Bruce Arians steps down - moves to Front Office
MJS replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Has to be health related, right? Arians looked like he could barely handle it last year. His health is not good at all. -
Receiving more targets is another indication of good play. 2020 was his best year. Period. It's not true that he had been regressing since 2019. I will agree that he has had two years of injury issues, though.

And then you drive down and score to tie it up, then give the ball back to the other team to go win it. That's the problem. The 3rd possession is the possession where you can win it. I know people are bringing up 2 point conversions, but those are low percentage plays. Get the ball first. Go score. The other team gets it. Stop them from scoring, or even if they do score, you have the next possession to go win the game. If you want to bring 2 point conversions into it, fine, but it is just as easy for the first team to try it as the 2nd team.

I thought it was common knowledge that he was playing injured most of the season last year, and I do remember it being rib injuries. That's why he would catch the ball and go down before contact, unlike previous seasons where he would fight for extra yeards. I have no idea about the injury reports, though.

I grew up in the drought years and that's basically what I knew. But I was still influenced by the 90's teams. They were legends for me. Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas, etc. I'd go back and watch highlights and look at stats. I couldn't wait for the team to get good again and have another run like that. So, even though I was too young to appreciate the 90's team when that was happening (I was born in 1989), I sure gained that appreciation later. That being said, I am a fan because of my dad. He grew up in the Buffalo area and passed that fandom on to me. That's how it works for 99% of Bills fans.

Peter King trolls Miami fan's expectations following Tyreek trade
MJS replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills aren't going to sweep Miami for the rest of time. At some point, Miami is going to beat the Bills once. Maybe it's this year, maybe it's not. But the Bills are the better team by far at this point. -
FYI: Josh Allen #3 in NFL QB Index. Featured on NFL Network 3/30
MJS replied to jkeerie's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hate Greg Rosenthal. He had Josh Allen ranked pretty low all season long, and had some ridiculous rankings higher on his list. Now that the nation has a Josh Allen craze, he decided to rank him higher. He is just a nerd who thinks he is smarter than everyone else. -
There aren't two. It's the same city, but since it is on the border, the city has portions on both sides.

You will never see a team choose to kick ever unless it is an extreme weather game and direction is more important. I'm having trouble following your logic. If you take the ball and score, you can then prevent the other team from scoring to win the game, or if they do score, you have the first try at a sudden death score to win the game. If you kick the ball, your opponent can go score, and then the pressure is on you to match them. Even if you do match them, you then give them the first shot of a sudden death score to win. No team is ever, ever going to take that risk. I believe it's because of the stats. If you look at the regular season overtime numbers, getting the ball first gives you only a small advantage, and usually the team doesn't win on that first possession. It usually takes multiple possessions to win. The numbers are a lot different in the playoffs. The coin toss winner has a considerable advantage. I'm guessing this is because in the playoffs you have much higher instances of elite QB's and offenses in general. So, I bet they are fine with the slight advantage in the regular season, but felt like they needed to do something to take away the considerable advantage in the playoffs.

No, because if both teams score, whoever has the third possession can go win the game with a TD or field goal. You want that third possession, so you take the ball first.
-
Ok. Whatever. It's honestly no different. The defense still has to make a stop at some point.

Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal
MJS replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
So glad they got this done. There were a lot of fans here saying it was fine if we lost him, and I did not agree at all. I wanted him back. Beane's commitment to keep him confirms my own thoughts about him. He is a solid player and can develop into a good starter. -
I want that too.

I think it is premature to label the Bills the best team in the NFL just yet, personally. But it is great that the Bills are even in that conversation. It's what I have been waiting for my entire life, actually. I'm in my early 30's, so the last time the Bills were good was when I was too young to really understand. Don't worry. You are wrong.

Yeah, there were always naysayers. Even halfway through 2020 there were naysayers (by now, most of them have transferred their ire to McDermott). But most fans noticed the great things that Allen could do even from year 1. And most got on board with him as the Bills starting QB after not too long. The question was always how much of his limitless potential he would actually be able to attain, and that was the unknown at the time. Would Josh Allen just develop into a solid starter for many years but never get over the hump, or would he be able to truly become elite? We all saw the potential, but Allen had to put in the work to achieve it. I haven't seen a single person claim that it was obvious that Allen would make a massive jump in year 3. His jump surprised all of us. We expected more steady improvement, and we got a lot more than we expected. But anyone who watched Allen had to notice the potential even from his rookie year. That's why a lot of Bills fans spent so many endless hours defending Allen and trying to make people see him for who he was when the going narrative was that Allen was just a big running QB who was inaccurate and inconsistent.

Tua is not a good QB and he never will be. He may be a good backup one day, though. Have you seen a single thing from him, even a single play, that made you think he could one day be an elite player? I certainly haven't. It doesn't mean the Dolphins can't be a good team with him. They can. But it sure makes it tough to get through the playoffs without an elite QB.

9 months isn't worst case. That is faster than the average recovery of 10 months. Fans need to just accept the fact that Tre White is going to miss some time.

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
MJS replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even if the Dolphins are now on an even playing field, as claimed (which is ridiculous, of course) why does it mean that the Dolphins will sweep the Bills? Wouldn't that mean, at best, that they would split wins? I'm not naive enough to think that the Bills are going to continue to sweep the Dolphins every single year. The Dolphins are going to beat the Bills at some point, and maybe this year they do, but it's ridiculous to claim they are are as good as or better than the Bills. No knowing what happens to you if you fall asleep in Miami. -
It's a fifth year option. Unless they trade him, there's nothing you can do with that, I'm pretty sure.

I mean, should we poll NFL coaches and ask them if an elite gunner provides value to their team? What do you think they would say?
