Mike Bossy has lung cancer: Update: He has passed away
Nextmanup replied to Draconator's topic in Off the Wall
Alex Mogilny smoked--I saw him do it many times in bars around Buffalo. I also watched Theo Flery (another speedster) smoke in a bar after a Flames/Sabres game one night at a bar near the Aud. Obviously, you can smoke and still have elite speed. It's just a question of "mindset" that would prevent someone from doing it. Rob Ray over the years has told some great stories about Sasha (Alex Mogilny) telling Rob "you have to smoke to open your lungs" and he would do it before the game... He also once told Rob he had a cold/flu type bug and his method for defeating it was to drink vodka and sit in a sauna for a while---to "open the lungs" and what not. LOL He's one of my favorites of all time. For me, he is the #1 perfect epitome of the "finisher" that we wish everyone could be. A freak who had a natural knack for finding a way to get the puck in the net. Hockey IQ off the charts, immense natural skill, would be totally dominant in any era, especially now, when no one would likely lay a hand on him. The game is so much less physical now. He'd get right in close to the net and snipe away. -
NYC is, at the same time, arguably the best city in the world and the worst city in the world. That sums it up. There's no place quite like it, good or bad.

Bruce Willis retiring from acting diagnosed with Aphasia

He's 67 and a quick google search says he's worth $333 million...which sounds about right to me. Luckily, he doesn't need to work and can focus on his health for his remaining years. -
Hope Solo arrested DUI with two kids in her car

Sounds like she is an alcoholic. Hopefully she'll get some treatment about that. -
Wonderful night in Sabres history. RJ gets his banner raised to the rafters, great hockey game, incredible crowd participation, and we even get the win. I am wondering if, in the future, we will look back to tonight as the night the Sabres organization and the fanbase kissed and made up. I.E., normal big crowds for the rest of the season and to start next year as well. Let's hope!

Sad on a personal level, sure. For fans of the Senators? This will open the door to the possibility of change and improvement. For the last many years the only franchise as bad as the Sabres has been Ottawa.

Favorite and least favorite draft analysts

Kiper is an idiot...he is a good speaker and he deserves respect for his ability to memorize large amounts of data and then regurgitate it on screen (how he made his mark in the first place) but he doesn't have a clue. I always enjoyed Mike Mayock's commentary. He provides the knowledge and understanding to his comments that an amateur like Kiper completely lacks. -
By the looks of it, yes. It is HILARIOUS how out of touch the NFL has been, and how late something like this is... Eventually they'll wake up and put advertising on uniforms/helmets as well. I mention that on here every now and again...can't believe they are letting that revenue stream float by...

I said the rule was ridiculous and needed to change, and that I thought it well might change after our game this year. And then a horde of responders laughed and said "sore loser" and so on... Well, they changed it. Told you so...

I agree. What verifies that it was real is the shocked reaction Rock had after the slap but even more so, after the shouting from off-stage. Particularly when he started to say something like "I could make such a great joke right now embarrassing you to no end" but decided discretion is the better part of valor. Also notice that when Rock was slapped, there is a very loud "boom" sound on the microphone that Rock was obviously wearing somewhere...there was definitely contact there. Smith was laughing quite clearly at the "GI Jane" joke as well! I assume his wife gave him a dirty look or something like that and he then snapped.

The Buffalo Bills are the best team in the NFL
Nextmanup replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
We could beat every team in the league last year already...and very well may have, had our coaching staff not pissed away a sure win in KC. -
This story is so "Rich Stadium" it would be hilarious, if it wasn't so sad. Classlessness and that stadium go together like ham and eggs.

No franchise in the NFL shouts "boredom" quite like the Detroit Lions. Well, maybe the Chicago Bears...but this is still a curious choice. The show is so well done though I'll be watching anyway, and probably enjoying it. It all depends on the specific individuals they focus on, and if Detroit has some funny/intelligent/interesting characters on the team. Who knows, they well might.

The 1980 AFC East winning season is the first real season of Bills football I remember and feel like I am familiar with. I was 9. Can still name pretty much the entire starting roster from memory. Though I have to admit, I have no real memory of this game in particular! LOL

I wonder if he has a clue as to what he's wearing! I bet not. -
Chris Rock is emerging from this in a hell of a lot better shape than Will Smith. Although, seriously, who the hell cares about any of it?! LOL

You don't draft a guard in the 1st ... or do you?
Nextmanup replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall
The way things have unfolded thus far, I would like to see us take a CB with the first pick, not a Guard. Although the OL should still remain a priority moving forward. -
I would imagine the space will be cost apportioned in a different manner. So fewer seats, but nicer seats with more amenities at much greater prices--and critically---way, way more luxury suites or tiers of luxury suites. I.E., fewer seats but more revenue.

I said from the beginning these idiots--all of them--would not put a new stadium downtown where it should be. Buffalo is gonna always remain Buffalo. 👎
