To be fair there are only so many good Quarterbacks in the league, as such you could do that for every team. Saying "while Mahomes was struggling" is a bit of a misnomer as well. You're putting all the onus on Mahomes, rather than saying that the Bills actually did a good job against him. Despite having a down year Mahomes is still going to make the Pro Bowl in the AFC, and remains one of the top five players at his position. In comparison the Pats have beat Zach Wilson, Davis Mills, Ryan Tannehill, Herbert, Mayfield, Alllen, Matt Ryan, and Sam Darnold. Would you call that a murderers row? How many top 5 QBs have they beat? Two? They've also lost to Jameis Winston and Tua. Bottom line is its a week to week league, and the games are hard to win. There are no sure things, and five weeks from now the Bills could be in a completely different place.

Meanwhile if you wait until the end of the season you end up having to pay more because of the cap increase and the extension of other players at the position. If the Ravens want to extend Lamar, they will have to give him more than what Josh was given. If they dont give him the contract you also have to go through a whole season of having to answer questions about "whether Josh is your guy" or "when will the contract get done." Not doing it, when it was inevitable would have been incredibly stupid.

The guy does nothing well except fill out a Uniform. People are obsessed with his size and speed metrics, and it gets in the way of reality when it comes to his play. I heard an excellent point about him on the radio this morning. Everyone remarks on his age, he is only 23 etc. However, his age doesnt change the fact he has played in over 50 NFL games. The guy is who he is. He can make tackles sideline to sideline as long as he is 100% clean from blockers. The idea that he is somehow good in zone coverage blows my mind as well. He is often out of his zone because he gets fooled easily by play action. Good leader, below average football player and there is no way in heck the Bills should be looking to pay him 12-13 million dollars a year.

The third year leap had a lot to do about making the talent around him a ton better. Not to mention he came into the league with Rick Dennison as his Offensive Coordinator. Mahomes came into the league with a historically great offensive head coach, and loads of talent to throw to. It is incredible to me that you think Beane and McDermott have made a series of bad moves, when they are the only GM and HC pairing that have been successful in Buffalo in 20 years. Its also incredible to me that you think giving Allen who is a top ten player at his position an extension was a bad move. Winning in the NFL is incredibly hard, winning a Super Bowl is next to impossible. I think your takes have a lot more to do about current emotions, than actual reality.

He hasnt taken a step backwards and his contract isnt the richest deal in history. His stats are on par what he did last year and Mahomes contract is bigger than his. But go ahead and ignore actual facts on your way to buy a Murray jersey.

Youre always first in line to criticize the guy. The contract was a no brainer. Guy doesnt panic because the game is close. He runs for his life half the time and has to make plays out of nothing. At this point he may as well throw hinself the ball.

The Bills skill position players are overrated. Outside of Diggs they dont have another killer in the Tight End, Running Back or wideout group. Beasley and Sanders are at the end of their careers and Knox is a product of playing in an offense with Josh Allen. They dont have one player outside of Allen who can change a game. Not being able to have a skill player turn a small gain into a long gain with just their ability is a huge issue on this offense and it needs to change or they will literally waste one of the best QB talents in the league.

He is worst in the league among active coaches. Needs to fire his consultants.
