Three things (good and/or bad) you take from this game
BigDingus replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Takeaways from the game? The best thing taken away from the game was Spencer Brown. -
How are we supposed to feel about this win??
BigDingus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
It tells us Spencer Brown is a certified head case & needs a good ol' fashioned ass whoopin in the locker room. It also shows me that we CAN run the ball if we don't give up on it, and in fact, it may be a necessity if we have any prayer of making any noise in the playoffs. Otherwise, Josh will be running around like a chicken with his head cutoff after a few drives of constant pressure... because our pass blocking has been flat out EXPOSED. -
B Brian Flores sure knows how to save his job before each season's end. Right as it looks like he's completely lost his team, suddenly they go on a hot streak to keep him afloat (and keep them just out of the playoffs).

Let's not go down this road again... We have to PROVE we're better. Having more talent at skill positions & a more dynamic QB doesn't mean as an entire unit we're a better team... That requires the entire unit to display superior team play, which we are very hit or miss. There's zero doubt in my mind we can go in there & win, but they have to earn that reputation as the class of the AFCE again.

You know what's sad? Had it not been for Spencer Brown, Singletary likely would've hit 100 yards rushing this week & broken the drought -

Ah, shades of last season! Cam turning it over to end the game 😁 Some things just warm the soul. -

Just had to make sure the offense brought back its game average closer to 30 points again 😉 Plus it's always good to pad Josh & the gang's stats lol -

See? EXECUTION matters lol. When those run plays are actually going for positive yards & chewing clock, it looks great! When they're getting stuffed, suddenly we look like we're too conservative & playing not to lose. Just like the hoodie say "good players beat good coaching"... or some schlock like that 😄 -

Our reactions are the perfect example of how fickle fans are (including myself) & being an armchair QB. Previous drive everyone complaining that we were being too conservative, saying how weak we look, playing not to lose, etc... Then this drive we go more aggressive, do nothing, and give the ball right back to Carolina with plenty of time on the clock. NFL just ain't easy man. When you're not executing, it ALL looks bad. -

Still taking those crazy, panic dance, running backwards sacks 😓 Silver lining - he didn't just limply lob it up off has back foot in the middle of the field as he sometimes does in those situations. -

This is the worst display by by an offensive linemen I've ever seen in a game EVER. -

Isn't that kinda how we just got our last TD, refs extending our drive well after the play we failed to convert? Pretty sure our defense can blow it all on their own. They seem to be pretty slow reacting to Cam's scrambles. That's what I'm worried about. -

NFL is rigged! RIGGED I TELL YA! The refs extended our drive because the refs are in the pocket of Bill Beli... I mean the other Bills. Eh, maybe they just have a soft spot for any person or team with "Bill" in the name? I kid, I kid... This is why I don't think the games are "rigged." Refs get caught up in home field atmosphere, regardless of if they mean to. Glad this time it worked in our favor 😈 -
This year has just made no sense... Not just with upsets, but how wildly streaky or inconsistent teams are. Sometimes the Steelers are beating Bills, sometimes they're tying the 0-10 Lions, then they're beating the Ravens...oh but wait, now they're losing to the Vikings (who themselves just gave the Lions their first win)! Then you have an historically awful first year HC with Urban Meyer, getting fired for being so abysmal...yet he beat the Bills? WTF is going on! Lions up 17-0 on the Cardinals? Makes sense that his point lol

Leslie Frazier's interview Monday 12/13
BigDingus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have a tendency to focus so much on defensive failures because they're so obvious, but often overlook so much of what the offense fails to do that puts us in these holes too. Our redzone failures have been HUGE. We see it every game, and often, it's repeatedly wasting those 1st & goal situations that cost us the game. Not only could those missed points be enough to win us some games, they'd also allow us to play with a lead, put opponents in a huge hole, & negating our need for dramatic comebacks. -
Apparently, you have to be like the Cardinals, only looking for college coaches who were fired after years of underachieving & failing to win! Those are the guys who will miraculously turn it around in the NFL... as long as they get a franchise QB of course 😂

I'm way late to the discussion, mainly because I limit my time on the boards after a Bills loss, but I still don't think the NFL is "rigged." I think the refs are heavily influenced by home field crowds, favor certain players they are familiar with, are wildly inconsistent & need to be held accountable. As much money as the NFL makes, it NEEDS year-round, fulltime refs. Officiating crews who get too involved in games, miss obvious calls, or enforce calls inconsistently need to be held responsible. Lastly, I know that allowing PI calls to be challenged didn't go so well last time around, but I still think it needs to be something a team can challenge... only now with better training & protocols in place for when to flag/overturn calls/non-calls. With all the technology available to the NFL & the amount of angles they can do better. Do I want officiating crews in NY to chime in & call the refs on the field to make every little foul known? No. But when there's a potential game-altering/momentum swinging/outcome-deciding moment, perhaps a bit more effort should be invested to ensure the appropriate call is made.

AFC Wildcard Rooting Interests Week 15
BigDingus replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
True. If the Pats lose to the Colts & then lose to the Bills the following week, they'd be 9-6 with a Division record of 3-2 while the Bills would be 9-6 with a 4-1 Division record going into week 17. Then in week 17, the Bills play the Falcons (at Home) & the Pats play the Jags (at Home). Nothing is a given, especially with the Bills, but on paper we should both be heading into week 18 sitting at 10-6. Finally, Bills close out at home against the Jets, Pats finish on the road against the Dolphins. A lot could go right or wrong for both, but the Bills appear to have a better chance. Of course, all this changes if the Pats beat the Colts, or if the Bills lose to the Pats the following week. -
I like the positivity, I really do. On the other hand, week after week I'm getting progressively more exhausted with the false bravado & over confidence... seemingly in denial of reality, almost as if hoping that making wildly claims will manifest wins from the void. Predictions of one-sided blowouts, calling the Patriots an "easy win," checking off wins on the future schedule, calling for monster stat lines of various players, etc. has become too common after each loss. I get it, we want the Bills to turn it around! I'm not even asking people to stop being optimistic, not at all. Just please don't buy too much into it all or tie up your emotions & mental well-being to the team's success. Don't invest such heavy expectations into a certain outcome. We know this team has issues, several of them painfully obvious. We know the AFC is tough & unpredictable. We know injuries & COVID are taking a toll. We even know our star QB can let emotions & hype effect his play. Most apparent of all, we know our opponents have a recipe for beating us & will continue to implement that until the Bills how they can overcome that. TL;DR - Thank you for all those remaining positive! But please remember not take anything in the NFL for granted, & try to stay reasonable. I love these boards, but they're hard to visit after games & seeing the rampant depression, anger, sky-is-falling mentality after investing your emotions into the team & placing WAY too high of expectations on them. Have a great day everyone, Go Bills! 😉👍

Because you paid your QB over a quarter billion dollars. Want to make use of his "generational" arm talent? Passing is key. Problem is our O-line is mediocre in run blocking, average in pass protection & our RB's have poor vision. The defense is mostly a strong suit, but losing Tre hurts in the secondary, & our D-line isn't big enough/talented enough to pressure QB's or stop the run. RB's may only average 2.5-3.5 ypc "if you take away that one long TD run!" but the problem is that one long run is now a thing that consistently happens! There are now several games where that one long TD run was the difference between winning or losing the game. Long story short, the lines on both sides need dramatic upgrades, & our RB talent leaves a lot to be desired.

Week 14 Gameday Bills at Buccaneers First Half thread
BigDingus replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really? Are you serious? Allen limply threw up the ball, being taken down, on a random prayer & it's the "loser" Knox's fault?! I get being a homer for your QB, but a dose of reality would help every once in a while.
