I'm sure someone pointed out already, Tre was picked by the old FO. Beane can't get credit for that one. So only real early "hit" was Allen, and to a lesser extent, Edmunds (given the way he's viewed around the league). But yeah, drafting poorly in the first 2 rounds & committing so much to defense is clearly not working out. It also has the side effect of making Josh look inept to general fans & a lot of the media. Burrow & Hurts are now considered more credible, while Josh's stock has fallen. But their FO's have built up their lines & weapons, while ours stopped at Diggs.

1) Kincaid - About as productive as Knox, at least while on the Bills (could be great on another team or if Dorsey figures out TE's) 2) Torrence - Solid starter. Similar to Dawkins. 3) Williams - A ghost. As visible as Bernard. 4) Shorter - Decent rookie year after recovery. Will develop into a reliable starter. 7) Broeker - Probably end up being bounced around quite a bit, but will get called up with someone & remain in the league a while 7) Austin - Will become the next Dane Jackson/Christian Benford, eventually starting for the Texans or wherever he ends up

I know a lot of people just focus on what the Bills did to upgrade things, but seem to forget every other team in the league did so as well. Did kind of fixing a couple OL spots & drafting Kincaid change the offense THAT much? Did losing Edmunds hurt us more than other moves on the D side? And how will the D look with McDermott calling the shots? He may be significantly better or worse than Frazier... We don't know. I think they regress a little bit, but not a huge drop. 11-12 wins if they stay mostly healthy

Coaches can make mistakes, but they've got a team of coaches all evaluating these guys. If anything, the mistake was made at the draft level. Last year Frazier was calling the defense, and he didn't like what he saw. This year it's McDermott directing things, and he's only slipped further. All the assistants & position coaches also have input, yet somehow a 6th & 7th round pick managed to earn their spots while the guy McDermott & Co. handpicked to take the reigns has fallen. Again, they definitely did not want this. But better to correct a mistake rather than complicate one by making ANOTHER mistake & forcing an inferior player into the starting lineup due to draft status. Elam had chances in games. He had chances due to injuries. Even Benford was hurt for a while giving him a new opportunity to prove himself. Yet here we are, with another camp & preseason under our belts & Elam is out there on ST. This isn't just a one time mistake or coaches having it out for him. The opportunities have been there.

It provides a start. No stat provides ALL context, but in conjunction with what we've seen before, it still has value. 2020 - 35 receptions on 62 targets (58%) 2021 - 35 receptions on 63 targets (56%) 2022 - 48 receptions on 93 targets (52%) So do QB's just throw worse every time they target Gabe? Or was Gabe 1 for 4 today because he either doesn't run the best routes, drops passes, or isn't able to get seperation & fight off defenders? By comparison, here's Diggs: 2020 - 127 receptions on 166 targets (77%) 2021 - 103 receptions on 164 targets (63%) 2022 - 108 receptions on 154 targets (70%) Guess Allen just throws better when targeting Diggs...

Gabe Davis - 1 reception on 4 targets (15 yards) Stefon Diggs - 2 receptions on 2 targets (20 yards) Didn't watch the full game, just the game broken down into a 30 min cut, but looks like Gabe is still inconsistent in pulling down those passes despite the many chances.

Hate to say I told ya so. People can blame McDermott all they want & say how great Elam is, but it's extremely clear there's a reason he's not starting. It's not because we fans know so much better than our coaches... they see him every day & analyze every little detail on film and in person. Do you think they want their 1st round pick to be riding the bench or playing ST? Hell no! Do you think they drafted Benford in the 6th round because they thought he was better than their 1st round pick? NO. But somehow Benford has managed to move his way up both last year & this year. Dane Jackson was drafted in the 7th round, and he worked his way into the starting rotation too. Even with Tre out, Elam has not been able to do the same.

What about people atheists or people who simply aren't Christians? You don't need religion to tell you people can change & learn from expereinces (both good & bad). Similarly, people can accept he's changed & still not like or forgive him if they wish. What he did was pretty messed up, so it's understandable that his reputation may be forever unsalvagable to some. I hate what he did, but I also accept that he likely understands how disgusting what he did was... If I met him today, I would judge him based on who he is now. Would I be saying that if he killed someone? Probably not. But that goes back to the part where I said some people may never accept or forgive regardless of anything else.

That's true for everyone regarding almost anything... If I never got pulled over speeding, why would I stop speeding? If I cheat on tests throughout school & I never face consequences, I probably never see the error in my ways. People learn from mistakes, learn from failure, learn from experience, etc. etc. etc. Kids are a good example, as everything they do teaches them something or another, good or bad. I was told being shocked by electricity hurt, but I still stuck my finger in a light socket 😆 Anyway, what he did was reprehnsible, but the fact is he DID face consequences and did learn the severity of what he did. Years later, he's likely even more cognizant of what he did wrong, so playing the "what if" game & judging him for what could've been makes no sense.

Maybe it's just to push Dak in camp a bit, or add a little pressure when the team inevitably underachieves over a certain stretch. Obviously it's not a REAL threat to Dak, but it could be just enough to get that stupid portion of a fanbase calling for the backup & motivate Dak to prevent that. In reality, it's probably none of that, and I'm just trying to make it more interesting than it really is 😅

I like his predictions. Not because they're the most likely to become reality, but because he's trying to put in more effort into mixing it up rather than simply slotting everyone into the same positions as the previous year (like most analysts). Going into each season, you see most predictions simply put the top 4-5 teams back on top, with divisions shaking out in a pretty similar way. They'll mix up a couple 3rd & 4th place teams, or maybe predict bigger things for an up & coming team, but overall it's pretty uninteresting. This guy goes out & picks the Pats only improving 2 games, but winning a division that is closely fought. Some of his stuff looks the same as last year (like the AFC South & AFC West), but otherwise it seems he at least tried to get creative with some of the rankings & predict actual shakeups. So at least this guy's trying, even if I think he's wrong.

If this was pre-Von Miller signing, I'd easily have said OL. Out of all my posts the last few years, I think I've b*tched about OL the most. I'm glad others came around to it last year, but at this point, we have Von signed so we may as well ride it out. I don't think he was ever going beyond the 3 years, so we'll have to address the OL in other ways.

Imagine the Bills made the SB but Allen got injured in the AFCCG. If the Bills were to sign Brady to fill in, I think Bills fans would rather lose than have their first & only ring be forever tarnished with Brady as the QB instead of our guy 😆

Ruben Brown also made 9 x Pro Bowls (and 4 x All Pro as well), but many Bills fans still don't think he was that good! Do we think Jason Peters was worthy of all 9 Pro Bowls, or did he coast off his name & previous achievements for the latter ones? 😉

Well yeah, we definitely need help there, but don't expect much to change at this point. I think they're pretty set for this year. I hope when some cap space opens up they do what KC did a couple years back & go all in on revamping the line. I think Torrence will be good (though not sure he'll start) & McGovern will be an improvement, but it's still not a great unit. Morse is getting up there too, so soon we won't want to ignore C either. Then again, I've been crying about O-line being my #1 issue for 2 years now & any help is appreciated.

I'm still just happy knowing we don't have to be waiting through a month of these games wondering how many times we'll see the guys we actually want to see. We're half way through already!

It's funny to hear Bills fans still act like RBs are a dime a dozen, when we haven't found ourselves a great RB the entire time we've had Allen... If it weren't for Allen himself, we'd have terrible team rushing stats. Then again, it's a team effort. The OC, the line, and the backs need to all work in tandem.

We should all get that, but I responded to the original post claiming there was "NO benefit" to extending him now. I simply pointed out there was. "Any time, not just after the season" presents the same dilemma. If you play wait & see, you lose leverage the further into a good season you go. And if you do wait until end of the season, you're almost guaranteeing he leaves. He has a great season - can't afford him. He has a bad season- you let him hit FA. He has an average season- you only extend if the player doesn't think he'll get a better shot elsewhere & you don't have better options. So it seems like most of the board is willing to just hope for one great season out of him & saying goodbye.

LOL I forgot about this... But that reminded me of Richie Incognito, who also had some nutty moments after his last season in Buffalo. Did those lead to any arrests?
