cause any of the top guys to fall to our spot. Andrew Booth is also a possibility at 25. LB depth is a sneaky need for us and would give us options if Edmunds' asking price is too high. I thought Andre Smith looked pretty solid in preseason, though. I think Travis Jones is a great fit for us if we move on from Star and Butler. I'm not sure if he makes it to the end of the 3rd and I would be happy with taking him in the 2nd. Pre-draft talk is mostly smokescreens. Beane's too smart to blab about our draft plans.
  15. After reading "The Patriots' Superbowl window is closing" articles from 2009-2019 I have learned that a team's window is as long as their star qb's contract.
  16. Even if we can retain Zimmer and Phillips on team-friendly contracts I would like to add a dynamic free agent DT to make up for the loss of Star and Butler. The lack of push up the middle has been severely hindering our pass-rush.
  17. Yeah after the Superbowl I've definitely lost interest in the NFL. I probably won't go to another game for at least 6 months
  18. He gave us everything he had this season and I appreciate that, but I think father time is catching up to him. He's had a great career and has a Superbowl ring, so I think the only reason he would come back would be to win another championship or get to 10,000 yards in his career (he would need 755)
  19. I think we will do a better job of running plays out of formations that do not give away whether we are running or passing. I believe Kromer will be involved in designing this offense and that bringing in a capable #2 TE will be a priority.
  20. Our defense is built to prevent the big play over the top, but it's extremely predictable. I understand that we aren't a blitzing team, but we need to be more deceptive on defense to confuse the opposing quarterback. We may only send 4 players to rush the qb, but keep them guessing which 4 we are sending.
  21. It's crazy to think how incredible this offense would be with a dominant offensive line. They played a lot better down the stretch and seemed to gel once they put Bates at left guard, but I think we can still upgrade the interior.
  22. We may draft another rb this year, but a veteran option may be Raheem Mostert if the 49'ers don't resign him. He's coming off an injury that cost him the year and he's nearing 30, but he hasn't had that many carries in the NFL. He ran a 4.32 40 in college and averaged 5.7 ypc in the pros.
  23. We don't run enough crossing routes and we use a lot of curl routes that end up with the receiver facing the line of scrimmage, making it difficult to break away from a defender that you can't see until you turn upfield. If it's true that Toney is available from the Giants, I would make that deal for a 3rd rounder.
