Kyle Van Noy cut by MIA, should Bills target him?
thenorthremembers replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gonna pass on Van Noy. I dont think McDermott's defense plays to his strengths. He is kind of an amorphic player who does a lot of things pretty well, but has to be playing in a specific style of defense. He isn't a fly to the ball, athletic linebacker like Milano. Given that the Bills rarely use their SAM backer, I dont see the sense in spending more money there. -
Remember when Magic the Gathering cards first came out?
thenorthremembers replied to Boxcar's topic in Off the Wall
Interesting stuff. I am sure 20 years ago 50 bucks seemed like too much to be spending on one card. You never know how this stuff is going to shake out. Imagine those guys back in the 50's and 60's that ruined those same Mantle cards in their bike tire spokes. -

No I was speaking of the of the Magic Card. I took at look at the sold auctions on ebay, its one thing to list it for that much, but I was surprised to see one sold for that much. For sports cards I get it, they depict some of the greatest athletes of our time in their youth. I dont get it as much on the MAGIC end. And I am not saying that to be a jerk, I literally just dont understand the value. Is it the art, or the nostalgia? I'd love to know more about why the boom is happening. Trends like that are interesting. -

Sports cards are booming right now as well. One of these things actually sold at auction for 511,000 dollars. This tells me some people have way too much disposable income. -

Always thought Ole Buster was one of the more underrated corners in the league. But he is 32, and its probably over in terms of being a full time starter. -
Manziel and Gordon to be teammates again
thenorthremembers replied to Steve O's topic in Off the Wall
Its terrible. Its essentially what would happen if the Original XFL and Arena Football had a baby, but the baby wasn't even close to being as good as either of it's parents. If you really love watching 7 on 7s during training camp and wish you could watch an entire game consisting on just that you'll love it. Otherwise dont bother with it. The field is so small that the potential for real football to happen is non-existent. The play options are short pass to a guy standing still, long bomb to wide open guy, or QB runs after holding the ball for ten seconds. Additionally, the "fan controlled" aspect of it which they tout very heavily in the media, isnt apparent during the game at all. It's really just an avenue for fans of former players like Manziel. Its not worth anyones time. -
I am one hundred percent on board with this. The guy is a fantastic pass rusher, and at 6'5 270 he has the size to play in both odd and even front schemes. However, the worry about him coming off the ACL is real. As such, I think you have to be realistic on what you'd offer for him. Given the injury I wouldnt want the Bills to do over 10.5 a year. If he gets that and more you let someone else take the risk.

I think its going to be very hard for him to find a team. As much as he wants to think Washington didnt want him around was due to the new coaching staff, I think them not wanting him around had more to do with him being a liability. I winced every time I watched the guy drop back this year. The story is incredible, and I am glad he got to show his kids about resiliency, but I think its going to be amazingly hard for him to find a team. Not because he is a bad football player, but because watching him play after everything he went through is scary. I wouldnt want to be the team that put him out there.

Which team will J J Watt Choose ?
thenorthremembers replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watt has made over 100 million dollars from football alone. His Reebok endorsement is something north of 5 million dollars. When someone has generational cash like that money shouldnt make their decisions that difficult. What I think it comes down to is trying to figure out what team has the best chance of winning the Super Bowl next year. I think he could shock everyone and end up in Tampa. -
Losing a parent - when does it start to get easier?
thenorthremembers replied to Patience's topic in Off the Wall
My Father died 27 years ago, I was ten at the time. You don't ever "get over it" and anyone who says you need to is full of crap. However, the grief changes with time. The hurt doesnt ever go away, but the direct heaviness or impact on your everyday life passes. You're only a few years out of having the physical presence of the person who gave you life removed, its completely normal to feel the way you do. I would suggest turning that grief into motivation to keep her memory fresh. I am not sure how she passed away, but if she had a special charity she loved or directly impacted her, get involved with that. It's important to keep busy. I find enriching the lives of others, while sharing your parents life and legacy is helpful. If it gets really bad there are so many good bereavement groups to join and talk through with other people experiencing the same thing. -

I am a similar type of person but they did the same to me for close to an hour. I lost my cool for sure. -
Sunday Ticket/Directv future

This is what sealed the deal for me. Had it for ten years, and kept it because they worked with you. The second At&t tooke over the script flipped and so did I. Will never go back after the hassle I had with them. -

Dez Bryant Wants to Play Two More Years
thenorthremembers replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whatever it takes to earn the 730000k. I feel like a dummy at my current job for a 7th of that. -
I think he is a bit out of touch with reality. He was a rich kid gifted with a ton of athletic ability who now lives a very celebrity filled lifestyle. I think he is an excellent quarterback, but I am not sure his background, and current life lends a lot to being able to relate to his teammates. Honestly think the guy's constitution was better suited for baseball. That said, I hope to God he isnt traded.

Dez Bryant Wants to Play Two More Years
thenorthremembers replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am here to announce that I also have two years left in me. Sure I am 37 and out of shape, but I've never played a down in the NFL so a lot of tread left on the tires. Also, I would gladly play for the Vet Minimum. -
Whats left to figure out. I think you know pretty fast what teams youd be willing to play for and what teams you wouldnt. No way after this long the list is 12. If he chooses Tennesee the QB and supporting cast thing was crap.

I would take this with a grain of salt. Looks like Around the League has 15 followers and 3 tweets. -
Offense line problems - bring back Aaron Kromer?
thenorthremembers replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. The Bills have a very good line coach. They need a few more players to complete the line, but I dont think technique was the issue.
