Draft may be postponed until May
CLTbills replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was NASCAR's plan until people much more powerful stepped in. They were planning on being the only event on TV. It was gonna be like shooting fish in a barrel. A hundred race teams got to Atlanta and were then told to go home once the Government got involved. -
That's why they did the restructure. so that if he doesn't perform well, they can without the cap hit. That's the entire point.

What if he doesn't?

I know it sounds cliche, but one day at a time man. Get through today without a smoke. Wake up tomorrow, and get through that day without a smoke. Lather, rinse, repeat. Don't think of it as a long-term thing. Get through the day that you have in front of you without one. Before you know it, you'll be a month, then six months, then a year smoke-free. You can do it man!!!

While I don't exactly disagree with you, that's a bit of a misleading statement. The owners don't individually bring in "billions." One report I read used the Green Bay Packers as an example. In 2018, the NFL earned $8.1 Billion in national revenue, meaning each team got about $255 million of that. Then, you get your local revenue (in this case, for the Packers, it was $196 million) which brought their total revenue, not profit, to $455 million. Of that, $213 million went to players, another $208 million to "stadium upkeep, marketing, and team and administrative costs." This left them with an operating income of $38.5 million. A far cry from the "billions" that you claim they bring in. Sure, other teams may bring in more, and maybe the Packers did a big stadium upgrade that year. But the point is, if an owner has invested, like Mr. Pegula, $1.4 BILLION of his own money to buy a team, why shouldn't he want to make a return on that investment? $38.5 million a year is a pretty crappy return for a year on a billion and a half dollar investment, if you ask me. He'd have to own the team for over 36 years at that rate to break even on that investment. And yes, I understand that the value of the team will increase (and already has) over time, but that's not cash in his pocket until he sells the team. I don't blame the owners, if they're only making that much, for wanting to try to retain a bit more. That'd be like you or me investing $14,000 in the stock market and only getting a return of $385 for the year.

Where Would CJ Spiller Go In 2020?
CLTbills replied to Flip Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was me as well. I remember getting the notification, as I wasn't able to watch the draft live... and that's the reason I was so pissed. Not because he wasn't a good player, but because having the backfield we already had, it was an unnecessary pick. -
nothing more than a training camp depth player at this point

Super Bowl Menu: The Most Important Thread of the Year
CLTbills replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah we had our neighbors/friends and their kids over. their kids are best buddies with my son. But the weather here in Charlotte was BEAUTIFUL yesterday, and the kids played hard outside all day... My 4 year old son was super tired and had a similar epic meltdown rage at about 7:00. So that was the end of that ? -
Super Bowl Menu: The Most Important Thread of the Year

Kept it simple. 5 lbs of chicken wings on the Big Green Egg, and my neighbor that came over made a couple pounds of candied bacon on his. Didn't really go all out. had to miss the entire 2nd quarter anyway putting the little one to bed. Super Bowl Sunday with small children is definitely different. -
I really don't understand the Flutie hate. I was fairly young (8-10 years old) when Flutie was having his great seasons in Buffalo, so I'm sure I wasn't as plugged in to what went on off the field.... But I've always liked the guy. I'd be interested to read about it, if someone has articles/documentation about whatever went on.

Antonio Brown: Apology Tour - Preparing for return?
CLTbills replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With Beane and McDermott at the helm, we won't. -
My wife is an avid runner, and just ran the Disney half marathon last weekend. The week before we left for Disney, she was telling me that she was pissed off because these special "compression socks" that she had ordered from a particular company hadn't come in yet. People, when they do Disney runs, dress up in a particular theme, and these were a particular color blue, because she was going to do a "Frozen"/"Olaf" theme. Next morning, on MY Facebook page, an ad popped up for this compression socks company, and it was for THE EXACT SAME PAIR OF SOCKS THAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT. Same color, everything. Alexa is about to get tossed in the street.

The Rooney Rule (still) isn’t working?
CLTbills replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the end of the day, you can't tell me that an NFL owner is going to deny the job (or refuse to hire) a coach who is more qualified, and has a better shot at leading their team to a Super Bowl than a less qualified one, simply because of color. (Almost) every owner in this thing is here to win. That should be (and I think is) the number one driving factor. -
Tom brady not retiring according to himself
CLTbills replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, but anyone can see that Brady has begun to decline. Manning, at that point, hadn't. Once the age decline starts, there is no stopping it, and certainly no reversing it.
