Week 14 Gameday Bills at Buccaneers First Half thread
BigDingus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Allen just does this too often... year 4, and you still take some of the worst sacks & throw the ball up for grabs on a prayer... The line does no favors, but my god, it never changes! -

I hope everybody stops the whole "if we ignore the 50+ yard run, they actually did ok!" posts going forward... Those things are happening every game now. No more pretending they don't count. -
Week 14 Gameday Bills at Buccaneers First Half thread

Brady just loves playing the Bills... 20 seasons later, some things never change. Was probably thrilled to see a friendly face pop on the schedule. -
Including what McDermott said, it's not a good look. I get being heated after a loss, but man... they didn't look/sound right after this loss.
-
Ouch, was just watching PTI & heard what McDermott said about Belichick... Why give the guy that material? That's pretty stupid. Bills now being called whiney? Man, not a good look.

We built a team to beat KC ... and can't beat anyone else.
BigDingus replied to damj's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yet we lost a game 14 to 10, missed a FG within 35 yards, and were in the redzone AGAIN at the end of the game where another FG would've won the game. Seems like despite all the BS, the current "build" of the team could've beat the Patriots. They didn't, but the idea that we're "built to beat X" and X only is dumb. -
I only clicked this thread so I could then click the "Disagree" red X icon. Go home, you're still drunk. .

MYTH Busted: "The Defense couldn't stop the Run"
BigDingus replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your offense is built to pass & pass often. You have Josh Allen, Cole Beasley, Stefon Diggs, Dawson Knox, Gabriel Davis, Emmanuel Sanders, etc. Then with great field position & multiple redzone opportunities, come away with 10 points & lose by 4. That isn't the defense's fault. You hold a team to 14 points & less than 250 total yards of offense, you did your job. -
Was watching NFL Live just now, and I'm convinced more than ever that an upgrade at RB is pretty important. I still think bolstering both lines is huge, but our RB's took bad angles, made bad cuts in the backfield, and missed some huge opportunities. It was pointed out that it's hard to develop good vision if you aren't getting the reps in game or in practice, but they're still NFL RB's & need to make better decisions.
-
"That's why we practice in this s***" - Belichick Can't deny it worked. Good coach, good game plan, did what they set out to do. I'm actually not that upset, think the season is still salvageable, and falling short in awful weather just happens.
-
I know people hate to do it, but you gotta stop giving the offense/QB a pass every time they lay an egg. You give them all the credit in wins, then blame Daboll or McDermott in every loss. At some point you have to execute on the field, and the Bills failed in that regard on offense all night, even with great field position time & time again.
-
If you can win the NFL by just deciding to make your team one-dimensional for the fun of it (especially against a division rival you're playing on the road), then you deserve the praise.
-
Yeah... so about that "easy game," some predicted... False bravado & pretending this Bills team is built for bad weather is just ridiculous. Please, from this point on, stop pretending ANY game in the NFL is "easy," and stop acting like our offense is some dominant force. They're inconsistent at best, one-dimensional & ineffective at worst. Defense did the best they could, we had good field position throughout the game, JA & Co. continued their redzone failures.
-
Shocking. Finesse, undisciplined, passing focused team puts up 10 points at home in bad weather. The decision not to go for 2 ends up hurting us too, as we can't go for a FG to tie the game at the end (just as missing that FG didn't give us a chance at the lead in the end either). If we failed the 2 point conversion, we'd have lost 14-8 & still needed a TD at the end. Even though our defense gave up that 1 big play, they still held the Pats to just 14 points. Offense let us down again.

I get you don't HAVE to go for 2 there, but hopefully that doesn't come back to bite us. -

Imagine having everything going for you, deferring, playing back to the wind, stopping them twice, great field position twice... Then being down 7-0. Ugh, heart breaking. -

Ah, the thing I hate most about bad weather games... unforced turnovers. -
Belichick is doing a good job putting his rookie QB in a position to succeed, that is all. He's not putting everything on his shoulders, nor is he expecting him to do too much. He's removing as much pressure as possible & helping him grow in his system. I don't think it's too similar to Mayfield honestly. Mayfield started 13 games his rookie season, this will be Jones' 13th start tonight. In that time, Mayfield threw quite a bit more, was less accurate, but put up more yards/TD's/INT's. Stats are def. comparable in some areas though, so it depends on which you favor. Mayfield's rookie numbers were basically his ceiling, but he also had 4 different head coaches in that time & has been stuck with a fickle organization. On the other hand, Jones has been fortunate enough to go to arguably the most stable organization, an established system & is highly efficient. Even with dink & dunk stuff, 70% comp. isn't easy in the NFL. Mayfield is a lot more cocky & willing to air it out, while Jones is benefiting from a pretty risk-averse approach. Once he has Belichick & McDaniels' full trust, I expect to see them open up play calling quite a bit more. Only THEN will we really know how good Mac Jones can be, but you may be right. I just think year 1 in a Belichick/McDaniels system isn't going to bring out your true ceiling.

Well I hope to return to this post later tonight to see everyone celebrating in comfort & happiness!

That would be nice if WE exceled under those conditions, but we practice indoors, commit a lot of penalties, don't have a good run game, and rely almost exclusively on passing. Bad weather also increases the chances of turnovers, and we haven't been great in that area recently either. In our last 4 games, Allen has turned the ball over 8 times. In the first 7 games, he only turned it over 4 times. Worse weather isn't going to make it easier. I'm not saying this to hate on JA or the team, rather that I hope for as good of weather as possible for as long as our team is built this way.

Patriots at Bills: Game Week Thread (v2)
BigDingus replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think that's how to use the word "literally." We know the Bills swept the Pats last year, but... yeah, everything else before then doesn't look so good.
