Jets' draft ammo is crazy right now
MJS replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have talked about how much draft capital the Browns have had for like half the past decade. And only last year did they finally break their own post season drought. So maybe in 5 years the Jets will have gotten somewhere. Or, they'll still be looking for their QB like they have for the past 50 years. -
They haven't played a game and already they are turning the corner?

Who is the one player you DON’T want the Bills to draft @30
MJS replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Prepare to be disappointed. I have a feeling McDermott and Beane are not going to give up premium assets for a running back. But I could be wrong. We'll see what happens. -

Oh, I'm totally fine with being back with Singletary and Moss, with the addition of Breida. I think the oline needs to be better at run blocking. And we have a passing offense. Singletary and Moss both showed they were good at pass blocking last year. -

Well I agree about CB and I think there is a large chance the Bills take one high. But I do not want to see a RB taken that high, personally. -

I think this is the least I have ever been interested in the draft. No glaring holes,we have a QB, and we don't pick till 30. So Beane can take whoever he wants, in my book. I think getting the 5th year option is a reason to not trade out of the 1st round. But I would have totally done the deal that Miami did to trade down to 12 and get a bunch of future 1st round picks. -
Rondale Moore.....trade down and snag this monster.

Hmm. I don't think our defense was actually bad. It struggled early on and then got way better later on. -

Drafting a WR with our first pick is not how I'd want the draft to go. CB, edge rusher, or oline, pease. WR is one of our strongest positions. -
The last time the Bills picked at #30 in the draft...
MJS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd say it reads pretty accurately. That's exactly what it says. -

Yeah, and it was actually a good one, unlike most of their commercials. -
Isaiah McKenzie is VERY busy! He'll call you back!

Tre White is just the best. -
Christian Wade granted a third exemption year

You act like this is a slave contract and Wade has no say in the matter. -
Which QB do you want the Jets to draft?
MJS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll be happy if they don't take Wilson. I like Wilson and want to see him succeed. And if he goes to the Jets I'll have to root against him, and/or he might have his career ruined by them. -
No teams actually follow BPA. Some follow it within reason. For instance, if a QB is the top player on your board in round 1 and you are the Bills, you would be foolish to take that player. So yes, you violate the BPA philosophy and look at other players. And it's the same for other positions too, but less so. So the true philosophy is BPA within reason, considering positional value, scheme fit, etc.

An article is basically just a short synopsis of what actually happened. There is no way for them to list everything that happens and all details. They include enough to tell the story and provide relevant details. So there is probably a lot more to the story that the journalist knows, and even more to the story that they weren't able to completely uncover, or they found to be less interesting to the overall narrative.

Increased 17th game increases revenue. The salary cap is tied to a certain percentage of total revenues. So the cap increases. This means players will get paid more, likely the elite players like franchise QB's, while bottom of the roster guys still make the same amount. That's actually the part about it I am unhappy about. We'll see more inflated stats and many of the existing records will be broken more easily, diminishing what players did before. But this has happened when games were added in the past as well.

Do the Bills have "their guy" picked out?
MJS replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope not. I hope they have picked 10 or 15 guys, because there is no telling who they will be able to pick. They just need to follow their draft board. Pick the guy with the best value who has the potential to help the team. -
What do you think of these Bills concept helmets?
MJS replied to Seoulofstone's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are the logos always so oversized in all these concept helmets? I don't like any of them. -
I just wouldn't have that be a part of the evaluation process at all. You still do your due diligence into their character and off the field demeanor. I don't think opting out shows anything that would not be dug up during your normal evaluation process.
-
I do think that is unfair. But you have to freedom to believe how you want.
-
I just don't think it is wise to make judgements on players who opted out, even if they were perfectly healthy and had no underlying conditions. We were dealing with a worldwide pandemic. It's perfectly natural for many of those players to be scared and uncertain about what playing would mean. And how would you determine which guys just wanted a free pass and which ones had legitimate concerns, as if anyone falls neatly into those buckets anyway? To me, that just comes down to intelligence. If a guy is dumb enough to say he sat out because of his draft value, and posted about that on social media, or other selfish concerns, you pass on that guy because he is an idiot, not because he is selfish. Because if those are the true reasons, you lie and just say you did it because of health and family concerns.
