Just the other day, I watched an hour long video on Youtube where a guy just walked through a certain neighborhood in Tokyo, filming as he went along. Never said a thing. You could hear whatever sounds were in the area as he kept walking with a crowd of pedestrians. It was really cool, kind of like being transported to Tokyo for an hour. I would never have thought of doing what you are doing with the headset---walking around whatever interests you on the planet. That's pretty cool. I would enjoy that.

Greg Cosell, NFL Films painted a not-so-great picture on Bills O
Nextmanup replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah right, totally abandon what got us to the AFC championship game last year. Dial it back to the Dick Jauron era instead! NO....If we are going to get anything done this year it will be because we rediscovered our fast passing attack. You CANNOT try to re-invent this team at this point in time. That will be a bigger disaster than losing to Jacksonville and the Colts. -
This has to be the year..Tasker semifinalist for HoF
Nextmanup replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
There are a few names almost every year that get into the HOF that leave me cold--where I'm thinking "Really? That guy? He's going into the HOF?" If that's the standard at least for some, Tasker should be in there. This is not the big deal some people paint it to be. If he were to get in, most people would forget about it 48 hours later. -
Who knows! There is way to much inside stuff going on that we would need to know to accurately comment on that, but we don't know any of it. Perhaps the coaching staff thinks there is a benefit that comes from consistency of scheme on D. I.E., the players are so familiar with it they have a greater comfort level and can therefore focus better on the game and not their positioning, etc. I don't know. If you are saying: "Wouldn't it be nice to change it up on D now and again, especially when the base D doesn't work?" My answer is "ABSOLUTELY!"

11/25/21 Thanksgiving Gameday Bills at Saints Pregame Thread
Nextmanup replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
In all seriousness, New Orleans is so freaking banged up right now we simply can't lose to them. If we do, it will be because there are problems with this team that aren't going to be fixed this year. I DO think we will win however. I will still be holding my breath until (and if) we establish a comfortable lead. Maybe 10 or so. -

I can't fathom, nor could anyone construct, a less interesting matchup than Chicago vs. Detroit. It's as bad as NFL football can ever possibly get. And yes, I have the game on and am watching. LOL And yes, it's like watching PAINT DRY. -
Todays Athletic article - Reality Check on Bills
Nextmanup replied to Ed_Formerly_of_Roch's topic in The Stadium Wall
The "O" is no different than it was last year. And it's not the problem--the one dimensionality. The problem is execution/coaching/focus/preparedness on both sides of the ball. -
Not sure if It’s coaching , talent , effort, Do youself a favor;
Nextmanup replied to DrPJax's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just finished it myself. I don't like the host, and the 2 of them goof around too much and kill a lot of time...but to suggest Fina isn't providing some golden analysis here is misleading. Keep in mind he was a good OL in the NFL; his opinion is informed. Of course, that doesn't mean he has everything correct and other former NFL players might disagree with some of his conclusions. What is concerning is that he (at least thinks) he is seeing huge coaching problems, lack of attention to detail, and worst of all, lack of effort by a number of players (not Oliver though!). He also praises the effort of guys like Harrison Phillips. If Fina is even 50% right in his analysis, Vernon Butler needs to be off the team this coming off-season....and replacing the line coaches (both sides) might be a good idea too. -

I'm just getting started with this, barely 10 minutes into it, and I had to come here and give Fina major style points. The host made reference to Plaxico Burress; he said "I remember Plaxico catching a pass, falling down to the ground, getting up without getting touched, and then spiking the football." LOL But then Fina responded: "Yeah, I remember Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg in a night club in NYC." AWESOME JOHN! LMFAO! -
My thoughts from attending yesterday’s game
Nextmanup replied to Brennan Huff's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's amazing how little of this sort of thing is on this board right now. People will come up with any reason we lost imaginable (didn't want it bad enough?) but not suggest Allen had a crap football game. 🤭 -
A Few Thoughts about the Colts game, in no particular order
Nextmanup replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see none of your sub-topics are "JOSH ALLEN." Which I find funny, as he was mostly terrible in the game and his performance probably directly relates to the loss more than the other factors combined. -

Just so we are all clear. The word is: "FLAK." No "C" in there.

Just goes to show how up and down the NFL can be from just 1 year to the next. And yet football fans constantly make the mistake of judging "now" based on what happened "last year." The league is very even to begin with, and then every team is a moving work in progress, every year. It's all a very fluid situation and making assessments based on absolutes determined 6 months ago is foolish. A lot of Bills fans here, right now, are having trouble realizing that New England is a huge threat to us this season. I think they watched NE play their first few games on TV this year, and concluded they weren't that good based on those performances. So they get slotted away in their mind as "not good" when in fact, they are playing much better than us lately and probably have a better defense....with much better coaching to boot.

Serious question; what causes a team to pancake like this?
Nextmanup replied to npeartisgod's topic in The Stadium Wall
Injuries, lack of depth at key areas, a very poor offensive line, and the wrong kind of matchup against Indy are what caused it. It's always those sorts of things. Every game is made up of lots and lots of on-field details. Sometimes things go right, sometimes they don't. This isn't chess. At the end of the day, you have to execute. -
I would argue the organization is actually back to trying to lose this year. There is no real value in winning (in a missed playoff season) and getting worse draft picks. We are still actually in the EARLY stages of a rebuild. After this busy week, we should be solidly out of a playoff position and likely won't be back in one again for the rest of the year. Out of the picture in November is always tough to take. This team has 2 fundamental problems that won't be fixed this year. First, mediocre goaltending. It's actually been surprisingly better than expected, but over the course of 82 games, it will regress to the mean and be pretty bad. Second, this team is going to struggle to score goals night in and night out, despite putting up 4 last night, and a bunch the night before! Again, over the long haul, scoring won't be there. You combine both and get a lousy goal differential and that equals losses. We won't be the worst team in the league this year, but we'll be like bottom 5-8 I'd say. The absolute EARLIEST I see this team as maybe being able to do something substantive is year after next. And that assumes a bunch of question marks turn into hits and not misses. Still waiting and hoping for Pegula to sell the team, but I don't see that coming.
-
Yes that's it. They just don't have enough inner mental strength. PS: Just curious, how in the world would you actually know something like that? What data are you using to make your evaluation, other than blind speculation.

He'll bounce around the league forever, like all NFL coaches/coordinators do. No big deal for him. Probably glad to be out of NY.

Josh Allen: Bills aren’t executing and that starts with me
Nextmanup replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can all the "Run the ball" discussion go away, please? It's not 1983 anymore. Last year the Bills FINALLY developed a dynamic, aggressive, passing attack, and we had one of the best offenses in the entire NFL and we got to the AFC Championship Game. And now you want to go back to Rex Ryan football? Or how McDermott appeared to be early on--with a desire to win all games 13-7??? We need to start EXECUTING on both sides of the ball. Allen is right! He needs to be better. This team lives and dies by his right arm. Not the damned RB corps! -
Have a look through this: it's the NFL protocols for COVID for the regular season, as agreed upon by the NFL and the NFLPA. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-nflpa-agree-to-covid-19-protocols-for-regular-season

11/21 Colts at Bills, Postgame Postmortem Thread
Nextmanup replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have seen this before in other recent games where the offense struggled. Watching from the "all 22" perspective you can see how many plays involved all receivers going pretty deep! Like solid medium range and longer routes...all of which required way too much time to develop. Lots of fans love to beat up on the OC, whoever that might be, in every game. But that type of thing is where Daboll should probably come under pressure. In a game where the OL is playing like crap, Allen is in panic mode, and the defensive front 7 are getting consistent pressure....how about letting up some of these routes?! Have one of those guys go a bit shorter so Allen has at least 1 target sooner (not counting some dump off play at the LOS). -
Is McDermott a Wartime Consigliere?
Nextmanup replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why would you compare McDermott to other Bills coaches? Past Bills coaches are not some sort of standard worthy of comparison. Seems like a recipe for failure. How about comparing him to SB winning HCs in the last 20 years? How does he stack up there? -
Sean McDermott: A Parallel to the Business World
Nextmanup replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think a coach for the coach would help. What would help, if you want to bring in something from the "outside" are intelligent numbers people who do not come from a football background--and then giving them enough power within the organization to have a say in decision making. McDermott has said many times that he makes in-game decision based on "feelings" essentially. He might decide to go for a TD on 4th and 2 from the 2 yard line simply b/c he thought it would "fire up the team at the time" and so on. Critical in-game decisions should not be made around FEELINGS! They should be made from NUMBERS and there is almost always only one correct answer. I genuinely believe McDermott doesn't get that b/c he doesn't come from an intellectual background. Bring in people to teach the coaching staff about the value of information and implement systems for integrating information into in-game decision making. McD and company have gotten a LITTLE better at this sort of thing over time, but are still a mess.
