Zero Bills Preseason Games on National TV
BigDingus replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can we go back to crying about being "disrespected" again? -
I've often felt that way... IN THE MOMENT. After I've had time to cool down, I think it's most incompetence & poor officiating. There's just too many things that have to go a certain way on any given play that to conclude "rigging," would require far too many leaps in logic & just absurd assumptions to be accepted... The only games I really still have questions about across ANY sport are all related to the NBA. Even then it's not to the level of rigging from up top, ingrained in the institution like WWE, but rather select individuals doing it unbenknownst to those in charge. Like the 2006 NBA Finals. I still can't watch those games & not feel the refs weren't trying to give Miami the series via D-Wade free throws. So many phantom calls if anyone so much as breathed on the guy. It made for a terrible watch back then, and a nice conspiracy now.

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
BigDingus replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Inflation is one thing, but this is absurd. Wages aren't going up. Construction costs in the state are just out of control. Spending nearly $2 billion (or even more), for an outdoor stadium, no chance of ever hosting a SB, in an area that has no shot at encouraging surrounding development, and that will only be used a handful of times a year is even more inanely wasteful than these things already are. Even more crazy is that there's a chance the team could STILL be pushed out of games due to weather & be forced to fly to nearby DOMED stadiums that actually planned ahead for such things. How embarassing is it if you pay $2 billion for this shiny new stadium that will get used 8 times a year, just to lose one of those games because of bad weather & have to fly to Detroit again? Even less return on investment.. for the one city that could use a roof more than anyone else. -
Aaron Schatz picks the Bills and 49ers in the Super Bowl
BigDingus replied to Utah John's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ah, so this fabled matchup again... At this point, I don't think the Bills will ever meet the Niners in the Super Bowl. Fate has determined it will never allow it to happen 😅 -
Florio: NFL considering XFL kickoff rules
BigDingus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
That sounds just so much better in every way. You get one more chance to convert a low % play, only now using your best players. Feels like that would also make it more skill-based & less dependent on getting a lucky bounce. -
Florio: NFL considering XFL kickoff rules
BigDingus replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd much prefer this over what we have now. I'm against eliminating kickoffs entirely, as I want ST plays to still matter & have the opportunity to impact the game in more areas. I'd prefer the OG rules, but the injuries obviously make that untennable. So this is a good option in lieu of that. But since I'm not familiar with XFL rules, how do onside kicks work with this format? -
Josh Allen goes #1 overall to the Browns in a 2018 Redraft
BigDingus replied to StHustle's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we're gonna play that game, the Bills don't trade away the #10 overall pick in 2017 and take Mahomes or Watson (ew). Then again, I'm sure the Bears wouldn't have taken Mitch Trubisky at #2 either, so I guess we'd take whoever is left from those 2 😅 -
My conservative estimate is geared towards Dorsey rotating him in for 2 TE sets & empty backfields trying to spread the field. In that situation, I can see him used to create mismatches in the redzone or attempts to stretch the field. He may have numbers similar to Gabe Davis's rookie year, with slightly higher YPC (not than Gabe, but than my higher est). But if Dorsey commits to using him a lot more & gives him significant reps in the slot, he may lean more towards Cole Beasley's numbers and used a lot to move the chains. I don't think TD differential will be that much, but he'll have a more opportunities in the offense.

***Conservative Est.*** 45 receptions 540 yards 4 TD's ***High Est. (If Dorsey actually utilizes him in the slot more than 2 TE sets)*** 65 receptions 770 yards 6 TD's

I don't care what anyone says, it's still cool to see a Bills player getting national recoginition in ads. Call it a distraction or whatever you want, but I still enjoy it. Peyton Manning became a much more beloved player after people saw his personality shine through in ads, so hopefully it'll do the same with Josh 😁

1949 AAFL Championship Game: Bills @ Browns
BigDingus replied to Old Coot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Apparently, he was also one of their linebackers... 😅 "After the Bills received the kickoff, captain and LB Lou Saban intercepted a short toss in the left flat and rambled 39y for the final TD, the first of his pro career. As he reached the EZ, he started to throw the ball into the bleachers, then changed his mind, and clutched it firmly as he trotted to the bench." -
Oh god, that play sums up a consistent fear I've had the last few years watching games. A 3rd & long always feels like an inevitable conversion... When the Bills do make a stop, I'm more surprised (and relieved) than I feel should be normal. The best example to describe the feeling is that I feel more relaxed on 3rd & 5 than I do on 3rd & 15. It should be the opposite right?! I hope McDermott really does change that.

Bring back Vontae Davis!

Just reveal the 90's red helmets with blue accents to match our current uniforms. Nothing else needs to be changed! Also, what are the rules on field designs? Could we have a 90's era field throwback with red endzones? I dunno, I'm getting tired of everyone getting a white helmet redesign now... But I'd be lying if I said it doesn't look good. Either way, better than a lot of those black alternate helmets.

I think all of us fans can understand exactly where he's coming from. The stuff that gets under people's skin are the cryptic social media posts & letting speculation brew far too long. Everyone appreciates keeping it in house, but when you post the cryptic messages for millions to see, it inevitably leads to people making their own assumptions. That just opens the door for teammates & coaches to take on additional heat, and staying silent (or amplifying it with more Tweets) for months, doesn't exactly scream "keeping it in house." Anyway, still love the guy, still glad he's a Bill, and still support him 100%

Well look who has the smartest fans in football
BigDingus replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
When I was 18 I tried to light a fart on fire... while I was working at Kohl's. I was a bit too successful, as the flame exploded, then sucked itself right back into my ass through my pants! I felt like a crapped myself, but while on fire. Needless to say everyone thought I was a moron... BUT WHO'S LAUGHING NOW BABY!? I AM SMART! 😆 -
Herbert deal signed : 262M - 5 yrs extension
BigDingus replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a few years, Herbert's deal will look like a steal. It's all relative, as each year the contracts will get more & more insane as the cap increases. Hurts got his extension & was the highest paid ever by year. A month later, Lamar tops it. Now here we are with Herbert. I'm sure Burrow will then be the next highest paid in a little bit. -

What if you live in the US, North of the Canadian border already... Am I looking toward the Artic League? -
PFF Top 50 Players for 2023 - Josh Allen at 12, Diggs at 24
BigDingus replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Look at all those negative reactions to your post 🤣 "No, Josh doesn't need to cut down on the turnovers! It's great that he has nearly 40 in 2 years! He needs to keep leading the league in turnovers, especially the really inexplicable ones that aren't a result of pressure, great defense, or receiver screwing up!" Josh is awesome but I don't get why people are mad at you... Burrow has done more, doesn't make as many mistakes, and outplayed Josh in Buffalo last we saw them. He made a SB in year 2. He's simply done more. So basically what the post you're responding to said originally... it's always everyone else, not Allen. But when we win, it's Allen. All of the credit, none of the blame. Got it. -
Low-mid 80's would put him on par or above people like: Ed Oliver (81) Fletcher Cox (81) Arik Armstead (82) Javon Hargrave (84) Do you think he's better than them? I'm not sure, but I know overall Madden ratings are pretty conservative & lean lower than fans tend to think. Is an 87 overall rating good? Many people would say it's solid, but then you realize that's the rating they gave the Chiefs as the best team in the league. It's all relative to other players & teams (Bills have an 82 btw).
-
Which is still really good.
-
Convenient he didn't give a predication on WHO would win the AFC East, only that it wouldn't be the Bills. That's a pretty easy bet, just given the odds. You're essentially get 3 shots at being correct, and only 1 being wrong. It's like saying "The Chiefs won't win the Super Bowl this year!" and acting like it's a bold prediction. You're taking the field of 31 teams vs just the 1 team. Obviously, the odds are in your favor, even if KC is the best team in the league.

I think the board is making the same mistake they always do when we see the fan & media praise another QB is getting, and think it's at the expense of OUR guy. In response, we underrate these guys & cherry pick things to discredit them with. Hurts may have a better line, but that's not an indictment on him, it's credit to his front office for assembling a better team. We all thought Tua was a joke, then he suddenly played great when he was surrounded by more great players (and not concussed). People piled on Allen after his rookie year, but then a concerted effort was made to improve his WRs bringing in Beasley & Brown, followed by Diggs the next year. Suddenly, Allen goes off in 2020.... but should Ravens fans look at the Madden ratings of his WRs & say Allen deserves less credit than Lamar because his WRs were better? When I see QBs have great seasons after significant roster upgrades, it just tells me they had more potential than I otherwise gave them credit for. Despite what people think, a bad QB isn't going to magically be great just because the rest of the team is great... They can win games, sure, but it'll be clear who deserves the bulk of the credit. The 49ers are a great team, but the QB position isn't the driving factor. The Trent Dilfer Ravens won a SB, but we all know who gets the credit. Hurts is the opposite of that. Even though the team around him improved, we only now got to see the potential Hurts really had all along. Having AJ Brown or a good O-line doesn't diminish his achievements, it only shows us what his achievements can be. In the same way, Allen's achievements are diminished because we got Diggs. If our O-line suddenly improves & we win a SB, is that a knock on Allen? No. It just shows what he's capable of when given the proper foundation for success. /rant
