Pats fans filling the Club Seats again?
BigDingus replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have no idea how this happened, but for some reason I read this in Miyagi's voice before getting to the last line... I kinda feel racist or something, ew weird... -
Patriots at Bills: Game Week Thread (v2)
BigDingus replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
You really, really shouldn't put that much weight & those high of expectations on any one game. I know it's important, & it's the Pats, but you're psyching yourself up for some serious anger/sadness potential. I'm 100% not trying to be mean or anything, just remember how pissed I used to get when I'd do that myself. -
Patriots at Bills: Game Week Thread (v2)
BigDingus replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ouch... I don't think I was expecting some crazy revelation from this post, but I definitely had higher hopes for SOMETHING new worth being optimistic about Edit: This comment was in response to the thread titled something like "Why I believe the Bills will win Monday" before it was merged lol -
I understand what you're saying, though I feel like settling for FG's against the Chiefs, especially in the Broncos position, would be most people's definition of "coaching scared." The Bills tried settling for FG's in the AFCCG & quickly came to regret it. This season, our inability to score TD's in the redzone came back to bite us several times. That's not to say kicking the FGs were wrong in their situation, only that it's dependent on what kind of team you are & who you're playing against. I think the Broncos know they're lucky to be in the playoff conversation the way they've played, and a win against a division rival is critical to keeping those hopes alive.

So shouldn't they go with the better team offering $16 million (maybe that's what you're saying)? I guess to me it'd depend on how long the contract was for & how much was guaranteed money. $2 million per year over a 5 year contract adds up, but ultimately it depends on a number of things (including what stage of your career you're in).

Hill is getting pretty good at adding INT's to Pat's stat line 😂

Is this sarcasm or full on denial? We are not built for bad weather, and we're definitely not built for beating this NE team... I'm so confused about how you think playing against a disciplined, strong running, tough & opportunistic defensive team, especially in bad weather, is an "easy game." Oh, and this team is run by a HOF HC who is prepping them. No QB has beat Belichick 3 times in a row, so it's not like there's history favoring us either. Yeah, the Bills definitely can win. But man, this false bravado & crazy talk just puts out bad juju to jinx us! Yes, I'm superstitious as hell 😂

Sunday late thread: Baltimore at Pittsburgh
BigDingus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wait, because he failed a 2 point conversion at the end? Also, the subject of your username almost gave the Ravens the win 😜 -
Guys... I don't know how many times this has to be proven, but the more you win, the more credit you get! Crazy concept, I know... but the Bills were getting TONS of love & the benefit of the doubt nearly every game, even after losing at home to the Steelers to kick off the season. Then we lost to the 1 win Jaguars & got blown the hell out at home against the Colts...meanwhile the Pats go on a 6 game win streak & take the division lead. Even still, plenty of people are picking the Bills to win this game. Despite all evidence suggesting this is the Pats' game to lose, people still are basing predictions off what the more flashy things they've seen the Bills do last year & this season. Teams EARN their benefit of the doubt over time. The Pats have had 1 down year without Brady, now seemingly got it together. Of course the media is going to credit the two-decade division leaders as soon as they can. Of course a team that is 3-3 in its last 6 games & choked away the division lead is going to be doubted. When we were cruising, there were posts with people saying it felt weird to get all the love & always be the favorite! It didn't feel right to not be the underdog anymore! Well now here we are, looking up at the Pats, and now fans are mad we aren't the runaway favorites? If we lose this game like many expect, what then? Should we still be favored every game afterwards?? You going to be furious when Josh Allen isn't mentioned in the MVP conversation? If Allen turns the ball over a ton, are you going to scream every time an announcer slobbers over an opposing QB like Brady in our upcoming games? The Bills have to earn that benefit of the doubt again. They still have a lot of it tucked away in the bank, and plenty of people still believe the Bills will win Monday night. But that won't last long if we keep going win, loss, win, loss, win, loss...

Defensive turnovers/endzone celebrations
BigDingus replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's annoying, but it's better than when the NFL was rabbidly enforcing excessive celebration penalties. I still have PTSD whenever I see a player go to the ground celebrating! But yes, it's obnoxious to see people run all the way to the other side of the field just to pose. Perhaps they could specifically call those types of celebrations as delay of game penalties? I hate taunting/celebration flags, but there has to be a limit to prevent such extensive/time consuming ones. -
I'll be honest, I've been all on the "wish they'd build a dome!" train, but I enjoy watching snow games. You're right in that it's an intriguing thing as a viewer. Even though I'd be 100% for a dome, snow games are a fun spectacle. Problem is this is a game against the Patriots, and it's a game for the division lead. Also, despite what people WANT us to be, our team doesn't have an advantage in bad weather anymore (and hasn't for a while). The Pats are a better coached team, don't turn the ball over, can run the ball very well, and are disciplined. And although our defense is great at takeaways, theirs is the only one better. Combine that with Josh turning the ball over more recently, this "could" be a recipe for disaster. I haven't checked to see who's officiating the game, but the refs this year have been a mess. We've been very undisciplined during many games this year, and if we get a flag-happy crew in bad weather, Belichick can be as conservative as possible & stall us out. Slow/grindy running on top of drives being extended via penalties could wear our defense down FAST & never allow the offense to get in rhythm. Of course, this is all worst case scenario stuff, but it's also quite plausible. We haven't won back to back games since the Chiefs win October 10th, lost to a 1-win Jags team, lost by nearly 30 points at home to the Colts, and are facing the hottest team in the league. McDermott will have to coach masterfully, have the team more prepared than ever, and Allen will have to execute a nearly perfect game without turnovers.
-
Since this team is clearly bipolar, I'm not "expecting" anything. Those hyped up games used to have a weird effect on the Bills, now it's just losses to teams you'd never expect. Allen is turning the ball over way more than he did last season, and against Belichick, that won't fly. They're playing their best football and definitely won't come in overconfident. It's up to the Bills to show they can impose their will against a Belichick gameplan that will be designed to make us one dimensional. They can do it, but I'm not taking anything for granted.
-
He's right about the "piss-missile" passes though 😂 I mean, it's cool Josh can throw 95 mph lasers, but there are times where that's probably not the best approach lol
-
This turned out to be a pretty good indicator of what to expect for this game. I'll have to start paying more attention to these threads, because I loved how this game was called. It wasn't just that we won, the pacing itself was so much better. And not having to watch drive after drive be extended due to some janky call off screen was wonderful. Oh, any kickoff or punt not being an automatic flag was nice too.

Bills at Saints 11/25/21 Second Half Thread
BigDingus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brady is great at avoiding pressure while staying in the pocket. He may be one of the best ever in that area. -
11/21/21 Colts@Bills Second Half Thread
BigDingus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is why people have to stop making Allen out to be "elite" & saying they'd take him over everyone else. 4 years as a starter, & still just makes these goofy, dumb decisions. I'm not talking simple mistakes, every QB throws picks, but completely avoidable, head-scratching forced errors that ensure you hurt your team. -
Oh Sammy...I don't miss you. Pathetic effort here.
BigDingus replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just like Lee Evans! -
And just last week we had people complaining that we should just abandon the run & go all-in on passing since that's our bread & butter. Bad idea. When Josh is throwing 40-50 times, it doesn't bode well for the offense. Obviously, he needs to take care of the ball better as well (he said as much), but have to find a way to keep the run game going throughout the game & not just give up when we're not getting much of a push.

11/7/21 Gameday Bills @ Jaguars Second Half Thread

The last 2 weeks haven't exactly been a great endorsement of Allen... This "easy" schedule sure isn't working out right. -
Josh Allen vs. Mahomes: Last 32 regular season starts
BigDingus replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't care who's better in whatever time frame you want to count, I'd still rather have Mahomes' accomplishments (50 TD/MVP season, 2 x SB appearances, 1 x SB win) than anything any other QB has done in the league over the same time frame. This board has hated Mahomes since he blew up the first year he started. There's a rooting interest in his failure & an understandable bias. That said, I love both the guys, except when we play the Chiefs. Then Mahomes can suck it. -
Trubisky to covid 19 list; Davis Webb elevated from PS
BigDingus replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's what I'm hoping. People are too complacent thinking everyone that gets it just recovers & feels fine again, but it can take a LOT out of you (or worse). I feel like Josh knows this, and wouldn't want to risk being out of the lineup for even one game, let alone weeks or more. Dawkins still isn't back to his old self, and it could've been worse. Just hope everyone's ok, and that he & Trubisky don't miss any pivotal games. -
Stats is what really put over Rodgers vs Allen last year, and yes & no - I included Josh's stats for that day against Miami (but didn't include the stats for the others like Brady who was still playing, Dak Prescott who has only played 6 games yet has comparable numbers, and Derrick Henry, who was still playing...though now is injured). So Josh is behind Brady & Stafford, even if you gave him an 8th game (especially not factoring in Brady's last game). And even though I personally don't feel like Lamar is in contention at this point, I know the voters do, and he'll likely shoot up even more if his rushing total is like last year's (he's also only played 7 games too). But like I said, I still think Josh is very much in the running & if he plays well through this stretch of weaker opponents the wins & numbers should shoot him up to the top with Brady & Stafford.
