He offers the same production as Gore. The backs in the middle rounds have the potential to be better than Howard. Howard is a FA next year and will want most likely look to maximize his money and test the open market.

I wouldn't be surprised. Imo in this draft they are looking for quality over quantity. I could see them trading and possibly adding a veteran. Clowney or Lawerance I could see. Swap 1st and a conditional pick. Be in the perfect position to add skill position player. Te or wr make way more sense in the 20s than at 9.

Full Intelligent Breakdown of DK Metcalf
Mat68 replied to Scorp83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a projection for sure. Some players perform better in the NFL than college most do not. Why? Did Metcalf perform well when he was on the feild? Yes. Was his limited routes do to his ability or the offense. Most unbiased analysis of him believe the offense was pedestrian. I understand the injury concerns and could see why someone would rather go dline at 9. Imo I do see a drop off from him to the rest of the class at wr. -
ASU WR K’Neal Harry is projected as a 2nd rd prospect.

Rd 2 I would be stoked with Butler. He looks like the type of Wr Beane covets. Benjamin draft and trade. Also, Devin Funchess. I think Butler has the second highest potential of any wr in the draft. -

I think Metcalf has the deep ability and potential of Randy Moss. Allen has the arm to take advantage of it. Of the top receivers in the draft, Metcalf and Marquis Brown looked the most impressive, consistently had seperation, consistently ran away from defenders. Metcalf being 5 inches taller and 60 pds heavier gave him the advantage in my eyes. -

Harry seems to be a 20 pds slower version to me. Not saying he wont become a starting caliber wr down the road. I dont see it this year or next. -

Alot of those were Jones presumed strengths coming out of college aswell. Read their scouting reports. They are more similar than you are willing to admit. I would upload them but it is a chore to do off my phone. -

I understand your bias, but Harry is a similar caliber of wr as Zay jones. He will face some of the same issues that plagued Jones. He will struggle vs press coverage. His strength of high pointing the ball will be challenged when facing higher caliber of athlete that wont be afraid of his vertical speed. Going into 2019 Buffalo doesnt need 2 Wrs who are intermediate possession wrs. -

Both 6-2. Harry is thicker at 223 vs Jones 203. Jones 4.45 40 vs harry 4.53. Both scouting report weakness reads almost the same. Foot speed an issue threating a defense deep, will struggle vs press due to lack of suddenness and quickness. Both work well underneath. They are similar in alot of ways. I would rather have Zay jones year 3 than Harry year 1. I would rather have Metcalf or trade down or rd 2 Butler. He is not huge or fast though. I dont care what the combine says. You watch him play nothing jumps out at you. -

He wasnt though. Before the injury had more TDs and yards then Brown. He was also the only Wr on the roster other teams would double on occasion. -

Two factors make Metcalf the universal top prospect. Rare height weight speed combination. When he was on the feild he routinely created seperation and showed an extra gear to track a deep ball like a 5'10 180 wr. Imo Harry is about the same as Zay Jones. -
Belichick and McDaniels have their hands full re shaping the offense again. I dont want Hockinson anywhere near NE.

Mcdermott's thoughts on Bills aging backfield.
Mat68 replied to #34fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Age is just a number yadda, yadda, yadda in the middle of the draft they pick a running back. Both are short term options. Each should be productive if you watch their touches and limit their training camp and preseason use. They need better option to carry the load. I would be shocked if they dont come away from the draft with a Rb and I expect them to bring in possibly 2 undrafted guys aswell. -
Opening Night Confirmed GB v CHI, SNF Pats host

Pats chiefs or Pats Rams. -
See now I go the other way. Top 10/ first rd I want talent. Give me solid starters rd 2 and 3. Round 1 you need to find difference makers. Drafted talented guys. Trust the coaches can coach. My opinion of Allen was high before he was drafted. He has the most potential, and is the most athletic of all the Qb drafted last year. He elevated a horrible program to the most wins its seen in decades. He wasnt always pretty but threw lasers to all levels of the feild, and made 2 to 3 plays a game 2 or 3 players in sport could make. Last 3 weeks of the season Allen was a top 5 fantasy Qb aswell.

I'm talking deeper in the draft. Top 20 is expensive. Beyond that if you see wide margins in talent you should see if you can get said player. Not from a need standpoint but a value stand point. If you see a guy you think is a starter the rest are back ups or special teams players why not move up and throw in an extra pick the following round?
-
Outliers are all over the field and Hall of Fame. Gronk was a 2nd round pick because he had back surgery and he missed a large portion of his last year in college. You dont take Guards in the top 10. Quinton Nelson is an All pro as a rookie and could be generational. Go into the draft looking to add the best guys you can. By increasing the talent you improve your roster. I dont think historical data comes into play, however the strengths of each positions in corresponding rounds do. Example, I think starting in rd 3 there will be 5 or so rbs who could be impactful players availabe. The conversation is how good does your #1 rated guy have to be to draft him in rd 1 or 2 if you can get one in rd 3.
-
Gronk was the key to NE entire offense. He was becoming a dominant run blocker. So they could seamlessly go from run formation to pass formation without much package substitution. They lived off catching defenses in favorable personal and exploting it til its corrected, then they counter. Having to formation substitute slows down their offense, not having anyone outside who can win one on one allows you to play them straight up. 2019 stop the run force Brady to drop back and beat you.

They needed 5 new guys. Only Dawkins is a probable return from last to start. The line was terrible. They added the best center and without paying through the nose brought in guys who all showed flashes of good play when given opportunities. If they find 2 or 3 out of 4 they are better for it. Still better than the island of misfit toys the they trotted out last year.

It's simple, Buffalo are in the market for offensive talent when their wasnt much to choose from in FA. All the guys brought in are on 1 year deals with team options beside Morse. At wr Buffalo added the top available deep threat and arguably the top availabe slot wr. The slot was a position of need and Allen throws a good deep ball. In terms of trades. I think Brown's personality and contract demands were too rich for them. Beane values the draft and the top 10 pick this year too much to include it for Beckham. Gettleman made a call to Beane probably out of some relationship and professional courtesy and Beane didn't pony up or call back. I think Beane values their pick. They will get the pick of the best offensive skill player, Olineman, Db, Lb and a highly rated d lineman. The first time in a long time their are not pressing need. They have 10 picks, I bet they use 7 or 8.
