What should define a "rookie" or "veteran" on TBD?
MJS replied to buffalostu2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some of us don't mind AND don't matter. I'm just here to make jokes and argue about football. You're a curiosity, that's for sure. -
Darnold looked pretty decent his first couple of years, in my opinion. He definately struggled last year, but his first couple years he showed a lot of good stuff and showed good development. Before last season there were still plenty of people willing to claim that Darnold was better than Allen and that he would have a better career than Allen. One season completely changed the narrative. I think Darnold can be a good QB still. But it is NOT going to be for the Jets.

I watch every game. Unless I have a conflict and have to miss one. But I really try to watch them all. Beat that... -
Would Josh Allen ever consider a team friendly contract?
MJS replied to sirebors's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But that's just a guess like all the other numbers people have thrown out. -

This would probably not be the year we see a deal like that given that the cap just went down. -

I have a hunch he will sign a team friendly deal. But who knows? Maybe if Beane offers him a big signing bonus and a fully gauarenteed contract he would sign a lower per average deal. -
Maybe the extra game this season puts him up over 650, but I would have bet the under for sure in previous seasons.

Hyde, you mean?

Ryan Bates has eye on starting role [paywall]
MJS replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have the exact same opinion. He has done well every time he has gotten on to the field. He is versatile and can line up at different spots. He just looks like a quality lineman to me. Granted, it's a pretty small sample size. The coaches know him way better than any of the fans do. I just know he'll get a starting gig for another team at some point if he doesn't get a shot here. -
3rd easiest schedule next year according to Mike Clay
MJS replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Compared to last year it is undoubtedly easier. But you still need to go out and win the games. -

No doubt he is extremely well respected, and for good reason, but he is respected for his past contributions, not his present contributions. I personally don't care for what he writes these days. I read a lot better material on NFL.com from the likes of Daniel Jeremiah or Bucky Brooks.

NFL.com Power Rankings: Post-Free Agency (Bills stay at #4)
MJS replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there is a case that could be made for 3rd. But I don't see an issue in ranking Green Bay ahead of the Bills. -
Free Agency next year is going to be crazy
MJS replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it will be similar. There will essentially be double the free agents, but not double the money to spend. I think it will take a couple years for the free agency pool to find equilibrium. -
Should we sign Matt Breida? "No way! That guy is overrated, always injured, and couldn't crack the starting lineup in Miami!" *Bills sign Matt Breida* "Oh, I love the move! He's fast and the Dolphins were dumb to not play him more!" Two Bills Drive, everyone...

Baltimore has been pretty competitive for a long time. I guess it makes sense. Same with Pittsburgh. I suppose both teams have earned the benefit of the doubt. -
I was confused at how little playing time he got in Miami. I expected him to be their lead back. Let's hope we use him more in Buffalo.

I'd bet Packers fans would say the opposite. I'm not sure there is a way to differentiate the two besides just personal bias. -
Maybe others feel differently, but I have not been impressed with Gil Brandt as a writer or NFL analyst. I know he has a good history in the league, but his writing always seems pretty superficial to me. And I highly doubt he puts in the time for film study that he once did. But, that's just my impression. I could be wrong.

Has the media been blaming WR's to excuse Jackson? I don't know if I have seen that. I thought it was pretty well established that Jackson does not have a big arm and struggles throwing the ball outside the numbers.

Haha, I don't think it will translate that way in the win/loss column. But if they are forced to stick with Tua, that will get him more experience and decrease the time it takes for him to become an effective QB (if he ever does). Benching him all the time for Fitzpatrick didn't do him any favors. They should have just sat him for the year to learn behind Fitzpatrick. -

Interesting. Chargers push for the AFC West? I still think they are a year away from that, at least. I think the Chiefs will still be a juggernaut this year. I thought Baltimore and Pittsburgh were ranked too high as well. Baltimore lost a lot of good players. Big Ben is practically a mummy.
