I said 8 to 10. I think he will be playing a lot fewer snaps for the Bills during the regular season than he had been playing for previous teams. The Bills will want to keep him healthy for the playoffs.

Sure. I don't think Star has had his heart in it either, though. And ultimately, it is up to the player to perform and be available. Prove that you are worth the contract you negotiated. Star did not do that. Yes, it was a bad contract, though. The Bills were still a poor team and felt like they needed to overpay to get Star here to be a part of that rebuild, to be an anchor on the dline. We are past that as a team, now.

Star opted out for a year. He then held out till the end of training camp. He has had multiple injuries and illnesses and hasn't been available. He has also been a healthy inactive a couple times, and even when he played his snap counts diminished. I don't think Beane and McDermott are too excited by him being on the team anymore. Yes, I am guessing. But they just went out and signed three defensive tackles. And they have drafted a couple since he has been here too. They've clearly been trying to upgrade for awhile and now have finally done it. We can expect him to be cut.

I think the linebackers will benefit a lot too.

Yes, but they were manufactured from blitzing more, which makes the defense weaker in other areas. I think we will get a lot more sacks and pressures from four man rushes.

I don't view it as a low risk. I view it as a medium risk. Bates is a good player. But if we lose him, we lose him. We'll survive. But we can expect the guard position to continue to be a problem.

Tre White will probably miss some games at the beginning of the season. For sure CB is a big priority right now. But McDermott likes to make it work with value signings and draft picks.

We've had a revolving door at both guard positions for years now. I think it is more difficult to find competent online play than you think.

Yes, he is. He has shown flashes his entire time here. Every time he has filled in for someone he has done a good job. Then, when he had the chance to start he did very well. He's a solid starter at least.
