The Dolphins are in huge cap trouble moving forward...
BigDingus replied to warrior9's topic in The Stadium Wall
Aren't we in one of the worst cap positions in the league going into next year? We're one of 8 teams projected over the cap, and it gets even worse in 2025 as there will only be 2 teams with worse cap space. We have 10 players accounting for 70% of our cap next year, and several of them are 30+ years old, dealing with injuries or both. So I'm not going to judge the Dolphins, as I'm sure both them & us will find some way to get under the cap. -
Will we have to replace Dorsey next year?
BigDingus replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get we're all excited, but have we learned nothing after the past several seasons? It's week 4! We have to quit acting like the season stops here, or that you can just look at current success & pencil that in going forward. As yesterday showed us, even great wins will have major setbacks. After 14 more weeks, who knows how many more injuries players will be fighting through. Point being, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Whether it's Josh Allen MVP talk or Dorsey leaving to take a HC position, let's be optimistic but not take anything for granted. -
McD much better D coordinator than Frazier

Not to toot my own horn, but this game really highlighted what I was talking about. The early stages saw Miami move the ball with ease, with both teams marching up & down the field without issue. But by the end of the game, it was a completely different story. Aside from the obligatory huge run play they gave up, the defense made the necessary adjustments & buckled down HARD. Getting after the quarterback on critical downs, great coverage, getting turnovers, making tackles, etc. Hats off to McDermott & the defense! -
Now if Josh doesn't throw another pass for the rest of the game, he'll finish with a perfect 158.3 passer rating 😁
-
Well, there's the obligatory huge run play we give up each game.

I'm devestated for Tre... This time it's the right leg though, so let's hope it's not the ACL

It's pretty crazy seeing them get beat down 24-3 by the Titans... The same Titans that just lost 27-3 to the Browns. The same Browns who are losing 21-3 to the Ravens right now. The same Ravens who lost to the Colts last week. I swear, the NFL makes no damn sense... Especially the AFC South & AFC North 😅

Dolphins were down 3 scores in the 4th quarter against the Ravens last year, then came back & won. Don't get comfortable! Floyd actually wasn't credited with the sack. It was Groot.

Game is nowhere close to being over, but this is where Dorsey & the run game can really prove they can be leaned on when it matters. Don't hurt yourselves, don't turn the ball over, and play smart!

Milano is a god.

At least we came away with points. But 2 turnovers, only 3 points? Last week Washington gaves us 3 turnovers & we scored 0 points off them... Thankfully things turned around, but offense has to capitalize!
-
Can we finally get points off a turnover? Seriously, the Bills have to be the safest team to commit turnovers against. Even a FG would be huge.
-
They made a stop! Offense has to do better than they normally do & punish teams off turnovers.
-
3rd and long, the worst down for Bills defense. Fingers crossed!
-
Glad the offense is up to the challenge. Also glad we're mixing in the run game, because the longer our offense is on the field, the less time Miami's offense has to run up the score.
-
That'd require Dorsey to commit to the RB during those tight games. True, but they only drafted Lynch to replace yet another 1st round RB they picked - Willis McGahee. And a 1st was used on McGahee even though we already had a Pro Bowl RB in Travis Henry! Rumor has it Ralph wanted to replace Henry because he was tired of helping out with his child support for his 87 kids

Elam a healthy scratch part deux (now part TRES) (now part QUATRO)
BigDingus replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Which is why I think it's a bit silly that people just blame the system & give Elam a pass. The team clearly knew what they were targeting & knew what worked within our system. They believed Elam's skillset would work well covering covering key guys like Hill. Unfortunately, that just hasn't been the case. It's not that McDermott doesn't like to play rookies (hate that excuse), it's just that Elam isn't what they had hoped. I certainly wish him the best, but having your completely healthy 1st round pick from just a year ago not even dress for games? The Bills coaching staff doesn't think he's the guy. -

The thing I like most is that he seems more willing to make adjustments, or at least I'm seeing a more fluid approach to calling the defense. With Frazier, it felt like there was one way the Bills defense played, and come hell or high water, we were stuck in it. We adjust for no man (or no team)! And that's no joke. Bills led the league in nickel usage at 92% (2nd highest nickel usage was the 2020 Jets at 83%). But even while in that coverage, there is still room to make adjustments & try to combat what isn't working. Frazier didn't seem interested in donig that, while McD only cares about results. -
Remember when people complained Allen wasn't getting enough sponsorships or in as many ads as other QBs? Do we like this, or is it something we should complain about? I never know! But in all honesty, I love it. The more exposure he gets, the more exposure the Bills get! So keep on keepin' on Josh!

But we lost to the Jets... The Zach Wilson Jets. Then we beat a bad Raiders team, then watched the offense kick FGs most of the last game until the end. For a while, we had only 3 points off 3 or 4 turnovers, and only 16 points to show for it. So we can make ANY team sound not that impressive or downplay their efforts. Can the Bills win? Obviously, yes. But we also should stop discrediting what other teams have accomplished, regardless of what point in the season it is. We did that last year too, then went to Miami & lost. The Bills looked like world beaters through week 6 last year, then went through a long stretch of middling offense, playing sloppy, and division losses. Hoping we don't downplay anyone this year. People got mocked for saying "remember the Jags game" last season, then those fears were proven warranted. I'm not trying to suggest the Bills are bad or Miami is winning the SB, I just want us to treat every game with the respect they deserve.
-
Last year the average was 2 points for the home team, but I've always seen home teams being favored by only 3 points or less called "pick'em games," meaning there is no real favorite (or underdog).
-
Since it's a home game, that basically means Vegas has it as a tossup. By game time, I expect the line to be more in Miami's favor though.
-
In one game, they scored more points than 23 other teams have for the year so far. And they got within striking distance of 4 others. Ravens - 71 points Lions - 72 points Browns - 73 points Colts - 74 points Miami now has 130 points through 3 games, good for 1st place. The Bills are 2nd place, with 91 points 😅

Zach Moss no yards on back to back downs, turnover on downs. Ouch.
