From a governmental/political viewpoint, if they are going to bother with a new stadium at all, they should probably do two things: put a roof on it so it can generate revenue for the area year round doing many things other than football, and 2) it should be in downtown Buffalo and not out in the middle of a parking lot in Orchard Park or any other suburban location. It will have an enormous trickle effect to the surrounding area, especially if they build it down near the current hockey arena. The whole area could really be built up into a thriving destination and revenue builder for the area. If they aren't going to put a roof on it and build it downtown, don't build a new stadium at all. We already have a "normal football stadium" without a roof out in the middle of nowhere. Don't need to replace it with a new one, just so Pegula can make himself a bit more rich via a stadium with better revenue generating features. If that's what he wants, let him build his own stadium with his own money.

I just got back from a walk on the beach in Florida, some 8,000 miles away from your beach walk! The sun never sets on the Bills Empire! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well.

This is from Tuesday, so it may well not be up to date info. now: The Patriots placed four players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, and linebackers Harvey Langi, Cameron McGrone, and Ronnie Perkins. They join Patriots tight end Dalton Keene and guard Yasir Durant on a growing designation. https://sports.yahoo.com/4-patriots-placed-covid-19-194133253.html

Showdown with Pats is a judgment day for Sean McDermott, Bills
Nextmanup replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Judging anyone on one game is unfair. It is not unfair, however, to judge McDermott on 4 years of work plus the game on Sunday. Is he ever going to be able to out-coach a really good coach? Ever? If not, wouldn't it be a good idea to try and find one and hire someone who can? Or are we always going to be content to lose a few games shy of the big dance? Lots of organizations are...in all sports. The trick for this game is to give Allen enough time, and for him to have done enough homework, to be able to find the open man and throw him the football. Without taking too much time. When Josh can do that, we usually win by 20+ points. When Josh struggles doing that, we might lose, get blown out, or win a really scary close one. We have the better QB, by A LOT. Either our coaching staff can find a way to leverage that into a win, or they can't. Let's see what they do. I'll say this: switch starting QBs and there is NO WAY New England loses this game! I wish that were true for the Bills too. -
This is just the beginning with this, and it certainly won't be limited to the Bills. The SB champion will be largely decided by great luck with COVID this year. Without it, there's no way any team will win it all.

I don't think our window was ever fully open, but I also don't think it's now closed. The trick is to fill in all the gaps with replacement level players who work on the cheap, but are actually better than the other replacement players around them. That takes skill. I'm not sure Beane has it in him, but we are going to find out!

That's not correct; the idiot is not vaccinated. So he's out.

All Bills games, in ALL Bills seasons, stopped being about carefree fun and escapist entertainment for me a LONG TIME AGO. It's hard work following the ups and downs of this team, and overall, this season has proven to be more of a let down than an exclamation point. It's not over yet, though, and the game of the season is about to take place on Sunday. I wouldn't miss it for the world! But it's not about fun entertainment! It's much more than that. ...as they had toward another bottom 5 finish and an 11th season of missing the playoffs. But they are doing it with such heart!

The Bills have been multiple teams' "Superbowl"

25?! That's pretty darned old to not know how to drink! I was figuring it all out in 5th and 6th grade. LOL I've told this story before here, but in the early '90s I was at a game with beautiful weather early in the season. We were way up high in those side slab things. At some point relatively early on (2nd quarter maybe?) a guy FELL DOWN THE STAIRS while totally hammered. He bounced and thumped his way down with a sickening dull thud created by bone and muscle on concrete. Someone behind me shouted "Have another one, #######!" the crowd erupted into a laugh....the guy got up....had blood all over his bare arms and legs, continued to the exit, and was not seen again that game. True story.

Highmark Stadium Difference Between 100 and 300 Level Seats
Nextmanup replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have noticed a lot of people talking about the "standing problem" here over several years. I get the impression that most fans who attend the games in person think no one should be standing, like that violates basic, old school, rules on attending live sports games. If that is true (seems fair enough to me) the Bills organization needs to work much harder to remind people to sit down and that it's not nice to those behind you to stand, etc...and ushers need to be yelling at people during the game to sit down. They should also mention this on the public address system consistently. I think they can change fan behavior over time, except for huge plays of course where everyone jumps up on the spur of the moment. -
Bills at Patriots: Predict the Score
Nextmanup replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we win a close, tight, maybe even somewhat low scoring game. These 2 teams are statistically VERY similar right now, and we have the much better QB. If McDermott can't leverage Josh's inherent advantage into a win, I want a coach who can. -
NBC Boston: Bills are done, Pats make them lick dog *****

Right; they envy us because we lose more than they do and therefore are not detached. 🤪 -

These huge Bills vs. Patriots games are fantastic IMO. They are the only thing approaching what I'd call a true rivalry these days. And regardless of who wins on Sunday, don't be surprised to see the Patriots AGAIN in the first round of the playoffs. Tons of calculators have us playing them whether we win or lose on Sunday. A Round 1 playoff game against the Patriots would be great. -
This has been the position I wanted to see addressed more than anything the last year or 2. It would be great if Knox could keep developing into a truly elite #1 TE.

Covid may decide who wins the AFC east
Nextmanup replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just wrote on this point in a different thread. It's going to get worse and I will GUARANTEE you that the SB winner will be directly impacted by great luck with COVID. Having the right COVID luck is going to be as important as having the best QB, or coach, or getting on a winning streak at the right time, or luck with injuries, etc. It's going to decide the champion this year. -

Honestly, who cares? This stuff is designed to trigger those who are easily triggered...and it looks like it did a great job of it! It's hilarious how psychologically damaged this fanbase is by all things "New England." 😂 -
Right now, we are on the cusp of things getting out of control with COVID and omicron around the league. It's been building for a little while now, but mark my words! The Super Bowl (if there is one) will be decided in large part due to COVID and the luck the winning team has with it. And that assumes every team won't be impacted...which might not happen!

No officials actually at the game should EVER be involved in "reviewing" a play or call. That's a crazy and mickey mouse way to do it; and it's how the NFL always has done it, of course. It should ALL be coming from a panel of off-field professional reviewers who have all the TV screens in front of them etc. What they say goes. They are doing that now, from time to time, when calls get mysteriously reversed despite no challenge. It's fast and efficient.
-
LOL. Are we using the Federal rules of civil procedure here too?
-
Spend some time working with the playoff odds calculators. Some of us have been pointing out for weeks that even if we lose to Tampa AND THE PATRIOTS, we still have like a 87% chance of making the playoffs.
-
Since when can the booth reverse calls?
Nextmanup replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
For God's sake, get rid of ALL OF IT and go back to the old days. No replay, no review, no challenge, no nothing. Just spur of the moment calls coming from the field that everyone has to live with, and that's that. And sure, the officiating is HORRIBLE. So what? The system they have now is FAR from perfect and is filled with mistakes and subjective nuance anyway. -
I would say "OK" calling hockey games. Better than football for sure, but not fantastic. The ESPN guy I miss desperately from the hockey play-by-play world is Gary Thorne, who I believe is still calling Baltimore Orioles games. He was fantastic.
