Wk 14 Postgame Thread Bills lose to Ravens 24-17
Bob in STL replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty negative post. The offense was not very good true, but we did move the ball and we had four chances from the red zone to win or tie. Baltimore bullied us a bit but we ran on them. Dropped passes and bad pass blocking hurt us as much as anything Baltimore did. Hopefully the Bills learned something today because they basically just played a playoff game and they have 3 more before the season ends. -
Technically it was the wrong call. If you miss it you are 9 behind - so another TD plus 2 points doesn’t get you a tie and requires yet a third possession which there was not enough time for. If you make it, which they did, you can tie with a TD and PAT, or win the a TD and another 2 pointer. Since they made it all is forgiven. Had they missed it there would have been a bigger debate. The explanation can can only be momentum, which seems odd since they were pushed backwards from the two yard line and took 4 downs to score.

Shut down? Hardly. The offense clearly got run over by a mean and nasty defense. Overall I think the Bills gave it a good game, they had a bad first half and still they had a chance to take the game in the end but came up short. This game highlighted the need for a better LT (move Dawkins to RT) and a true stud WR. -
Wk#14 Bills vs Ravens PreGame Thread

This will be the first time watching the great and powerful Lamar for a full game. I’ve seen the highlights, he is impressive. I think we can win if course. This is a big game indeed. No prediction, hoping the Bills fans make a difference today. The nation is watching so maybe we have a breakout game. . -
The “experts” in the media had Darnold and Mayfield rated top two, Rosen and Allen as next two. Allen being the likely 4th place guy due to to his lesser pedigree. Lamar was “the other guy” who could get drafted in the first round- a consolation to teams that did not have a prime pick. Looking at the draft order, most scouts and GMs agreed with the media projection.. Today Lamar, the last in the class, is the toast of the draft, a superstar in year 2. Allen still gets a lot of negative press, despite his accomplishments in the W-L column. Mayfield and Darnold - well the media expert still hope to see them develop since the have pitched them so hard. Rosen is lost in Miami.

Curious comments. Buffalo never grew on the scale of Chicago. Economically what happened to Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit - I assume you mean the end of factory/heavy industrial production jobs - also happened in Chicago ... they just have more a diverse economy to pick up the slack. I think Buffalo is in a rebirth phase.

To make the OP feel better- I lived in Buffalo. I lived in Baltimore. Baltimore has more problems by far. It’s politics are killing it from inside out. There are nice parts to both but I honestly think Buffalo is nicer, cleaner, safer, more fun, and is on an upswing. Right now Buffalo just has a better vibe. Baltimore is rotting. Sorry to say. And there is no comparison between the Md and NY in beauty. New York State is lovely. MD has no Great Lakes, no Finger Lakes, nothing to compare to NY wine country, no Adirondacks, no Catskills,. MD is plane Jane. Sailing on Chesapeake Bay and eating crabs are ok though. Buffalo is cold in the winter so you ski, sled, skate. Baltimore is cold in the winter and yet has little winter sports because too little snow and no mountains, mostly flat terrain. Baltimore is very hot and humid in the summer. Lots of little rivers and inlets from the bay add to humidity. Buffalo was fabulous weather in the summer. Cool breezes off of the massive Lakes.

This post is chock full of ridiculous statements. You play the schedule your given. You always play to win. Case closed. -

I never notice their celebrations to be worse than any others. I was sick of the excessive celebrations 25 years ago. Now it’s so common no one really cares -
Individual stat are not the most thing in the defense we play.

It is expected that you work in the off season with your QB. Nothing groundbreaking about it. I mean like not complaining about how many targets you get in a game, then dropping the ones you do get. If we draft a WR in the first round I want him to be better than Sam Watkins. Bigger, stronger, more durable, more reliable and someone who fits in.

Great point about liking one player does not mean you have to not like another. A real football fan knows this. He is correct. 1983 draft first round - Elway, Marino, Kelly were all great HoF. Blackledge, O’Brien and Eason were all average or below. I don’t recall the media hating the other three. They had years to play and prove themselves without ridicule. Today the expectations on QBs are unrealistic. The media coverage is over the top. The media has lowered their standards to the same thing that fans tweet about or spout out on forums. They should be better than that.
