Is Josh really getting the coaching he needs?
Mat68 replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Ford doesnt lower his head in OT on the DE, Allen very well may have led the game winning drive in OT. On the road. Allen imploding and being blamed for the loss is a miss-representation of the end of the football game. -
McDermott and Beane End of Season press conferences 1/7
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's making something out nothing. The reporter asked similar leading questions about Allen's "melt down" at the end of the game. Both acknowledged he needs to improve, but both were quick to defend Allen as well. McDermott in those situations wants Allen to do things differently, he also wants a 5 man protection to block 4 rushers. Beane said as an evaluater he would take a guy trying to do too much, vs a guy not willing to do enough. Allen is not the reason they lost the game. The team made multiple mistakes. A young team in its first playoff game, it's not too hard to understand. They still were 1 or 2 plays away from winning the game anyways. -
Alot to take in. I think White is extended and that's it. The rest of the guys pick up options, offer tenders. Spain, Lawson I could see an early pick on tackle move Ford to guard. Obvious needs imo, Wr, Rb, OT, LB and Cb.

I think he has for the most part. Vast improvement from year 1 to 2. Improvement for Sept to now. Overall, Allen made plays to win the game Saturday. Going into year 3 Allen is on the verge of being the guy. With the cap space Buffalo is going to go all in for 2020. Better weapons, and better chemistry around Allen will result in better production. Alot of very good QBs lost their first playoff game. As a Bill's fan the future has never been brighter. For many years the 3 year plans never panned out. I think the Bill's go into 2020 favorites in the AFCE. Home playoff game in Buffalo seems like a high possiblity. In September I think many would be happy with how Allen performed down the stretch and the totality of his second year. -
Is Tre White worth top corner money?
Mat68 replied to DuckyBoys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Alot of cap space. First team all-pro. He's a McDermott guy. I think it's a no doubter. Phillips and Lawson imo are more 50/50. I think everyone forgets that Harrison Phillips and Oliver made Jordan Phillips the odd man out in September. Johnson is alot cheaper option than Lawson as a 3rd De. -
The rule, is the rule. You cant pick and choose a rule to make the game more entertaining and enjoyable. The Texans returnman made an incredible mistake. He caught a ball he should have let go for a touchback. He then forgot to kneel before giving up the ball. This is no different than any other kneel down or fair catch situation. To end a game s QBs down get a snap and turn around and hand a ball to the ref. They kneel first. That Td effectively ends the game. The NFL didnt want the majority of the the viewers to turn channel when its 20-0. If Buffalo did the same thing it would have been a "Billsy" thing to do. It was a Texan thing to do because they melted down in every playoff game under Obrien.

What are your expectations for the game this Saturday
Mat68 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Give him 2 easy passes to start. A wr screen. Swing pass to the back. A curl or out to a TE. Get Allen in rythem. Imo Allen is a rythem passer. When he finds it look out. -
Bill's 27 Texans 13. This game imo goes very similar to the Dallas game. On the first big stage Allen steps up and has his best game. Go Bills.
-
24-16 Buffalo.

I really like the element Yeldon adds to the passing game. Now, is that worth a core special teamer? Probably, not. I dont see anything changing in terms of inactives. You dont change much about what got you to the playoffs. Week 17 was preseason game number 5 with a 46 man roster vs 90.
-
I would play the majority of the starters for a half. Alexander, Gore, Brown and White I would sit.
-
anybody else think we should have kept ivory over gore
Mat68 replied to tcampbell104's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Gore imo had a massive impact on the growth of Singeltary. Gore cant get outside anymore. He is good for some tough yards, but imo looks like a shot fighter. The impact in the lockerroom cant go understated. With a complete new group on offense he demands respect of every player. -
I dont see it that way. It's going from AFC Championship game to top 10 the next 2 years. Without massive injuries and a similar roster. They traded away their best player because of internal issues. I would argue that Jacksonville is a bigger disappointment than Cleveland. In terms of reporting directly to Khan. Basically, on a daily basis are either guys worth keeping. It states for an interim basis til the end of the season.

2 trains of thought. 1. You get the players and formation. In those situations teams only have a few plays they go to, so you get a good read on what they want to do. 2. Maybe they do change. Now in that circumstance you forced your opponent away from their best play. Win, Win either way. Overall, coaches are sticking to the original play, they feel with proper execution the play will work even if the might have a read on what's coming.

The Bill's defense dominates poor QBs. Duck Hodges is a poor Qb. Buffalo wins easy imo.
-
Reactionary. Jon Harbaugh was a Special Teams coach for his NFL coaching career before becoming head coach of Baltimore. They have buttoned up coverage units. I thought Buffalo was too aggressive in their Kickoff returns. Roberts is a block away from breaking some of these returns. He pulls that off in a big game in a big spot it all makes sense. For those wanting Williams... Jimmy Smith erases him from existing Sunday. Atleast Roberts adds to teams.
-
They pick out all the numbers Allen does poorly. He is top 5 in adjusted completion % or was the last time I checked. Baltimore is killing everyone. The Bill's were a play or 2 away from taking that game. Everyone is so reactionary. Allen's first half was tough. He is a rythem passer. The opening drives they need to scheme him gimme throws. Not 25 plus yard passes into the wind.

A rule tweek? (Regarding challenges)
Mat68 replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I go the other way. A coach can challenge anything. Holding, Pi, Fumble whatever. They have 2 and possibly 3 if first 2 are correct. You lose a TO or take a delay of game penalty if wrong. That's it. No booth review, automatic review. Empower the refs to make the right call in the moment. Not call games with the eye in the sky always not always there. -
Bengals accuse Pats employee of videotaping their play calls
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After reading the report of spygate. It was so systemic that there is no way they would stop cold Turkey. Does it matter? Imo, no. They cant score enough points. Barring a string of TO and a special teams TD, Buffalo goes into NE and beats them. -

Its pretty insane. If you read the spygate report this is exactly what they did. Down to the "third party production company" still owned by Kraft. The people filming are told what to say if they get caught I didnt know.. Its for a documentary. -
Confidence. Yeldon is a better athlete than Gore and adds more to the passing game. However, he is wildly inconsistent. For his size he isnt great at Blitz pick up and he fumbles.
-
Blowout? No. I see it going very similar to the Denver game. 20-10 something like that.
-
Steelers wont score enough to win. Allen makes enough plays to have the game in hand by quarter 3.
