Matt Miller 7-round Mock Draft: Bills take OT Jonah Williams
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Wr will be the pick. The top guys are going to go higher than some of the pundits expect. -
From a schematic standpoint on defense? Yes. He is a football genius. Parcells imo showed how to turn that into action. From an ability to build a Championship caliber football team? No. Parcells had an exceptional eye for talent. Especially, 3-4 front 7.

I agree. There are 3 to 4 good options that will be available on day 2. Having a big target over the middle and down the seem will be a good pairing with Allen's strengths.

I'm not advocating trading for a #1. Though I wouldn't hate it. Williams is a nice Wr. He is a solid possession wr. Is he worth 4 year 40? No he is not. That is low end #1 money. I think he is worth half that. Buffalo has 8 picks. 2 in the first 41. The Wr crop is actually very good. Buffalo can draft a guy at 41 who will give you everything Williams brings and more. Hakeem Butler, Jj Arrcen-Whiteside are 2 that come to mind. In FA I would look for Olineman and a Te. Then low end Wrs and Rbs. Imo the draft is deep with both no need to over pay in FA for either this offseason. I see the need for the offense for sure just think it's a better allocation of resources.

Clowney and Lawerance are the top ofcourse. I also really like Frank Clark. Depending on what position you think he is best at Barr is intriguing as well. Buffalo has a pile of cash. Imo they would be better off paying a premium for a premier position. Depending who is available on the Oline, that needs to be a priority obviously as well. The Wrs are very poor. No real value outside of getting a guy on a prove it deal coming off an unproductive rookie deal.

Re-purposing Shady McCoy in the passing offense
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he is back in 2019 I think it would have to be in a role player capacity. Buffalo should not enter the season depending on McCoy for their rushing attack. A younger FA and a rookie need to be added. Utilized in an uptempo spread out package would play to his strengths. Like how NE uses white.q -
Instead of over paying for 3 or 4 mid level guys, I would go big game hunting. Full court press one of the edge rushers and interior lineman and then sign some young guys to prove it deals after the rush dies down. Bringing a guy in because you have the money is not the answer imo. Especially, where the draft meets your value.

Comes down to what him and his agent feel his worth is. I imagine that is more than what Buffalo feels his worth is. 4 to 6 mil a year is a stretch to me. I think he will ask for more. The wr class is deep l, the FA market is shallow. I think they would be better off looking elsewhere for outside help than FA.

I dont believe this would be a wise move. For Buffalo or for Palmer. Hiring a coach because of their relationship with a player makes little sense. Imo the QB coach needs to be the interpreter of the offense and Co Ordinator to the Qb. Idk, with the current Qb room of Allen, Barkley and Anderson if a QBs coach is even necessary. Daboll, and McDermott should be the voices and figures in the development of Allen. I'm sure Daboll could handle the QBs in a positional meeting setting. In terms of Palmer, you are limited in your access to the players. The amount of work required from a day to day, week to week standpoint as a positional coach will not results in an increase of pay. If Palmer wants to be a head coach or become a coach I see the opportunity, but would assume he would have pursued those at the completion of his career. I like the idea of having a guy to help Allen during the time when teams are limited in their access.

Imo it comes from people having a hardertime determining who the top wrs are in comparison to other available prospects. D-line is easy. They jump off the tv on the snap and are on screen the whole length of a run or for half of a passing play. Wrs are off the screen more often. They are only highlight a handful of time a game. This class is better than most at wr. The top wr is better than the 5th d lineman.

Kyle Crabbs’ Mock Draft 5.0: Bills take DE Clelin Farrell
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whenever there is 3 plus lineman drafted off the same dline it is dicey at best projecting who will be the best at the next level. I dont care what school. They are awarded more 1 on 1 match ups that many other players with similar grades were not rewarded. Doesnt mean they wont be successful but it's a risk for a top 10 pick. -

I'm very cautious of D-lineman from Clemson and Alabama. A top 10 Dlineman needs to be a game changer if you draft them that high. The talent on the overall line enhances the production of each individual. Hard to say who benefits more with playing with each other. -
I expect them to bring in alot of new guys in FA. Will it add up to 40, 50, 60,70, 80 mil? Spend under 60 to 50 mil in cap hit Bortles is a legitimate move still a decent offseason and now are armed with another top 40 to 60 pick.
-
Imo many draftnicks and sights can't easily evaluate Wrs. D-line is easy because the the standard tv view you can see guys getting up field easily. You are not seeing the wrs run the routes. Just making catches. The best wr in this draft will be a better player then the 4th or 5th dlineman. That's what the sights are saying. I would argue the increased use of the spread and 2 point stances by many olines has skewed the evaluation of dline play in college and how it translates to the NFL.

With my not so trained eye he reminds me a bit of Randy Moss with his long strides and ability to seperate and run past guys. The only other guy in the draft who eats up coverage and runs past defenders consistantly is Marquis Brown. Brown is 5'10 175 Metcalf is 6'4 215, That's what makes him so intriguing. With Allen strengths as a passer an elite deep threat would be high on my offseason wants list. He runs 4 4 and looks smooth he places himself in consideration at 9.

If Buffalo misses out on their prize FA targets I wouldn't hate it. If Jax is as cap scrap as I assume it's a logical was to eat some cap space and get a pick out of it. Basically, cut him and eat the cap hit for a day 2 pick.
-
He was a polarizing prospect as any from the last 10 years. Imo you take risks on talent. Allen has all the ability in the world. If he continues to work at it he has the ability to be a franchise Qb. Put some more weapons around him, and some better protection I think he can make massive strides towards fulfilling that going into 2019.

Marquise Brown is very intriguing to me. He could be a tyreek Hill type deep threat, with more developed Wr skills. Has NFL bloodlines. His cousin is Antonio Brown and is working out with him. Allen's ability to attack any part of the field makes having a guy like brown a premium. The big open even when not open guy will be there in rd 2 or 3. Rd 1 take elite athleticism.
