Phillip Rivers retiring
thenorthremembers replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree to a point. His numbers are more in the Marino range when talking about players with no rings. I think he will get in before those big stat guys retire and are considered. He may not be first ballot, but should get in on the 2nd or 3rd try. -

He should be in the Hall of Fame. Top five in both passing yards and touchdowns, more than Marino and Elway in both categories. -
Yeah I dont get it either. So many more ways to save money than cutting good players. Thats the Whaley way of doing things, and over time it gets you in cap jail. I think it makes a lot more sense to draft well, and then move players when its clear the younger players are better. In the case of Brown and Morse, they dont have better players, so the millions they may save isnt equal to the impact of having less talent on your team. The smarter way of doing things is restructuring existing contracts to free up cap space. With guys like Hyde coming up on the last year of his contract the Bills would be better off extending him, and moving more of his contract into 2022 and 2023 when the cap is higher. Thank God we have an intelligent group in the front office now.

You resign both Feliciano and Williams, and let Boettger and Ford compete for the LG spot. Boettger is a RFA this year, so you get him back on a cheap contract and use whoever loses the competition as your swing guard. To date Ford has shown absolutely no ability to play RT in the NFL. If he cant beat out a guy who was on the practice squad at one point for the LG spot, he sits his butt on the bench until his contract is up.

Didnt seem to change much tonight.

Brees officially retiring post June 1st will save them 25 million. I think what you'll see is a lot of teams adding years to current players contracts and moving a lot of the money to the later years where the cap is higher. I fully expect the Bills to reup Diggs, Hughes, and Hyde this offseason. Resigning Feliciano, Williams, and Milano but then paying less of their contracts in the 1st year. Williams should be somewhere around 4/40million, but expect him to only get 5 the first year with a higher roster bonus. The Saints have some work to do, but they will get there, teams always do. Look at KC.

So the Lamar excuses start????
thenorthremembers replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My favorite Collinsworth line from last night was "its throws like that which so you Lamar is a great pocket passer." Lamar is a good football player buts lets stop pretending he is a great passer. He does it differently and thats great because he wins doing it. I dont know why its so necessary for Lamar fans to try and prove he does it the same way. -

Kinda reaching here. Its not like I am suggesting he wants to hire his best friend who now manages a Jim Steakout. -
The End of the Lamar Jackson Era

Meanwhile Schoop thinks they need better wideouts. They dont run real plays!!! Everything is a scramble drill. -

Jimmy Garoppolo headed back to the Patriots?

Weren't most people under this impression? Seems like an obvious move. Cam Newton set throwing a football back 60 years in 2020. -
Jets hire Robert Saleh as HC

I think its kind of an easy decision. He has had three years and has been oft injured and has shown his arm strength is kind of an issue. I get that he has had bad coaching, but watching Sam throw an out is an ugly mess. I would do everything I could to trade him as a post June 1st designation, draft a new QB and sign a real veteran QB to start for now. -

I am, and have been convinced that Daboll is going to LA. This idea that Teleseco and Daboll, went to the same high school two years apart, both played football but never spoke is ridiculous. -

Have a feeling that is Pep Hamilton's job all the way. Unless the Dolphins intend on swinging for the fences to try and go after Lawrence in the draft?
