Agree. I think they were right though to have him strictly play Mike as a 20 year old rookie. Let him learn and try to master the position before moving him around. I haven't seen much of it but him as an edge Blitzer may be as good as his pass defense. He is so good in coverage you dont want to take alot away from that, but depending on down and distance have him rushing the passer makes alot of sense.

Yep. Rules in place protect wrs. His work ethic is second to none. To become a contender you need elite players. Alot of elite players have egos. They are not saving the Manatees, they are trying to build a Championship caliber team. I think Buffalo has a qb that matches Browns ability. He is a great deep threat, makes contested catches in tight coverage. I expect Brown to have 3 more seasons of top play. Would rather pay Brown top money than over pay for a middle of the road Wr in FA. Terms I would be comfortable with 9 for Brown and a day 2 pick back. Prefer brown swap firsts with our pick being top 10. Probably though 9 and get their 2nd if I had to I would take their 3rd. Same number of picks, essentially trading down and getting brown in return.

Bills hire Heath Farwell as ST coordinator

I was thinking about something to say vs all the assumed Carolina connection. But I know nothing about the guy and who here really knows anything in regards to who is a good position coach? -
Can Allen get him the ball enough? Yes. If he is the most productive Wr on the team and one of the best in the league will he be an issue? I dont think he will be. Is there an offensive weapon at 9 worth taking? No. Ab and a 2nd for 9. Biggest hole filled. At some point you need guys who are better players than the other teams. Allens youthful leadership and McDermotts no nonsense approach may be the right combo for Brown. You have to 100% discuss it and make an effort for it. Ab, a FA wr and Te opens the whole draft up for Buffalo. They are making a football team not s bible study group. He will be motivated to prove Pits wrong, and show he is not a product of Roethlisberger. Many here felt the same way about Shady and To before they got here. Both were nothing but professionals here.

Experience is not always worth more than potential. -
To me McCoy lacked his first step and acceleration. I do blame his yards per carry and lack of yards on the poor line play. He got caught from behind by d lineman more than years past. His cutbacks against the grain seemed more laboring as well. Maybe he had an injury that was unreported but he looked off on the occassions he was in space.

I understand the investment, but before he signs you still interview him as much as he interviews you. -

Money= need + availability. He is really the only game changing player available on offense. Instead of overpaying for an average guard, signing an all-pro still in his prime is not terrible. He would have alot to prove in meeting and such before signing, but I would kick the tires. -
Add talent young and old to the offense. If its the right mix, Buffalo could be a contender in 2019.

Baldinger on Josh Allen's Elite Athleticism
Mat68 replied to JESSEFEFFER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He is. You want to look at it as a back handed compliment sure. With the oline, running game and wrs I dont think there is a drop back qb who could have gone .500 with this team. His progress after his apparent. I'm firmly in the thinking of get him some help and he will carry this team to big heights. He carried the offense the last half of the season. Buffalo has not had a Qb who was able to do that with an once of a running game in my adult life. -
After the supposed deadline it came out that the language in Bells contract was extremely vague regarding the subject of season accrual. Legally, the assumption is that if arbitrated Bell wins easily. Bell for 3 years 50 isnt terrible. If it was fully guaranteed he would do it. Though I think he is 1 test away from a 1 yr suspension. I would def trade a 2nd plus for Brown. 3 to 4 years of top production would be worth it. Foster and Ab is a pretty good duo. Take Fant at 9 and the offense is pretty good outside.

Allen and Edmunds look like franchise pillars. The defense with a player added here or could easily be tops in the league. The offense is clearly needed of an infusion of talent. The caliber of Beanes pro scouting will be put on full display. The offense needs major improvements in every position. Who Buffalo targets first will be intersting. Beane has showed agression in the past will he do that again? Their are some interesting guys to explore on the offensive side. Will they get in a bidding war over Bell? Will they investigate his past and consider Hunt? Would they bring in ultra diva Antonio Brown? I would not be surprised by any of those moved but I also would not expect them. Rb based off current trends can be easily upgraded on the third day of the draft. Oline, Wr, and Te is not as easy. Alot is scheme and offense dependent. How in sync is the coaching staff and Beane? What kind of run game should they utilize? Imo power fits Dawkins and Teller better so that should be where they go. Are the available FA suitable with that style? Foster and McKenzie are pleasant surprises. Jones is Jones. A guy who can high point the ball and make contested catches is desperately needed. Zay is not that guy. Williams has those traits but is a complete longshot. A guy with #1 potential is needed. A guy you can use to dictate coverage. Does the draft have that guy? Idk. I'm also confident the draft sites and gurus do not know neither. The spread offenses has made it hard to accurately evaluate Wr from college to pro. Similar to Oline.

I expect a heavy offensive draft. Dont hate the idea of getting a blue chip front 7 defender in Rd1. My caveat is they have to be impactful bluechippers. I am cautious of both Clemson and Alabama's lineman prospects. Playing beside top talent it's hard to evaluate their dominance do to the increased 1 on 1 match ups vs double teams that other prospects routinely delt with. There are about 5 guys on defense, who if available at 9 I'm taking. If not one of them I am taking the best pass catcher or pass blocker in the draft.

Just How Bad Was Buffalo's Run Game Aside from Josh Allen?
Mat68 replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Center and both guards were terrible the majority of the year. Dawkins and Mills seemed to take a step backwards, imo from the poor play beside them. The stable of running backs were not that good either. McCoy lost his burst, the rest of the guys defense didn't worry about. -
With rules in place that protect QBs football is better gig than baseball if you play Qb. If drafted in the first 15 picks hes getting close to 20 mil guaranteed. Including playoffs you work 6 months out of the year vs 8 or 9 in baseball. 18 to 20 games a year vs 162. Travel 10 weekends the rest of the time you are home. If he was a Rb or Wr or Cb and was taking contact in practice and games with the possibilities of playing special teams than I would say baseball but as a Qb I dont think its really close.

Better interior play, more talent running the ball. -
Foles/Wentz article with interesting general insights
Mat68 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Potential vs production. If Foles gets slapped around in NO it puts all this to sleep. If Foles takes the eagles to the NFC championship and beyond I think it's a real question to have. Regardless of opinion, the Wrs produce more under Foles and the team plays better. It's a massive if, but if Foles takes them to 2 consecutive superbowls and he is only 30 I trade Wentz. I would asked for 2 firsts and a player. Jacksonville 2 ones and Ramsey for Wentz. -
What's the answer to All these offenses that make their money off hitting on their scheme beaters? Creative defensive Co Ordinators who adjust their coverages week to week. McDermott is one of the better defense minds in the sports. The defense is simple but also multiple. Of all the hired coaches the one I'm most concerned about and who I think will be the best of the bunch is Kris Richards in Miami. He is another modern defensive coach who has a simple scheme but is team specific.
-
If you are unable to win in college how are you going to win in the NFL? He has a good offense, but besides playcalling what does he bring to the table? Its the long of longshots. Sean McVay was in the NFL for 10 years before getting the Rams gig. I prefer McDermott to all these guys.

I think Hollywood Brown becomes the top wr and possible top 10 pick. Tyreek Hill, Tarik Cohen, Deshaun Jackson all examples of small guys playing well. Imo an elite deep threat is a must with Allen at Qb. With all the protection granted to Wrs being 170-190 is not terrible if you are a fluid athlete with elite acceleration.
