The Dolphins quick turnaround? They were 10-6 in 2020, 9-8 in 2021. You are acting like they were devoid of talent and rebuilt their team. They have been this team for a few years now. They just went through an insanely easy period of their schedule. Let's see how the season goes before we make any bold statements about the Dolphins. And even if they make the playoffs and go on a decent run, there is nothing quick about their turnaround. This is year 4 of their rebuild.

Davis hasn't progressed as much as we all (including Greg Cossell) projected. Crowder is a good slot receiver, but he is injured. So yeah, outside of Diggs we do just have a bunch of guys at receiver. But Knox is a good TE. Singletary is a decent back and Cook is progressing. The offense is not devoid of talent. As for the oline, yeah, there are some issues. But it is a serviceable oline. The Bengals just went to the superbowl with a worse oline.

Well, you never know. New injuries can and do happen. Just have to see how it goes. But it is also possible they can get healthy. Strange that we are to the point with injuries that we are EXCITED to only have Hyde and Miller out. The last couple of years we would have been really nervous if we were missing two players on defense of that caliber. This year it is the healthiest we have been for a very long time.

It is all just a trickle down effect of the injuries. Tre White was out, which made Dane Jackson our #1. Hyde and Poyer have been out/hurt, which puts more backups on the field. Elam and Benford have been hurt, forcing even more backups on the field. Edmunds and Milano have taken turns missing games, putting more backups and more stress on the passing defense. And pass rushers have been hurt, which puts even more stress because the secondary has to cover for longer. This leads to the coaches trying to scheme differently to cover all the new player deficiencies and also the backups are not capable of doing all the things the starters are, and that eventually trickles down to Johnson having to account for a lot more and is asked to do a lot more, such as more man coverage and less help from the linebackers and safeties. Even one injury to a starter has a trickle down effect on all the other positions. If half the starters are out, that ripple effect is compounded each time. You can only do so much to cover it up. Backups are backups for a reason. Good depth is nice, nut not when half of your defensive depth is now asked to start. Really, we just need to get the defense healthy and all this stuff will fix itself.

Impending Bills Roster Shenanigans: You be the GM
MJS replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hard for fans to make any of these determinations without knowing the health and fitness of each individual player. Ike is good depth, so idealy you would get him back ASAP. Benford and Crowder as well, although we have no idea where Crowder is in his rehab. But I would have a lot more confidence in the offense if we got him back, especially for the playoffs. I don't care about Stevenson. He hasn't done anything. -
Nope. It went straight to the dome fund.

Adding a bunch of nobodies and cast-offs. I'm shaking in my boots.

What Happened After Halftime of the Packers Game?
MJS replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it started with overconfidence. Josh stopped taking the easy throws and started looking for only the big throws. Once he threw a lot of INT's and actually lost the team a couple of games, it hurt his confidence and he is working his way back from that. Plus, the elbow injury. As for the team as a whole? Injuries caught up to them. Their depth held for awhile, but now there is significant film on all our backups, and they are backups for a reason. -
I mean, there are plenty, honestly. Jefferson, Hopkins, Kelce, Adams, etc are all capable of making that catch. They've all had big catches in big moments like that, including some against the Bills. But absolutely it was a great route and a great catch and a great competitive play from Diggs. I think the moment of it was the most impressive thing. Diggs has had more impressive catches than that with the Bills. Plenty more. But what sets this one apart is how NEEDED it was at the time. Big time players show up in those big time moments.

Allen was in his slump before the elbow injury. I'm sure the elbow is affecting him, but his problem had been decision-making before the injury. Now, he needs to piece back together his confidence plus deal with the elbow. But I'm sure he'll be just fine on both accounts in a couple of weeks.

Romo has no bias against the Bills. That is a laughable claim.
-
Opponents sure complete a lot more passes when Edmunds is not playing.
-
Fans just fell victim to the classic training camp / preseason hype of a late round rookie.
-
Let's just forfeit now, then.

From where we are standing, what is your measure for a successful season.
MJS replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is really only one success and that is winning the Superbowl. Sure, there are teams that are viewed as "rebuilding" and you can point to, perhaps, a winning record and say that is a successful season. The Giants, for instance. For a team like the Bills, there are no moral victories. Either you win the Superbowl or you don't. There will be some disappointment if that doesn't happen. -
Joe Marino of Locked on Bills speaks often about missed tackle percentages and the Bills were excellent the first few weeks, then regressed back to bad again. The Bills have had one of the higher rates lf missed tackles the past few years. As far as individual players, basically all of the defenders have a poor rate except Tremaine Edmunds. He was the only one below 10%, unless something changed the past couple of weeks. Milano has always had a pretty high rate of missed tackles. I don't have the numbers myself, or I would post them. But it is a stat that is tracked and can be found. The Bills under Sean McDermott have always had a poor tackling defense (despite being so strong in other areas). All the starters have poor tackle rates as well. I'm not sure why. I don't think it is as simple as saying it is all on coaching. I know McDermott hammers and practices fundamentals. It just might be one of those things where most of our defensive players happen to have the same weakness. Could be an inherent flaw in the scheme. Not sure.
-
Be careful what you wish for. I don't see how you can go through each off season and see all the garbage coaches hired each year that inevitably suck horribly and get fired after one or two years and still think we should take our chance at that lottery. McDermott is a great coach. The team is where it is at because of him. He started it all.
-
His stats are decent because Josh Allen force feeds him the ball. But he drops the ball at one of the highest rates in the league and has not been good in contested catch situations. Last year he was much better at both of those, so we know he can do it. I like him, but he needs to improve.
-
At some point as a corner in this league you need to learn how to get your head around and make a play on the ball. That's what he is missing. I don't fault him on that crazy Jefferson catch where he had a hand on the ball, but Jackson usually plays the man and he needs to play the ball more. Seems obvious to me that this was the plan all along. It can't be a coincidence that Tre comes back EXACTLY one year after the injury. They decided to keep him out a full year, ramp him up the final few games of the season, and have him full go for the playoffs. (Just my opinion)
-
Because there are legitimately fans who hate McDermott. They are the worst types, but they exist. They hate him no matter what the team does. Why do you watch? You seem to hate it.
