Jon Feliciano's take on KC playoff game
Nextmanup replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good for him! He told it the way he sees it. You don't have to agree with it; that's how this works. Would you prefer him to say nothing in a few sound bytes of idiotic athlete-speak? -
Insights into McDermott team-building philosophy
Nextmanup replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's common among coaches; largely because a lot of them don't really have proper educations of their own, so they read books on the topic. I had to laugh a year or so ago when McDermott started talking about the "Kaizen" work model--which is a trite thing that was bashed around the business school community in the 1980s when the Japanese started taking over the auto industry. I wouldn't be surprised to hear him quote Sun Tzu's "Art of War" at some point. -
A very interesting move indeed. Always been a big fan of his. Fahrenheit 451 and the Martian Chronicles are some of my favorites.

Wouldn't have to be zero. Anything less than 1 is "less than 1." Like .75 for example. Or .9937, or tons of other values.

I am not, in particular, a fan of Johnny Depp's acting. But historically, if you look at some of the best actors, they are absolutely 100% batshit nuts. I think that is what allows them to be great actors. My vote for straight up best actor of all time probably goes to Marlon Brando. And he was 100% crazy. Just a really weird guy. It's where they find their ability to act...which done well, really has nothing to do with "acting". The best "actors" don't act, they "become."

I think this is her! And "YES". "Wrong side of 25" LOL That's cute! You must be young.

Crazy game in Calgary last night. Lucic can't find a dance partner! Kassian needs to step up and answer the call in game 2.

Research "work for hire" on the internet. It's a very common party of copyright law; if the artist wants access to the music they create, they shouldn't sign an agreement saying they are willing to create work for others, for their use, in exchange for money.

McDermott is the weakest link in this chain. Has been for some time.

First ever Buffalo home game- MNF against Titans
Nextmanup replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it's just a case of people wanting to suggest they "know better" and have the "inside scoop" on where the *really* good wings are. I was visiting family in Seattle some years ago, and saw the fish market where they famously throw the fish around. My cousin's husband (Seattle native) had to go out of his way to tell me "real people in Seattle" don't go there or consider it the best fish market in town---that was another one which he named. It's the same phenomenon as the wing thing in Buffalo. -
I think there is a contingent out there that would say the GOAT is Peyton Manning, despite the lack of SB titles. When I was a lot younger, the unanimous choice for GOAT was Joe Montana. But that's changed now. I agree *most* people would go with Tom Brady. He'd be my choice as well, even if I hate the guy.

Starting in 2023, games can be flexed to MNF
Nextmanup replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
It should be; not sure how that could be pulled off though. -
He's never been, and is never going to be, an above average in-game decision maker. Whether that holds the team back from winning it all or not remains to be seen. As I keep writing when these types of threads come up, the day WILL come when he has to get it done, or else he should be gone. Is that day THIS YEAR? Probably not.
-
The thing to remember with these pre-season schedule assessments is that you (and me and everyone else) are basing their estimates on what teams looked like LAST year and not THIS year. Some good teams that would provide a tough game last year will not be so this year. Which ones no one knows. Some bad teams last year which would be an easy out will turn things around this year and give us really tough games. Who they are (right now) no one knows. Then there are ALWAYS the games we should win but lose, and the games we should lose but win. It will be a week to week struggle/battle just as it always is, and it is NEVER as easy as it looks on paper.

Hmmm. He said he urinated into the ice cream mix for "sexual gratification." That's weird.

Is that a pro-stick shift/anti-paddle shifter comment? 🤔

(Rumor) Drew Brees hinting at a comeback
Nextmanup replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
His rate of degradation is nothing like as bad as it was with Big Ben. Ben should have been gone at least a full season earlier than he left... I think it is arguable that Brees can still play, though not at his peak career level. He's well beyond that now. -
So we can all agree "this is horrible." But what can we all agree to do about this? This happens twice a week in this country! And we never--as a society--do a THING about it! We love this stuff! It's America's new national pastime! Screw baseball! We love mass shootings. I see big time politicians talking about this RIGHT NOW on CNN.... You know what will be done? NOTHING! Get ready to be sickened by the next one, too! 🤝

And when you might be in the situation of having to react and not anticipate, needing to make up ground from behind...which a defender needs to do! Yeah, you just can't fake speed, and if you don't have a lot of it, you have no place on a modern NFL football field!
